I wonder when are the true GENIUSES of the world are going to start being geniuses and contribute to the human progress toward galactic exploration. I am tire of the so called, "genuis" of the world spening most of their time writing; equations, books and teaching students, where other teachers can teach students. They should be using their time developing the technology they supose to be capable of.

Maybe they're more qualified than other teachers to educate in the subjects they are teaching.

Not to mention equations tend to be the starting point in invention, I suggest you think before you post.

They should be using their time developing the technology they supose to be capable of.

Maybe you should stop whining and showing your ignorance.

Given that most computer technology is obsolete within months, I'd almost say quantum computers. But I was watching something on Discovery talking about how close they are to making nanotechs. So my guess would be nanotechnology.

They've already managed to teleport a proton using a very large, noisy and non-star-trek-looking machine. Warp drive, um, no. Wormholes aren't technology they're natural (if they exist).

Scientists are working on what they should be working on, the equations and books help them understand the universe, and if they didn't teach anyone we would run out of scientists pretty quick wouldn't we?

What happens when you get ill, with something doctors can't identify and the scientist who would have saved your life if in a lab working on your childish fantasy of galactic exploration. Grow up.

[RANT]Yes, windu6, perhaps if you were a "genius" you could do something like this, and set everbody right. Yeah, teaching other people, writing books and solving equations, and stuff like that is stupid and dumb. Those stupid "genuises" of the world should be doing what they are supposed to be doing, right.[/RANT]

Windu6, if you would stop being a whiner and totally ignorant, you wouldn't post something like this. These "stupid genuises" as you mispell them, have done a lot of things and advanced technology. And you lumping teachers and students into one big category is just unbearable; um, let me guess, maybe they are teaching because they are the only ones that can teach the things that the students are trying to learn? Come on, "genuises" write equations because of trying to solve something and discover more. Do you even have any clue about your so called "genuises", the ones you can't even spell right? I am not even going to vote.

Sidenote: Why has almost every thread I have seen of you is you complaining and whining about something? Over in the Unknown Regions you were calling the D20 combat system names, what is up with you?

To the rest of you: I am sorry if this was a little bit over the top, if it was, tell me and I won't do it again, I will try and contain myself. This just really ticked me off.

Warp Drive (as in the Star Trk idea) is immpossible. The theory of relativity proves this. Although I suppose it is just a theory, but it makes sense (if explained in words understandable to those of us who aren't quantum physisists(sp?))

Teleportation (again, as seen is Trek) isn't possible eany time soon. I don't know the scientific explanation for this, but apparently they've tried. They can't do it yet.

Antimatter does exist in theory, but it hasn't been seen yet. I don't think it can exist.

They've had a "quantum computer" operational for a fraction of a second recent;y, but it wasn't stable.

Wormholes aren't real. They were made up for Sci-Fi purposes.

I don't know what you mean by "fusion", but we already have nuclear fusion, if that's what you mean...

Advanced nano-technology is for sure the next thing we're going to see.

I voted for fusion as well. It seems more plausible, since we're already on the way as is, though I'm sure all of these concepts have been reviewed at some point or another by "geniuses".

But seriously windu6, get your head out of the clouds. It's not like there are ready made "geniuses" commissioned to make astonishing discoveries over absurdly short time periods so as to launch the human race into the galactic unknown. Discovery is not a snappy process. Even if our scientific community was working full time on technological advancement, it would be a gradual process over years and years; likely decades.

A Hydrogen bomb is a fusion reactor ..... for a split second. We all know what happens after that split second. ;):p

So yes, in a way we have fusion tech.

But we can't control it.

The kind of fusion he means here is the power providing kind.

Fission, like the nuclear reactors we have today, splits atoms to create the energy.

Fusion does the exact opposite.

If I'm not totally off the mark :p

You know the funny thing about the Theory of Relativity and Quatum Theory?

Both of them can NOT be right. Yet, to the best of our knowlege, both are. Einstein even said he could not figure out the missing link between them. So, who knows whats possible or whats not?
