A Moral Dilemma

ET Warrior

Recommended Posts

I have a question I'd like to pose to all of you here. I was at EB Games applying for a position the other day, and was perusing through their used PC games rack when I found No One Lives Forever. Now I've never played the game myself, but I have heard MANY good reviews, and it was only 5 dollars. I purchased it. Upon returning home and opening it up, I found that only disc one of two was actually in the case, and I'd opened it and broken their sticker, nullifying my option of returning it. So here is my dilemma, I have a game that I payed for, but can never play due to the company that sold it to me not checking for both discs before selling it.

Is it morally acceptable now for me to download this game, or not?

Why can't you just complain to the store that sold it? I mean, you couldn't know that there was only one CD before you opened it, could you?

I definatly think you should give your complaint about it to the store. If the store has any decency, there's at least 95% chance you'll get a new copy.

Problem solved.

Well, he's applying for a position where he got it from. So I don't think he wants to make them think he's an ass. Worst thing to do. Ever.

I'd love to, except the store is in boulder, and I don't move back to boulder for another two weeks. I was there on housing business, but it's an hour and a half drive to get there from here. and I'm not really keen on making that drive if I don't have to.

et, you ass. ROMs are only illegal if you don't own the actual game.

That's what I figured, I just wanted verification.

Wait, ET has morals?

I know, shocking isn't it :dozey:

NOLF IS A GREAT game. My first mp one as well. really ace. Hilarious...was GOTY as well on gayspy.

Yes download, its a back-up. And play the nice ol' game.

i wonder if there are still ppl playingMP..when i played it 2 years ago we werent with that really many, but we all knew each other, was kewl. Knew the password for every locked server

also a + side with that was that we could actually organise a "world championship". Oh yes and in MP i had at least 2 exploits for each map (getting outside the map, still able to shoot), almost everyone knew em but didnt use em

ah good ol times...

I would *ring* the store, ask to speak to the manager, be very civil, and you'll see that most places are reasonable. At the end of teh day, its only 6 bucks, you generally would spend more than that on lunch, so I wouldnt worry too much.... I think the d/l thing is the last, but justified resort.... because if you were really pirate scum (arrggh!) then you wouldve dowloaded the whole thing from scratch
