primalunderdog
((Here goes a long story)) When the first jedi started to drop out the academys they made a group of there own and they fell to the darkside. They got stronger and stronger. The sith (what ever race darth maul was) was force sensitive and where all very strong in the force. They where also the jedi's mortal enemy,so the "drop out jedi" joined them. The number of Darkside jedi increased but the sith decreased as the jedi killed them,Eventualy only one sith remained...Darth Maul! After the sith were dead the darkside jedi took up there way of life and called themselves the sith.
boinga1
No, no no. The Sith were orginally a race, isolated from the rest of the galaxy. When a group of Jedi fell to the dark side, they were chased from the Republic, and landed on the homeworld of this Sith race. They conquered the Sith and used them as slaves. Because they ruled over the Sith, they called themselves "Lords of the Sith." ANyway, the Jedi and Lords of the Sith (hereafter referred to as the "sith")eventually met each other again, and eventually all the Sith killed themselves off due to fighting amongst their ranks. The last surviving Sith, Darth Bane, instituted the "rule of two" to prevent the Sith from destroying themselves through their own greed. Bane went into hiding, taking on an apprentice. This apprentice became a Master and took his own apprentice when Bane died, and so on and so on. Eventually, Darth Sidious/Palpatine became an apprentice, then a Master when his Master died. He took a young Zabrak, Darth Maul, as his apprentice. When Maul was killed, Sidious corrupted an old Jedi Master, Dooku, and took him as a Sith apprentice, giving him the name of Tyranus.(The last paragraph is my own guess). This information is based on the New Essential Guide to Characters. Anyways, I think Maul is cool, and Obi-Wan was lucky to defeat him. However, Tyranus could probably take him, seeing how he easily defeated the man who killed Maul ten years earlier. My vote still goes to Maul, though, for being cool. Mono_Giganto
Yeah Maul's a Zabrak technically, if you mean the last true Lord of the Sith (Sith) then that would be Palpatine wouldn't it?

No, Palpatine is a normal human! True sith looks like monsters.
Sabretooth
Considering the circumstances, Dooku. But otherwise, Maul rocks. BTW, Sith, monsters? I thought they were just highly advanced Dark Force Users. We'll see...

That's why I made sure I said Lord of the Sith. 'Cause after he died there was no one to keep up with the traditions.

Hannibal
Originally posted by Revan Solo No, Palpatine is a normal human! True sith looks like monsters. Like someone previously mentioned the Sith were a race of people. Maul was a Zabrak(sp?) so he wasn't the last true Sith. He was the last true Zabrak Sith Lord. If Obi-wan can luckily beat Maul, Dooku would've kicked his but all over that hanger without breaking a sweat.

He was leaded by hate.

Zerosaber
If you played KOTOR you'll learn that the sith were jedi who were banned from the jedi order. So the sith started out as a group of jedis who were expelled from the jedi order. Just because Maul looks dangerous doesen't mean he's the last true sith. The sith started out as humans as a matter of fact, jedi who were corrupted. Take Exur Kun for an example. He was human and probably more bad than Maul in many ways. Looks doesen't matter. It's the skill that counts.

In the first sith wars they were killed by jedis and there were no sith for a while. Until some stupid jedis came who wanted to live like the sith. They teached everybody they could get. That are the sith they are today! Any questions?
DonEmperor
I like Maul because he is a silent one . He has no superfluous words (actually he didn't say any thing at all) . Dooku has too much talk and he looks very arrogant. I dislike him.

idle
After much deliberation I picked Darth Maul. Although his story was not fleshed out at all during the movie I can imagine it to be a very interesting one if it is ever told. It would be a perfect opportunity to explain this whole Sith thing as well. Dooku is kick arse but in the end his storyline isn't the most inventive, I don't see why people are so impressed with it. It's the most logical situation to come up with.

Samurai DD
I voted Maul cause he has all sith tattos and things, is silent, uses double bladed red saber, and Zabraks rule!!! He also has a cool background story, theres a book about him and some of it in the New Essential Guide to Characters. Dooku is arrogant, however he is very powerful indeed, too. And yes, the Sith were a monstrous species in the unkknown regions and knew about the force before a handful of fallen jedi arrived, they just didnt know aboutthe rest of the galaxy and the republic. They also used dark side magic to live longer among other strange things. When the fallen jedi arrived, they made them slaves and stole their secrets to themselves. They even bred together! The Sith and the Lords of the Sith becames very powerful and made their empire in the unknown regions. After some millenia they attacked the republic on what is known as the Sith Wars, Exar Kun, etc.

urluckyday
I think that Maul would be considered a better sith. Just because Dooku lived, doesn't mean he's better. And the only reason he almost killed Anakin was because Anakin was a pushover as a Jedi. Darth Maul had to face 2 extremely good Jedi, while Dooku only faced 1 really good Jedi. Also Maul actually could kill one of the better masters even though he was an apprentice. So overall, Maul was better!
