Delphi-PG
Hi guys, It’s been a few days since I’ve posted; just been busy solidifying the multiplayer galactic campaigns and making final balance tweaks before the game goes gold. I just wanted to apologize for all the craziness surrounding the Venator. Unfortunately, it was one of those units that really didn’t have a home on either side. Instead of leaving it in, it was decided to be removed. I would like to point out the Venator can easily be modded, it will be up to the community to figure out where it fits and how it will be used. So rest assured, the unit is not lost forever in the vacuum of space and time. Lately I’ve seen a lot of negative posts about the game and the direction it is heading. Honestly, the game is so large with so much depth, the info released only scratches the surface. It is very easy to speculate on features and mechanics that have not been thoroughly explained. Like most games, there are going to be a few things you don’t like, but I guarantee there are 100 other things that you will enjoy. Petroglyph and Lucas are committed to bringing you guys a fun and exciting strategy game with Empire at War. Matter of fact we are working around the clock to make sure it is in top shape when it hits store shelves. Those concerned about support need not be; we do have plans in place for patches post launch that will address balance bugs, exploits and general issues. We are very proud of the game we have created for SW fans and strategy gamers around the world and can’t wait for everyone to play it. Thanks for all your support and feedback, it is greatly appreciated.
Sankukai
Delphi, great hearing from you that the game is coming out great, as you said there are hundred of things that the game will be good at. I am a little dissapointed because the Venator not Venitor was out, but there are other reason we all like the game. The only unit that I dont like in the game are the Tie Mauler, they just look very stupid.
shadowsfm
the tie mauler has a self destruct? shouldnt that be a rebel ability to use car bombs?

Darth_Torpid-PG
Awww...everyone always bashing the poor TIE mauler. It's actually one of the most versatile units in the Imperial arsenal - quick, cheap and chews up targets. I actually think the concept artist did a pretty good job modifying the old TIE crawler art into something much cooler. To help Delphi out, I would be happy to answer a compiled and structured Q&A email if you guys put one together. Please try to keep it to 20 questions or less - I'm sure the other guys here kinda want me working on balance

(Just want to confirm before I inform the other mods/admins) Also, do you have any guidelines for the Q&A? Such as... No questions relating to (insert here). Jamps
I really like the TIE Mauler, it looks to have a Confederacy-style approach to it. As for the Venator, I don't get what the big deal is. Now if it were something like 'OK, were removing Darth Vader', then I would be pretty disappointed. But when you say it can easily be modded in, does this mean you guys have left it in the files, even though it isn't playable?

popcorn2008
Are only the mods from here and admins allowed to send you a e-mails, or us members as well? Noboddy is allowed to send him emails asking questions. We as a website will put together a structured Q&A to send him. Everyone will have a chance to give their input on what questions they want asked and so fourth, but please give us time to get this organized. popcorn2008
p.s Delphi and or DMUK *ONLY* will this be like the livechat, but more organized? Even though I am neither of them I have your answer. We are most likely going to ask for input from forum members as to what questions they want to ask and then compile a list. No this is not a live chat, it is a Q&A. Now back on topic, please.... Darth Alec
A lot of the negative stuff has come from me, basically from day 1. As usuall...... However, although I am rather critical particually of the limited scope of the game, I am glad that there is a new SW RTS from the team that game us the C&C series. Limited scope? This game seems very deep, or do you meen the exclution of the republic and CIS? And on another note, I'm glad you people are going to pacht this game up if needed. zeni
thx @delphi nice information. im shure you do your best for the game, but still im hoping that you will bring back venator in patch 1.1 together with a ship with same fuctions fpr the rebells. you said, that venator is a unit, who "didn’t have a home on either side" but i think thats not really true. shure it was most used by the old republic but at the end of episode 3 u see the venators for 30 secons totally repainted in gray (watch my signature) and there is a scene right before, where the imperator and darth vader ar staying near the tryangel windows of cocpit (or watever) of an venator stardestroyer. so i think its for shure, that the venator is an unit for the empire. its sad, but i have to accept it .... but rest of the game is getting really cool
Jan Gaarni
Wether or not it is a unit for the Empire, or that the Empire continued to use it after the Clone Wars, is not the point here. Of course the Empire used it for a period after the Clone Wars. But it got decommissioned. As in, it got scrapped from the Imperial Starfleet, in favour of the Imperator. shadowsfm
it would be cool if we had the VENATOR, but after countroling a surten planet, all the VENATOR gets replaced by the Imperator star destroyer. no big deal
Lew
Ok, so yeah you probably won't read this, since it's a "post drop" topic... But anyway... I respect you for coming here and explaining what the deal was with all this Venerator mess that got people riled up. Kudos for that. RE: current opinion of this community toward EAW... You're right to worry (views on the game have gone negative), but from someone with some real world pr experience- the best thing the game needs is new positive news/experiences to redirect everyone's attention. It's really hard to successfully explain away ("talk away") past events; it's a lot easier to create new events. If the demo is good, the masses here will forget anything that bugged them before- while they gleeflully play the demo until those sectors on their hard drive wear out
SRF_Vader
Or they could not worry since this community represents roughly only about 5-15% of their sales, most people who buy this game wont care if the venator got removed, or if it was once in, or any of that simple stuff.
