Ockniel
who do you think is the main character of star wars? throughout the series I think tht the only people in all of them are obi-wan, and anakin, and palpatine, C-3po, R2-D2, and the clone troopers/stormtroopers, so, who is it?? ET Warrior
It's Anakin...even George Lucas has said that the Star Wars saga is all about the journey of Anakin Skywalker. His fall to the darkside and ultimate redemption.

Ockniel
It could also be argued that it is obi-wan trying to become a master, and in the end succeding (sp?)
Lynk Former
Not really, he died in Episode IV. His purpose in the saga was to train Anakin and to bring the beginnings of the truth and also to awaken Luke to the Force.
leXX
It's Anakin, and to an extent, R2D2. When you really think about how important R2D2's role is in the whole saga, you realise that he plays an extremely important role in the outcome.
coupes.
Yes, but there wouldn't be any need for this help if Anakin didin't exist... Everything revolves around Anakin. So, of course the Star Wars saga is all about Anakin
Pad
The chosen one who will bring balance to the force. Think that explains it pretty much
ET Warrior
The only movie of the six where Anakin/Vader wasn't a very central role was IV. He was the main badguy however, so his role was extremely important, though the focus was very much just on Luke.
Sivy
its the skywalker family which the film centres on, with anakin being the main focus.

Lexxy rules It is well known that GL is a huge student/fan of Akira Kurosawa... and that the 3po/R2 dynamic is an homage to the two peasants who get swept up in the events of the film, Hidden Fortress Lucas has stated that in earlier drafts of the story(before it took shape into its respective parts), there was a much stronger emphasis on these two characters, which really comes out most strongly in ANH, as they are the first characters we meet... in ANH, to think about it, its interesting that artoo was padme's droid and 3po was anakins creation, and interestingly enough, they end up bumping into Luke, the offspring off their respective 'owners'..... 'tis a small galaxy.... Intresting also is that artoo is able to 'keep mum' (even to 3po, who seems to not remember/had a mem wipe ) despite knowing everything about Luke and his heritage........ 'keep mum' means keep a secret BTW mtfbwya
Sivy
its not a homage, it's a total rip off but hey, we don't mind... afterall, the majority of westerns are remakes of old samurai movies, fist full of dollars, magnificent seven etc.
Nairb Notneb
Anakin is the theme of the six chapters. He is the hero and the villain of the story. Very few characters can say that about themselves. His character is so large in the story that will have taken five actors to play him to get the full effect, each one adding something else to the puzzle that is Anakin Skywalker/Darth Vader. In the last three chapters when his character is in the hideous villain mode, the main protagonist becomes his son, Luke. Luke's focus is however, still on Anakin throughout the remainder of the story and the conflict between the two of them. They both need therapy, but they manage to work it out in the end, after severing a few limbs of course.
Doomie
Anakin it is. It's just a fact that cannot be denied. Only why does it include the stormtroopers but not Luke? That's a bit of a weird choice.
Nairb Notneb
Maybe it includes the storm troopers and not Luke because Luke was only around for three movies and the troopers (if you include the clone troopers as storm troopers) were around for five. But Luke would be a better option in my opinion than those elite warriors that can't hit the broadside of a barn for anything. At least one could even argue that Luke could possibly be the chosen one, from a certain point of view, but he's not!
fuzzyfreaker
There is no opinion. There is no Question. The is no uh... Cheese. Anakin Skywalker is the main character.
