Yes it does! :D

It is funny too as the system test that KOTOR runs gave me a warning about the video card not meeting the requirements... Bwahahaha... It is too new a card for the game to know about. ;)

In 4 days my new computer will be here! At the moment however my computer is:

200 Mhz Pentium Pro

80 Mb Ram (unknown type)

two hard drives, a 1.2 gig and a 6 gig

16 MB Voodoo 3 PCI graphics card

Sound blaster 16/AWE 32 sound card

To quote someone: "Beat THAT"!!!

I use it to play Jedi Outcast on, believe it or not!

My new computer (sigh of delight) is:

Intel Pentium 4 540 w/HT Technology (3.2GHz)

1 GB DDR / PC3200 (2 DIMM)

40GB 7200 rpm SATA Hard Drive

256MB DDR ATI Radeon X600 Pro with TV-Out and DVI

Integrated Intel High Definition Audio

A sweet setup, but for a reasonable price.

getting ready for your old days? :D

Yeah, if my place was on fire...I'd save the computer before anything else ;) sad thing is just 1 of the monitors is worth more than the whole system...

They always say the mind is the first thing to go...then the eyes...

Dare I ask what's next...

still, I don't feel half as bad as I do for where I work. They forked over roughly $16,000 apiece for the 2 edit systems we use...

dual 2.5ghz G5 Powermacs fully loaded *drool*

8GB RAM, (2) 30" Cinema Displays, over 3 terrabytes storage (xsans raid), all fiber...*ramble* *ramble*

heh, just go to http://www.apple.com / store / and customize the 2.5ghz system...pick every 'top' option and that's what we have...

ooooo... you got the 6800 OC (over clocked)!! I have to ask, how is that card?

I've been reading up on it, and tempted to switch from my 6800 ultra, but not sure if it was worth it as their in the same series family... it's just that the OC looks so damned good *drool*... ;)

if you really want an OC, just overclock the card yourself. you don't have to go so insane with it that you need a heatpipe, just bump it up a bit. and the best part of it is that you can use the Forceware Drivers to do it. (you just have to 'mod' the drivers just a tad to enable the overclocking feature). and not only that, but the Forceware drivers also come with a utility to find the fastest possible speed that won't overheat the GPU.
From PCWorld.com

NVidia has even built overclocking settings into its latest drivers. To enable them, open the Windows Registry editor by going to Start, Run, typing regedit, and pressing Enter. Navigate to "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SOFTWARE/NVIDIA Corporation/Global/NVTweak/," right-click the right pane of the editor and choose to add a new DWord called coolbits. Edit that entry and give it a hex value of 3, then close your Registry editor. The NVidia tab (Figure 5) under your PC's advanced display properties settings will now feature a "Clock Frequency Settings" page that allows you to adjust memory and graphics chip clock speeds for your board. Click the "Detect Optimal Frequencies" button if you want the utility to try to find safe overclocked settings for your graphics board.

you know what? i realized that my specs i posted earlier in this thread are for my family's computer (as opposed to the computer i currently use). so, here's my machine:

AMD Athlon 3200XP (Barton Core)

ATI Radeon 9700 Pro (overclocked to 365 MHz core & 350 MHz memory); AGP 8x

1024 MB DDR-333 RAM

NForce2 Integrated Sound

NForce 2 northbridge chipset

120 GB HD

DVD +/- R/RW

the most interesting part about it is that i only paid $625 for the machine. it's an EMachines (and yes, the GPU is something i installed myself).

i want to build my own machine, and i probably will eventually. but for now, my current machine works just fine. :D

I have a custom built one myself:

Intel Pentium 4 3.2GHz prosessor.

GeForce FX 5600 , 256 MB vid card. (Though I think I will upgrade soon. Thanks for the advice on this ChAiNz!)

1.something GB RAM

I just bought an Audigy2 (spelling) surround sound card to go with my surround speakers.

The rest is unimportant (and I'm tired)....

well, my system hasn't changed much at all with a couple of additions:

Volcano Heat Pipe on the R9700

Volcano Heat Sink/Fan for Socket A

Sound Blaster Audigy 2 ZS (got it dirt cheap from a friend)

those upgrades have allowed me to overclock my R9700 even further to 420Mhz core/400Mhz mem. i also managed to flash the BIOS on the motherboard, and that has enabled me to mess with the memory timings, voltage, FSB clock, and the CPU clock. after a lot of tweaking, i finally managed to find a great balance between system performance and stability.

the results:

  • +27 fps on Half Life 2 (from 48 to 75) @ 1280x1024 w/ 6x AA & 8x AF
  • +13 fps on TSL (from 28 to 41) @ 1280x1024 w/ 6x AA & 8x AF

definately an improvement that should keep my computer running nicely for another 6 months or so. :D

hehehe.. luckily not too many.. the job did most of it for me... (32 years old and they still gave me an "allowance" :xp: )

Thing is, if I quit... so do the toys :( They kinda got me by the jollies on that one. Guess I won't be retiring anytime soon unless I win the lottery and can buy the toys on my own :fist:

Yeah, and I'm with MDK... lightscribe sounds so "fun" to have. I hate making labels.. so most of my collection is in my chicken-scratch excuse for writing with a Sharpie
