Astrotoy7 Posted August 13, 2005 Posted August 13, 2005 I have noticed something since the switch to VB3. The popup ads are freakin indestructible. Whether its with adblock or Norton Internet security, they dont all disappear like they used to. Norton Internet security does get rid of the larger one, usually some girl in a leotard and weight loss... the other links are still there. Vlocking with on adblock(via Right Click) only works temporarily, if I reload the page, its still there anyone know any tricks with adblock or other third party proggie that will get rid of *all* that crap for good ?? I hate junk mail at my house at I hate junk ads on my compy!! mtfbwya

Whenever you click on "block thesa ad" you can cut stuff and replace by *. For example if you want to get rid of ugo once and for all, type *.ugo.com/* Too bad the box box still remains; shrinking topic width

acdcfanbill Posted August 13, 2005 Posted August 13, 2005 uh, i didnt even know there were still ads and pop ups. and i dont use any 3rd party software, sans firefox. dont even have any adblock extensions, perhaps they didnt comer over w/ an update or soemthing, i dunno, but i never see anything.

Lady Jedi Posted August 14, 2005 Posted August 14, 2005 Astro, you have to have adblock already installed for this to work. Just go here, and click on the "instructions.txt" link. Follow the directions and make sure you update it every week or so for about a month or two. It works. I've got no ads anymore.

It's been wonderful! Just remember to do it every week for a while, because ads might start showing up if you only do it once.
Astrotoy7 Posted August 15, 2005 Author Posted August 15, 2005 sithy and jed, you two shouldnt spend the night together after doing a couple of lines as for the adblock stuff, it's working great, even on other sites where there were some very persistent and parasitic ads I would have to put it down as the one single positive thing that has resulted in my whole 3 years here!!!
