nacho35
Are people actually still playing KOTOR and KOTOR II? I don't know how I missed this but I finally picked up galaxies and I have never looked back. How can people ever be interested in KOTOR again? The experience is a 1-time 16 hour game. To anyone who has not tried Galaxies I urge you to try it and you will never look back at so simple a game as KOTOR.
RedHawke
Yup, I do! As I have recently played a few sessions lasting a few hours each of Galaxies and I must say I was really let down, I would never pay money per month for that type of ho-hum game expirience. nacho35
Man, I cannot understand that? I loved KOTOR I and sort of liked KOTOR II when I played them. In Kotor II I completely finished the game once and started a couple of more, but lost interest real quick. If Jedi is a must have for you I can understand why Galaxies wouldn't be for you. If you think you have to wait a while to get your lightsaber in KOTOR...... The depth of what you can do in Galaxies amazes me. I cannot see an end to it or to the point where I might get bored. RedHawke
Just to clairify, KOTOR and TSL are SP RPG's... SW Galaxies is an MMORPG... They are quite incapable of being compared to one another... totally different games. The depth of what you can do in Galaxies amazes me. I cannot see an end to it or to the point where I might get bored. I realize you think that Galaxies is great, and that is cool with me! But for me and a few others it just falls short... Anyway, good luck in Galaxies!
TheOssusKeeper
I still play Kotor and Kotor 2, more of the Kotor 2 though... I can't see paying a monthly fee to play a game online or other-wise for that matter... especially if you don't have the time or the bandwidth to play the game as it is meant to be played... I think playing games online is a waste of time and money IMHO... I used to play flight sims online and the bandwidth sucked, it kept kicking me off every so often, lots of lag, etc. now i don't know what SWG is like, I never played it, but if you gotta' spend money monthly on it, i don't want it... Commas
i've never played galaxies, because back when it first came out highspeed interent was not available in my area, and then even after it did become available, it had been around for a looooong time and all my friends who played had stopped, because it cost so much money. then i decided that i didn't really want to keep paying for a game i had already bought, so i passed on galaxies. there are times when i think it might be kinda fun, but i just don't have the money to spend on it. Kotor on the other hand has a lot of life left in it for me, in the form of mods. After having so much fun modding K1, half the reason i was so excited to get TSL was to mod it. I've gotten more "replay" value from the kotor series than any other game, becuase its the only one i know how to mod. i've been working on mods all summer long, and accumulating mods from other authors, and as soon as i finnish the two big ones i'm working on now, i think it will finally be time to play thru TSL from start to finnish again. I got TSL in febuary, and i'm still "playing" with it.
TheOssusKeeper
i agree with you Commas, the kotor series still has playablility life to it... I actually didn't start modding till i got k2... i used mods that others made in k1 but i didn't do any modding on it of my own... although it did get me interested in modding and i started with k2... i am still fearly a noob at modding, but i can do some stuff... i collect and use mods others have made, there are some really good ones out there, they kinda' bring a new life to the kotor series... montnoir
The depth of what you can do in Galaxies amazes me. Translation: The simple amounts of killing the generic dog is staggering and numbers in the hundreds-of-thousands to increase 1 point in one of the 1000 skills you need to advance one level of the 649 you need to aquire the next level of specialization on your quest of: levelling up before "Joe". Nacho, some people like to be told a story. Something that is utterly lacking in Galaxies and all other MMORPGS, as of yet. And again, some people dislike the pointless stat-hunting experience that is the sole purpose of Galaxies and MMORPGS in general.
Ackyuk
i kind of agree with montnoir you do just run around killing animals or thugs even when doing the Jedi trials. After playing the game and getting to the point of becoming a Jedi I totally lost interest because you do the same thing over and over and over again in answer to another question yes I do still play kotor and TSL because every time I do I find out something new
stingerhs
actually, i recently had to dust off my TSL disk so i could finally try out the USM mod. heck, i think i'll probably be playing Kotor I within a couple of weeks. do i play other games than the Kotor games? oh yeah. got lots of those, and i usually end up taking them on down to EB Games to trade them in for something else after a while, excluding the games that i absolutely loved. but even some of those leave my HD after a while. so far, i've never uninstalled either Kotor or Kotor II from my computer. thats just so i know that they'll be there when the urge strikes a nerve. Hallucination
IMHO, mmorpg's are a giant mob of people who can't do math buying things to make their stats better, a smaller mob of people selling things who can do math. I just gets repettive. The only game I continue playing is Runescape (mainly cuz its free) and I like to make fun of lower lvl players, but I still help them do quests, give free stuff that is expensive, just for fun. But I'm not gonna pay for that.
Smilodon
I'm not playing TSL atm, I'll start a new game only after the the TSLRP is released Personally, I can't afford Galaxies now or any other MMORPG where you have to pay fees in order to play
Jeff
I haven't had any time to play games recently, but I have beaten each game around 6 times, so obviously I still like it I try to play it whenever I have time to though
jblue789
I haven't played KOTOR I yet, D:, but I've played TSL several times. I'm not playing it at the moment though. And personally, Galaxy isn't the snazziest or greatest game I've ever seen. Certainly not worth paying for, at least for me. If I do want to play a P2P game, well, it probably won't be Galaxies. fresnosmokey02
I love KOTOR 1 & 2 and I can't wait till KOTOR 3. It's been since December and February, respectively, and I still constantly play. I love modding, making them and using and tweaking other's mods. It provides a lot of replayability. I am not going to play a game that I have to keep paying to play after I buy the game. Besides, if you don't get in on the ground floor of a MMORPG, then you don't get anywhere. Existing higher level players just keep squashing the noobs.
Darth InSidious
I still play KotOR, and occasionally play TSL, mostly for the DAP and USM.....All I can say is that if hack 'n slash is all you want, play JK:JA - bugger all plot but lots of hacking slashing and all the rest of it
DerDivineShadow
The simple fact that galaxies wants like $15 a month simply to play it (and your forced to play online you cant play single or lan) totally makes me not even want to look at it. Since you end up in just 3 months paying well over what you paid for game in first place!. Lets hope this type of *pay to play* becomes unsustainable in the long run and causes companies to move off it as a result.
JediKnight707
How much do you have to pay monthly for Galaxies, btw? I think $15-20 I loved the idea of galaxies, but its stupid in the end. Its got a great storyline, and things of that nature (being able to choose republic/rebels), but $15 a month????? Even if I could afford it, I wouldn't do it. The Matrix Online is another game like SWG. Great idea, but stupid in the end.

lukeiamyourdad
It takes a lot of money to run a decent MMORPG. I agree that it's a rip-off for a game such as Galaxy but I'll gadly pay for World of WarCraft... Ah the days when I played World of WarCraft... Darth InSidious
I actually played TSL moreor less all the way through recently, with the USM and some bugfixes installed. It's surprising how much sense it now makes....
