Robe Reskin opinion

Recommended Posts

Hi, I'm new to this place. I've been pretty much playing the KOTOR series since it was originally released, but only on the xbox. Recently I figured I'd grab the PC version of the original for the sole purpose of tinkering with it. :p

Anyways, heres what I've been working on recently, a reskin of the jedi robe on the original. I'll probably release it when soon, I need to be 100% happy with it first. >_>

Options, improvements or just general comments are welcome.

Nice :D

To be honest though, it looks very much like Mortal Kombat's "Scorpion"... was that your intention? If not, don't be surprised about similar comments (I don't consider it a bad thing ;) )..

however, if you were specifically going for the look, you pretty much hit it spot on!

In any case.. great job! and welcome to the Modder's Ranks!

Welcome to the Forums! :waive1:

Yeah, I noticed the similarities to Scorpian too. :p And thanks for the welcome.

The yellow-ness of it was actually taken from a costume Leia wore in something, It's just stuck in the back of my mind until now. I might experiment with different colours and such, and see what happens.

Oh don't get me wrong, the Scorpion reference wasn't an insult.. it looks great :D

If you do experiment with other colors, be sure to keep the yellow version as well :)

Did you do the patterns in there yourself or are they part of the original texture and I just never noticed?

Either way I agree with Pavlos that the blue one is quite nice. I don't so much like the yellow one because it's just too much yellow - it needs something to break it up a little so it doesn't just look like a big sea of yellow. Maybe add a complementary trim color?

The pattern is custom and isn't on the original robe texture.

I've altered the pattern, it looked too simple being only 1px thick. I've also added a grey trim along the edges of the main overlay robe. I'm pretty happy with it at the moment, with only perhaps slight changes in the belt and wrist bands.

There's a strange problem I've encountered. Up until now to get like a section of the skin PVC shiny I've simply made it slightly transparent in the relevant area, this works perfectly when the robes are on the PC yet when they go on another like Bastilla or Juhani, there are actually transparent and you can see pretty much straight through them. >_>

Have you changed your assigned shader in the envmap column of your appearance.2da?

A value of "Default" will make you have the swiss-cheese look ;)

You'll want to change the value to something such as "CM_Baremetal"...

That or there was (I think) another method to do this, but I can't find it to save the life of me.. I think oldflash hints on it here:

http://www.lucasforums.com/showthread.php?t=153502

BUT, I've never been able to get a chrome effect to work just by adjusting a .txi file entry (for clothing).. maybe it's just me that has badluck

I should have a look in kotor\override but I thing txi file will be enought to set chrome effect for bastila and juhani cloth.

Just make a text file with same name as texture file but .txi extension and inside put envmaptexture cm_baremetal. If doesn't work you need to edit appearance.2da like ChAiNz.2da suggest.

 Wow! Major improvements, they're all fantastic...

hehehe.. I couldn't help but notice the name of your .jpg (blah)

Far from it, these look superb... the texturing pattern makes a world of difference, and the fact that you didn't go overboard with the "shiny" parts (something I'm dreadfully guilty of) makes them even better... :)

So, no Sith version?

- Dream Evil :vamp1:

The Black and Red robes are essentially the Sith versions. I actually did create a quick variation with black robes and red patterns, but It didn't really look right.

Anyways I submitted the file to just Filefront at the moment, so that should appear for download soon. I tried PCGAMEMODS too, but it seems to have an error when uploading files.

Cool, I guess that means I'm officially a modder. :p

Yay! let the hazing commence! :devsmoke: hehehe...

hey Silveredge9, might I suggest you create a release thread here in TUCE? It's our mod release announcement board that acts as a central "go to" spot for feedback on your mod and such...

It'll help get you more exposure, and ensure that you get mentioned in our Mod Reports on the SWK website :D
