Natty
And now I'm quitting smoking. I've had my 6months rebellion thingo (how sad, at 22 I decide to rebel) but hey, it was great while it lasted. Lets just see if this cough I've had will now go away. Or lets see how long I last. Back to chupa chups for me when I get cravings.

Feral
It's a British and, apparently, Australian colloquialism.
DrMcCoy
my mom made it by chewing a lot of chewing gum... (~ 10 years ago...)
Joshi
Gum doesn't work either, try alcohol. Turn your cigarette addiction to an alcohol addiction, They're more fun! (no, I'm not being serious, before anyone comes along and starts yelling about me being a bad role model to this girl whose 4 years older than me) I don't get why people go cold turkey, chickens much tastier! No seriously, why not just phase it out, cut don on cigaretts a bit and then just keep cutting down until you stop. Cold turkey makes people angry an aggressive. Natty
I was only smoking 4's so it's not like they were really strong. Anyways, had my last one on Saturday night and it's now Monday afternoon and I'm fine. Not a single craving yet. I'm so proud of myself
Darth Groovy
Hmmm I quit for almost two years, yet I started up with the War in Iraq. I origninally stopped because the girl of my interest thougt it was "icky". Then she started, and I started during he war in Iraq, becuase she was going to join the army. She never did....yet I am still smoking. This time I just lack the willpower to WANT to quit. *lights up a Camel Turkish Jade Menthol*
DrMcCoy
well, i never smoked and i intend to continue not smoking... and i hate people who smoke while i'm around... i don't care if they wreck their health, but they also wreck my health (and the environment... and why do these people always have to throw their cigarettes to the ground?) Sivy
good luck to you Natty. if you've only been smoking 6 months then it shouldn't be too hard to quit. i've cut down a lot recently. i find there are two times in a day when the cravings become too much. so now i try just to have a cigarette at those times. so i've gone from 10 a day to 2 a day. i'm in a vicious circle though because i'm a big worrier, i worry about everything even if there's really nothing to worry about. and its one of the reasons i smoke because it calms me. now people say to me 'aren't you worried you'll get cancer or heart disease' and i'm like 'of course, i'm a worrier... i worry about it so much its drives me to smoking.' Sivy
yeah but there's just too much confusion nowadays... you shout "does anyone know where i can find some fags?!" in the street, people always get the wrong end of the stick.
Joshi
You shout Originally posted by Siv people always get the wrong end of the stick. in the street and people always get the wrong end of the stick. but yeah, contrary to popular belief we no longer call cigarettes "fags" (well, okay, some people do, when a girl says "I'm going out for a fag" we generally know what she's talking about, I don't know too many men who say that) but we've always called them ciggies. Darth Groovy
So it's a FEMALE thing eh? Thanks for clearing that up. Some of you may know leXX from JK.net, and she says that all the time. Took me a while to get used to it, but it all makes more sense now. Man, how I LOVE the British!
Sivy
it came from the days when firewood was called faggots, tobacco was known as shag, queer was something strange and gay meant happy. you can see the confusion if we still talked like that... "Nothing makes me more gay than a shag with a queer taste" said Gandalf, while he sucked on Pippin's pipe. "Quick! throw another a faggot on the fire!" said Frodo, "No Mary, i didn't mean Sam!" Second hand smoke is real, but thrown WAY out of proportion with by the anti-smoking agencies (who use methods of advertising that are almost worse than the tobacco companies themselves). That statistics of people who "die" from second hand smoke are actually from documents of anybody who got disease that can be connected to smoking (lung cancer, emphasima (sp?), heart disease etc.) but can be caused by a lot of other things than smoking. It's most likely all the exhaust from the traffic, or the smog, or just the air pollution (which goes along with smog, but what the hell, right?) I'm against smoking, but it's a right of the people. I'm royally pissed off by all these anti-smoking adds and hate it when those asses call nice people "killers" because they smoke.
