MdKnightR
I have a few games that were given to me a couple of years ago that I never installed (mainly because my computer was slow as hell). Now I don't know if I should bother installing them or not. The games are.... Vampire the Masquerade - Redemption Diablo II No One Lives Forever 2 Please let me know your opinions of these games. All comments are appreciated.
RedHawke
The only one on that list I have played is Diablo II, and it's LOD Expansion... It is still installed on my Laptop, and I do still play it occasionally. I have gotten each character class to level 99 (The Maximum), my favorites are by far Necromancers, though Amazons and Barbarians are close seconds. It is a rather simple point and click combat system, Real Time Hack And Slash not an RPG, but the story is interesting, and the cinematics are cool. Most of your game time will be spent hunting for equipment and leveling your character, and of course whooping on the bad monsters the game has random item drops and map generation so they will change each time you play, adding additional flavor. There are also 3 difficulty levels, and your characters title upon finishing the game will change depending on the difficulty level you finished the game at, so if you play an easier level you can play through again at the next higher difficulty. So you start a character on normal, you complete it it unlocks difficult, you start that with what you had in normal, you complete that it unlocks nightmare you start that with what you had at the end of difficult... some of the most powerful items can only be found in the higher difficulties. As far as the aquisition of equipment goes you can also gamble good equipment in towns. But the best stuff is found on bosses, and you can even do what are called boss runs to slay some of them, then go back to town save and then restart the character and do the run again to see what will drop. I even played around modding the game a little for personal use.
T7nowhere
NOLF 2(No One Lives Forever 2) Is a pretty good game, Its a cross between Austin Powers and Jame bond. Pretty funny spy FPS. If you find it in the bargain bin its definitely worth playing.
montnoir
Nolf 2 is a fps but it uses stats, so you can sneak around and avoid killing or play shoot'em'all - the story is very good, so are the graphics. One of the best games ever made, but as you can see it is largely unkown, because it never had a huge advertising campaign and it was released at a time when everyone screamed for Quake and Doom "mow down everything with a mingun" type of games and this spy/stealth/story-driven fps with emphasis on feeling, never caught on the fingertwitching kids. Vampire - Redemption is a dungeon crawler type of game, an rpg. Imagine a Kotor with an older engine and an older design... and with vampires. The dungeoncrawler is pretty straight forward, no surprises. It contains what that kind of game should have, interesting locales, cool and wicked weapons, a very large variety of vampiric Disciplines (magic spells) a limited inventory and character specific, not a common inv. But the part in which Redemption really excels is the story. The voice-acting is absolutely marvellous, the characters are alive (well they are undead but...) and memorable, they have character flaws and strengths and the story... oh man, the story... it is so rich! It has a lot to tell, there is a lot to learn and it is cool. Our human history that we all know, was masterminded by vampires, hiding from us through an elaborate masquerade. It's exactly that kind of story that I enjoy and that interests me. Also the game is very ok, obviously it takes a little time to get used to the stat-system but an old rpg-gamer like yourself (we both know you are MdknightR) won't have a problem adapting. Definitely give it a try. Nolf 1 + 2 and Vampire - Redemption rank among my all time top 5 games. So if you have any other questions, be it gameplay-related or other. Ask away. Vladimir-Vlada
Yup. I remember... All 3 of them. Diablo 2: A classic RPG (hack$slash style). The story makes no sense, but it is so fun to play. If you like RPG's, you'll love Diablo 2. Vampire The Masquarade: Redemption: In my opinion, it's WAY better than Bloodlines. It has a better story, better characters, better items and so on. Standard RPG rules. No one lives forever 2: Something like Deus Ex, only it is happening 40 years ago, you are James Bond, and James Bond is a woman. Too bad it isn't really James Bond, because there isn't any decent James Bond game for PC.
Bob Lion54
I like the story of Redemption, but the game play is horrid. Basically, you go around killing baddies with a variety of weopons and Vampire powers called "disciplines." The problem I had was that all you had to do was keep hitting the attack button to kill baddies. There is no strategy in the combat. The animations are not that great either. You never actually know when you hit an enemy or when you miss. Apparently you miss a lot, because it takes a while to kill each enemy. Sometimes you get lucky and they die quickly, though. I still liked the game, but it has a pretty low replay value. Once you beat it, you probably won't care to play it again. I recommend Bloodlines over Redemption. If you do play Redemption and like it, try out Bloodlines. They improve the game play tremendously and the story is great. Bloodlines also features one of the best charactors in game history! His name is Smiling Jack.
lukeiamyourdad
NOLF 2 is a must. Cate Archer is hoooottt. Diablo 2 is enjoyable if you avoid Battle.net Seriously, never go online with Diablo 2...oh man...nightmares coming back out... It was full of idiots and childish men who used an RPG character as a penis enlargement. I kept telling people to keep their bloody money in their chest, but nooooo everyone is so stupid they can't spend 5 sec to put it in...then when they get killed and lose their money because someone took it, it's always crying and whining and then I tell them keep your bloody money in your chest, but that's too hard and saying that MUST mean I stole their money even if I was twenty miles away! Those bloody ****ing idiots...I hope they all rot in hell... And those bastards who's fun is to camp outside a town with a high level character, stopping everyone from going out by putting himself on dueling mode! Blizzard never fixed this problem...it would have been so easy to allow duels and PVP kills only when both players are aggressive towards each other...but that's way too much to ask and those lifeless nerds who find some form of honor in killing lower level players just to have some "fun" would whine and leave the game...which would leave maybe 10 persons playing the game online... Diablo 2 is dead to me. [/end rant]
REDJOHNNYMIKE
NOLF 2 PWNS:D...oh yeah...and so doeas Cate Archer;) The game is hilarious, the action was alright, but you have to play it for the comedy, I mean come on!!! blowing away evil french mimes, how do you top that:D
stingerhs
yep, played all three. Diablo 2 was fantastic, but it broke my mouse. NOLF & the sequal were fantastic. they don't rank as highly on my list as Half Life or AvP2, but they were still very good. and although i did say that i played VM:R, i only played it for an hour or two at a LAN party several years ago. IMHO, VM:B was much better.
MdKnightR
Okay, I installed Vampire first. Then I went searching for cheats for it. Every site I go to says something about a -console in the command line to activate cheats. How do you to this?
montnoir
If I remember correctly, you have to right-click the start icon and add -console to the command line. Then in the game, press "tilde" key and write in your cheat. Even though I must point out that cheating is
Bob Lion54
.... Every site I go to says something about a -console in the command line to activate cheats. How do you to this? Right-click the shortcut for the game. Click on "properties." Click the "Shortcut" tab. Just add -console after whats in the "Target" field. It should be outside the parenthesis and have a space. (the good thing is, if you don't do it right, it will say "no target found" and you can just try it again.) It should look like this: "C:\Program Files\LucasArts\SWKotOR2\launcher.exe" -console (I used K2 for an example because I don't have Vampire installed at the moment, but you should get the idea) Note:You can do this to either the shortcut on your desktop or in the start menu. You can do it to both if you want, but its not nessesary. For the console to work, you have to click on an altered shortcut to play the game. Note 2: You have to play the game by clicking on the altered shortcut. If you use the autoplay feature, it will not work. Hope that helps!
MdKnightR
Thanks for the help! It kept telling me that the target couldn't be found, but when I tried it today, it let me put it in there. Now I just need to see if I can play it with cheats to confirm that it worked.
RevanA4
diablo 2 is ok plz don't hit me but laks in everything except enimeys and once ya reach level 99 it is to flipping easy my soceress just pounds though everybody but I uninstalled it and haven't played it since it gets old fast compared to NWN(which has yet to get old) and kotor and tsl but d2 lacks story and any imagination to anything and still follows the same kill everything in your way consept of the first one

Now I just need to see if I can play it with cheats to confirm that it worked. Cool. Glad I could help. I hope you enjoy the game. I loved it. Like I said before, it dosen't have great replay value, but I couldn't stop playing my first time through. Let us know how you like it. Either way, if you have an extra $30 to spend, you should check out Vamire: The Masquarade: Bloodlines. Its got a darker feel to it and features one of the best areas of any game; a haunted hotel! The whole atmosphere of Bloodline is awsome. As an art teacher who's in to RPG gaming, I think you would appreciate it. It's set in the modern day with different PC options. You can select which clan your charactor is which controls what powers you can use. You can even play as a Nosferatu! haha I can't even remember the main baddie in Redemption, but Bloodlines has an awsome one. I won't say who it is because it a bit of a spoiler. Not quite as big as the revelation in K1 and you'll probably see it comming from a mile away. I'm not going to ruin it though, just in case you decide to play it. (Actually, it all depends on how you play the game. There are 5 different endings, I think. The main baddie can change, but one particular charactor is the final boss in most senarios.) JediKnight707
Diablo 2 is (INMO) one of the best games ever. It has a good storyline, and playing online is fun, if you play it with the right people. Plus, it can never get old, because you have 5 options for charcters, and different difficulties. Great game

Great game :eyeraise:um what storyline? and it getting old determines what you look for in a RPG for me I got tired of the same ol same ol hack and slash killing everything now when you can persuade and stuff like kotor, tsl, nwn, and jade empire thats what I look for in an rpg so getting old is really in the eye of the beholder
lukeiamyourdad
It does have a cool storyline even if it's only in the background. Truth is, it's only enjoyable in single player. Diablo 2 online is a rush fest to get to the highest level as fast as possible. And no, it doesn't have that much replayability. Everytime, it's pretty much the same thing, the same characters, the exact same story and quest evolution. As an RPG, it sucks, as a point and click fest, it excels quite well. The difficulty makes no difference. Yes, it's harder at Nightmare but it isn't much different from the normal difficulty. All in all, if somebody really needs an online RPG, go get NWN or fork up the money for a good MMO like World of WarCraft or Guild Wars. Since World of WarCraft came out, a lot of people left Diablo 2, the ones that remains are a few hopefuls but mostly assholes.
