Katarn07
The first 'side scrolling Mario game' since Super Mario World 2*, this DS game actually was one of two ideas of mine. My other idea for a game was you play as Bowser and invade the Mushroom Kingdom. The 'enemies' were actually the heroes of the series. Instead of Koopas, you stomp toadstools. I'd rather have that, but hey, this works too, right? *Super Mario World 2 was one where you play as Yoshi and not really the same gameplay. The videos show the gameplay is a bit different but I'm sure it'll be as good as Mario Bros 2 or Super Mario World 2 (my least favs in the series). For pure side scrolling Mario fun, we have to wait for New Super Mario Bros..
BongoBob
I dunno. I think my cousin is gonna get it, and I'll see if it warrants a buy or not.
IG-64
Mario Bros 2 or Super Mario World 2 (my least favs in the series) My least favorite is Super Mario Bros. 2, but i'll have to disagree with you after that, I've always thought Super Mario World 2 was one of the best Mario games out there. that and Mario RPG. And anyone remember Yoshi's Story? that was a complete failure.
Lynk Former
ANY side scrolling Mario game is worth getting. That's all that needs to be said. Oh and yeah, Yoshi's Island rocked

Katarn07
I only played a bit of it on my little sister's Game Boy. Maybe if I had played it on the SNES or even my DS, I'd have better feelings on it. I didn't get the point of the thing though. Why was Mario a baby? The story of the game was that Mario and Luigi were being delivered to their parents by a stork and (baby) Bowser captured Luigi, so now the Yoshis have to get Luigi back to his brother. It's a really good game, I think you should play it through. It's probably best played on the SNES though, but i've never tried it on the Game Boy. Chuck Norris did. "An airplane crashed here." Darth_Extas
I had heard about this, but Peach was in another side-scrolling Mario game (I forget the name). Toad was with her as well, of course the Mario brothers were. This game was when you pulled stuff out of the ground to throw at possibly Bowser's minions. This game had Birdo in it if that helps any of you remembering this game.
Katarn07
Super Mario 2. Commonly considered one of the, if not the, worst Mario side scroller ever made. I still like it, yet will only play it if I just beat all the others within the past year or whatever. This game looks different than that in that there are Koopas and Bowser plays a role. Also she's carrying an umbrella dealie. SMB2's problem was there was no Bowser or Mushroom Kingdom.
Lynk Former
The problem with Super Mario Bros. 2 was that it wasn't a pure Mario game, it was based on Doki Doki Panic. Super Mario Bros. 3 was SUPPOSED to be Super Mario Bros. 2 but it suffered heavy setbacks and was delayed for quite a long time. Nintendo, being the big greedy bastards they were back in those days decided that they should retrofit Doki Doki Panic and release it as Super Mario Bros 2. and hope for the best until Super Mario Bros. 3 is released. http://www.nintendoland.com/home2.htm?funfacts/smb2doki.htm

How did they get away with that? Shy Guy is in that Doki Doki thing and remains the same in the SMB2 game! The couldn't at least change it to a Koopa Troopa or something? One thing I'll give SMB2 is the different ability thing carries over into future games, such as Super Mario 64 DS and all the ports to GBA (ie, Luigi is taller and can now float). Katarn07
I read that article all the way through and see why now there was no legal problems. But suddenly, I did know Lost Levels was the Japanese SMB2! Damn, I never beat that game. Between me and my sisters, we can get to world 8 but none of us could ever beat that.... Katarn07
hell, the lost levels was easier than the 1st mario bros. i dunno why. Really? SMB1 and SM64 are the only Mario games (me, myself, with no help from anyone) can beat on my own. I get bored of Mario 2 and 3 easily and I can't do Super Mario World 100% on my own but can at least get to Bowser and save the Princess.
