One problem with this, i think Gamespot are gonna be hosting the file, and unless your subscribed (ie paying monthly) then you can only download at a certain rate.

I have seen more and more sites hosting large trials and demos (MMOs mainly) using Bit Torrent. Think this would be a good option.

Just need to remmber to redownload Getright, to make it quicker

Mate, Download Accelerator Plus is way better than Getright; believe me, i tried Getright and it does nothing (black ad here but it's true :)).

Well, this is the bigger "demo" i've seen so far. I expected it to be big, since 5 tutorial missions is not something to underestimate, but the correct word for this is "enormous" :) .

Well, im sure that this demo will keep us down on our chairs till 17th February ;)

Thanks again to Petro and Lec (*cough cough* thanks going mainly to Petro...:))

DarkLeeLee, darthfergie and to everyone with slow internet connection; here are two gateways for your problem.

1. Sneak into a university public computer station* and download the demo. Most unis around the world have T3 or cable which mean you'll be done within 30mins. Then, you insert it to a flash disk (or burn it on a cd if possible) and you're done. If you're not a student (so no pass in the public station) you may enter if you have a friend student. (*at least in Greece we have such stations). Personally, although by Wednesday i'll probably have 1mbps dsl connection (now is 384), im thinking of downloading the demo from my uni; 400 and 500kB/s is always better than 1mbps. Yet, if the server is slow, i'll just let my server in the other room downloading all the night :) - DAP will do the rest f the work (shutdown etc etc).

2. Get in an internet cafe, download it and copy it on a flash disk. In most internet cafes burning a cd has an outrageous cost, so i don't recommend this. Also, you will have to pay the minimum internet usage...

We will be using BITorrent for the demo, but that probably wont be until 24 hours after its release as I havent the time to convert it and upload it.

lol

1. I'm on a university campus, they just don't like extended large bandwidth transfers and your download gets slowed down massively. That's the short hand, I don't really feel like going in to detail. Don't think it would take just 30 minutes though considering the demo will have just come out, the transfer speeds won't be racing and the lines for various download sites will be long. *shrug*

2. I'm on a university campus in rural town USA. No internet cafes. Nor do I feel like driving over an hour to get to a place that does. Plus my 1GB flash drive has all sorts of projects and such for classes that take up about half of the space.

heh *shrug* C'est la Vie :)

call me lazy, but oh well. I think I'll survive until I grab an issue of PCGamer with the demo CD.

Woot! :D Just finished signing up for Game Spot complete, so my download will be "blazing" fast. Hopefully... ;) Can't wait!

It was 5.95 for a monthly subscription and Ill just cancel by next month. I would suggest this to anyone who really wants the demo fast.

Hmm, i wonder if i can join today or so or wed, download the demo then cancel after i get it. Hehe. Or do you need to be a memb for least a month?

According to their terms and conditions if you sign up at the monthly rate you can cancel, but you must cancel 10 days before the next month. So im gonna cancel by the end of january to be safe.

So i can't cancel unless its 10 days before? Hmm, will i have to pay before then or after?
