narfblat Posted March 17, 2006 Posted March 17, 2006 Why you shouldn't just tear up credit card applications.
jon_hill987 Posted March 17, 2006 Posted March 17, 2006 I can't believe that could happen how stupid must they be to accept a torn up and taped together aplication? *Runs to buy shreader* *thinks about it* *Runs to buy matches*
ET Warrior Posted March 18, 2006 Posted March 18, 2006 That's actually more than a little disconcerting.
IG-64 Posted March 18, 2006 Posted March 18, 2006 I have the fortune of having a shredder, which I use with glee on all the applications I get. (apparently 17 isn't too young to sign up for a credit card)
swphreak Posted March 18, 2006 Posted March 18, 2006 I don't know, maybe it's just the shredder I have, but it'd be no problem taping the papers back to together. All the thing does is shred them in a line. I guess it makes the thieves work a bit harder, and if it's too much work they move on. That's pretty panthetic, I'd definately try to throw a big stink at the company if I did what the guy did, and they accepted it.

Yes but even if you have a not so good shredder, if you shred alot of things, it'll put it all in the same bin and get it mixed up with all the other shredded stuff making it nearly impossible to find all the pieces and put them back together.
IG-64 Posted March 18, 2006 Posted March 18, 2006 Wouldnt burning them be much more safer? Identity theft > burned down house
Jeff Posted March 18, 2006 Posted March 18, 2006 Why would the credit card company be dumb enough to accept the torn up application...

Not impossible, just a really, really, really big pain in the buttocks. Moe: They want your money and you in debt, of course they'll accept it.
Datheus Posted March 18, 2006 Posted March 18, 2006 Yeah, they'll pretty much take whatever they can get. This is why I burn almost all of my paper trash, especially what I consider sensitive.

jebbers Posted March 18, 2006 Posted March 18, 2006 i like the 'Save three dollars when you buy a shredder to shred this application'
