BongoBob
They announced that Halo 2 will come out on PC, but with a catch. You can only play it on Vista. http://www.xbox-scene.com/xbox1data/sep/EEFAVkpZlVniPrzqef.php I know a couple of people that are strict PC gamers that are gonna be pissed. narfblat
That's what happens when you have games made by Micro$oft. Do they even try to give a good reason, or do they openly admit this is a ploy to get people to buy Vista?
TiE23
Heheh... I already own it on Xbox. So there. *Looks at Bongo* Oh, and also, I'll probably be getting Vista anyway. Cause I feel no pity for those who still run Windows 98.

ChAiNz.2da
Why don't Mac users bitch everytime a game comes out that is exclusive to Windows?I can't really answer for all Mac users... but I didn't buy my Mac for games Doesn't mean I'd complain if Mac did have a decent selection of games that wasn't 3 years old (if only ), but until then I have a PC for that task As for Vista.. meh, I don't buy a new OS until there's at least a revision or 2 to catch all the major bugs... 1st release OS' are a deathwish or for those who have nothing they don't mind losing/not working (IMO)... I'm in the same boat as Boba Rhett.. I don't even want Vista, but inevitably it's going to be a requirement, even if it's 5+ years from now. But I'll bitch & moan when that time comes.. hehehe.. toms
That's what happens when you have games made by Micro$oft. Do they even try to give a good reason, or do they openly admit this is a ploy to get people to buy Vista? Not really - lots of waffle about maximising the experience for users or some such rubbish. With XP itwas years before games became XP only. I was able to pootle along with my old version of windows until last year when I needed to upgrade to XP to play Doom3. Almost wish I hadn't bothered. Stongarming people into upgrading is unlikely to be popular.. people like to have time for a lot of the flaws/kinks to be ironed out. Haven't played halo 2... but halo 1 wouldn't have been worth an upgrade.. and the halo 1 PC port was supposed to be horribly optimised. So i'd think if you were desperate to play halo 2 you'd be able to get it and an xbox for well under $200.
Samuel Dravis
Really, the benefits of Vista seem to be close to nothing. They've taken everything cool that was going to be in it and are putting that into XP. The only thing Vista has left is oppressive DRM and a 'pretty' interface. I don't want a resource hog, I don't want trusted computing (guess who they're not trusting - you), I just want it to run my programs and actually allow me my fair use rights. XP works quite well; I won't be, ah, 'upgrading' if I can help it.
toms
Trusted computing is the worst idea in the history of computing evar! Maybe vista won't turn out as bad as i expect.. but if it does then i'll be seriously considering going Mac.. or even linux. (since everything cool in vista is nicked from OSX anyway. I'm sure there was a steve jobs presentation where he went through all the promised features of vista and shows OSX could do them already. )
MTV2
I can't really answer for all Mac users... but I didn't buy my Mac for games ya, people dont really buy macs for games, they buy them for digital imaging, or web and print publishing, basically all the adobe programs and for photography since there so easy to use and are already setup, just have to install then open program, everythings in there proper folder and all, macs are just not frustrating. Kurgan
SD beat me to it, but... That's absolute baloney. ONE OPERATING SYSTEM? Talk about a dumb ploy. They clearly want to pimp their OS. There's no other reason to do this. Pure undisguised greed! Forget that... the console version will make more money anyway. I see no reason to "upgrade" to Vista. I'll stick with 2kpro (and possibly toss in Mandrake or RH Linux for variety). Oh yes, I definately need to ugprade my hardware to run a "pretty" winblowz with DRM. Welcome. i'd get vista after like 2 years of its release...since the 360 thing, i rather hear the reviews first then buy. i'd get vista prolly soon, since my dad's work makes him get the newest OS systems and we get a fair discount, so w/e, ill get Halo 2 for the pc, i rather get it for the pc cuz u can mod it all and get a ton more maps then the map pack for the xbox. Sabretooth
Oh, I now this situation. It's like Microsoft announces a new OS and everyone goes like "OOH! WOWS!" and then they drop some bad news and everyone goes like "YUCK! DAMN! **** MICROSOFT!" and then they make some programs that are OS-Specific and everyone goes like "OMG! WTF! WE'RE DOOOOMED!!!" and then three years later they buy the crap and go like "OMG I CAN'T IMAGINE LIFE WITHOUT THIS N3W OS!!!!".
