[WIP] TSL Recruitment Mod

Recommended Posts

I am currently working on a recruitment mod for TSL, one that will allow you to bring Mission into your party. Everything is working perfectly, except for one thing. She will spawn and you can recruit her and she functions as a party member, however she doesn't look like Mission.

I placed all of Mission's models and textures from KotOR in my TSL Override folder and checked all of the 2da files to make sure they were the same as KotOR.

When in-game she looks like the Handmaiden, which is who she is replacing temporarily, with "Mission" above her head. This tells me that my .utc is working but something else isn't.

I read the thread on the recruits in TSL and went back to a save game before Nar Shadaa, where she will spawn in the cantina, and made sure I was loading the module for the first time but she still looks like the Handmaiden.

After all this I am stumped as to why she doesn't look like Mission.

If you want to take a look at the files just ask and I can email them to you. If this is a simple fix, I apologize for my stupidity :p

Any help is welcome. Thanks.

Hello Anydel,

First, I would like to say Welcome to the Forums... :D

Second, Unfortunately your mod won't work, if you are trying to use Missions models from KOTOR I, as the model format has been altered between KOTOR I and KOTOR II:TSL, that is why you aren't seeing Mission properly, so unless her model exists in TSL's game files you will not be able to have Mission appear in TSL.

Third, before you continue with your mod project, especially if you intend to release it, I strongly suggest you read The Forum Rules, Especially Rule 14, as porting resources from KOTOR to TSL is quite verboten here, because it is illegal.

Sorry...

Thanks for the replies guys. I did read the rules but I guess I missed that rule.

I checked and I can't find Missions models in models.bif so I guess then it can't be done. So as long as the models and stuff are there already I can use them. Like, Bastila is there so I could use her without any legal ramifications right?

Oh well, it should be simple enough to change who I'm using as a recruit now that I know how to do it.

Thanks again,

You could still make a Blue Twilek, using an adult Twilek model (Mission would have grown-up a bit by then). Voicing would be the real problem, unless you explained in some way as to why Mission decides to speak Twilek'i now.

I wished they would've given her or Jolee a cameo... instead we get Carth?? :fist: ... ugghh but that's a different thread ;)

Yes, Bastila can still be used ( :D ) And she can even wear most equipment, such as a Dark Jedi master robe. But for some other robes (e.g. Dark Jedi robe) if Bastila equips it, she'll be wearing one of those brown, cloackless robes from KOTOR  . However, even though Bastila can still be used, the game will crash (or freeze) if you equip her with certain items.

If he hasn't been killed by Revan on the Dark side, he could have died of old age. :p

You can add bastilla perfectly and if you edit the .2da file you can change K1_PFBIM (brown kotor 1 robe) to PFBIM (TSL robe) but i dont think her underwear model is in so just change it to something else (maybe visas under wear model) i chnaged her under to the dancer outfit

The Handmaiden is more difficult to change the appearance of than your other party members, since she does not have just one model in appearance.2da. Handmaiden has 3 different lines i the 2DA file which the game code switches between depending on if she's wearing her hooded standard outfit (line 454), any other form of armor (line 638), or if she's a darksider (line 669).

If you change her appearance type to anything else, the game will automatically set it back to the appearance appropriate to her current alignment and clothing.

If you edit all the 2da entries to point to your new model instead, you'll change the appearance of Atris Combat Drones as well, since they use the same appearance type as the Handmaiden.

There are no blue Twileks.

Does anyone know how to re-skin the Twilek Assasin model's skin colour to Mission's blue? I've fiddled around with it for more than an hour now, and my limited skinning skills have proven to be insufficient...

Oops!

I did not read this WIP before fiddling with adding a Twilek of my own to the Character Creation screen.

Take a look at my twilek, I can easily adjust the skin tone to match Mission's for you. I used the Twin Sun's Bounty hunter Twileks BTW.

They would be N_twiassasin.mdl and .mdx along with N_twiassh01 & 02 for the head models.

There IS a blue Twilek in the game, check around the Telos cantina. However, it's wearing commoner clothes, which is why there's no blue body.

I've been trying to learn to skin over the last few days, and I came up with these from one of the Twin Suns, I don't know if anyone wants them, but if you do, PM me with your email address.

Please excuse the poor lighting in the picture, it does actually look better ingame.

That would be great, I like the assasin skin in your picture (and that was the one I had been trying to make Mission blue myself).

Though I'm not yet sure it will fit cute little Mission to have such a... revealing outfit. Will have to see how it works ingame in order to judge that, I guess.

Hmm... nice job with the re-colouring, but isn't that blue darker than Mission's blue? Or is it just due to the lighting?

I thought the same thing, that's why I covered up just abuot everything but the stomach area, but I guess I could cover that too...

And Darth Melignous, it is his thread, but someone suggested a way for him to have a 'legal' Mission and I suggested a skin that I attempted. It's all for him. :D

Well I could start my own Mission thread - but then it would probably get locked by a moderator who would point to this thread and say "There's already one thread for that, please don't create multiple threads on the same topic" or something like that. :p

Nah, don't cover up her stomache... perhaps her arms doesn't need to be covered up either, as long as her chest is a bit less... exposed.

So about the colour, is it the correct Mission colour?

How's that? The color is pretty light blue ingame, and the outfit is much less revealing than the original Twin Sun. And keep in mind that it's only the clothes model, most of the time she'll be in armor/robes. If anyone is still planning on a recruit Mission mod, they can use this skin if they want. :) (Just PM me.)

I just spent the past 2-3 hours making the darker skined Twin Sun into Mission. The blue is as close as I can get it. I even added the purple tinge to her skin and the freckles to her face. I changed the eye color to the grey they were in KotOR as well. To make her look a little more adult I added some eye shadow and some darker lips.

I haven't added the textures to the 2da yet nor have I hexed the model to take my textures. It's late and I have to work tomorrow so I probably wont have any screens for you until late sunday or monday. Please note I have not had much luck with adding heads or models or anything, I can't even get Visas's head selectable for a player head. I'm more of an artist than a programmer so if I have problems I will ask for help.

I didn't think that many people liked Mission, nice to see this thread took off. :D

Thanks.
