Yah, I can understand that, but we find people who type like this is a MySpace page find it kinda annoying.

Ontopic: What do you mean by real time jedigoku? Like, its slower or something in real time?

>_>

when a process is set to run in real time it completely takes over the cpu which is a bad thing.

all processes have certain priorities which determine the amount of time cpu time they get but when you change a process to realtime which is the highest priotity to takes all the cpu time and every other process stop running which tend to make a computer freeze up which is why i put the *shutters* comment there

that is more than likely the case since IE is Microsoft's browser I would think that they would include it in vista

yes I use firefox I'm not gonna bash ie but do you know that the Google toolbar is out for firefox now

no I'm not gonna get in a firefox ie debate either:)

So, don't set it to realtime. Set your process to Above Normal or High.

Check it out, press alt + control + delete and then click processes, right click the program you want to speed up, and there you go.

Anyways, I wouldn't recommend it doing this, but if your game is really slow...

An IE Beta is supposed to come out this summer.

I used to speed up really fast, but slow down, take your time. Take a typing class or something so it will allow you to channel that speed into your keys at a good rate.

Besides, in C++/HTML if you type like that you will get many errors, lol.

IE 7 is included in vista. Its also being released for XP because of security concerns about IE6, but some of the advanced features won't work.

I think an IE7 beta just came out, but it disables the google toolbar or something.

Unfortunately IE7 STILL isn't going to properly support HTML and CSS standards... so even 10 years after they were created its still going to be a major pain to use CSS and make it work with both IE and standards compliant browsers...

Vista screenshots here

anyone know of any plugin for XP that allows you to filter the contents of a folder by typing into a box in the toolbar, like in this screenshot: All%20Docs.jpg

???

I don't get this. Seven versions. Yet the browser still doesn't mesh completely with HTML and CSS standards?

And it's the same for most other browsers. Even Firefox isn't 100% compliant from what I understand.

What exactly are coders making these programs to do if they're not being made to work with web standards? What the hell?

Apparently, nothing is perfect. :cry6:

*eats more lemon flavored paste*

So far, I'm not impressed by whats its shaping up to be, yah, it looks cool, includes features only available for download for free by 3rd party companies, and it took them 4 years to do it. Its just sad.

It seems to me that this OS will use up more of my nice clock cycles and bits of memory that any that have gone before, clock cycles that can be but to better use blasting aliens out of the sky or raining hell down on a village to mek them believe in you (one of my popular past times of late).

It looks like it will be very little extra function (probably less as it will try and stop you doing anything that might change the settings) with much worse performance (on the same PC). It also looks more fluffy than XP, and I'm guessing that unlike XP you probably wont be able switch back to clasic veiw (something I do to save my RAM from that big blobby taskbar)

That is all.

PS: hello again everyone.

Yup, exactly right. I don't see why they won't allow you to change back to the old windows start menus, or even the XP ones if you want.

In the final version you will most probably be able to switch back, because in XP you can still use the classic Windows start bar, and menu.

Heres a picture of it in XP.

Also heres the classic theme and the classic start bar.

So if it's in XP it should be on Vista.

You guys shouldn't worry about system specs right now, they are not official and they are not finished making the OS. If Vista has something up its sleve, we will find out what that is, hopefully...

As i understand it Vista has a "performance analysis" module that runs when you first install it that analyses the speed and capability of all parts of your system (processor, cd speed, graphics card etc). It then defaults the settings to ones your pc can handle... so if its a slower pc or has a lower graphics card you won't get the flashy interface effects.

Also, if your performance changes (drops due to bad software or spyware or a problem, or improves due to an upgrade) it will detect it and run again.

Supposedly they are making games a major focus of the software as playing games is the second most common use of a home pc after the internet... and these games will be able to access the same performance info to allow them to decide what bells and whistles to use.

That said, the DRM lockdown (secure path etc) is likely to mean i won't upgrade for a few years at least.
