Commander Obi-Wan
Rudi Johnson sure had a good game. Good for the Bengals to win another. And the Bears sure aren't lettting up. If they play like this for the rest of the season, they will definitely be a Super Bowl contender. Grossman seems fine for the moment. I don't really feel bad for Mario Williams. Just don't know why. Though, the Texans in general didn't play horribly offensively. Carr had a great game.
Cygnus Q'ol
I hate to say it and I'm not tryin' to flame or piss off Texan fans, but what the frick were they thinking to pass up Reggie Bush or Vince Young or even Lendell White? I can understand Young since they have Carr established. However, they are still in need of a running game and Bush was the best runner in college last year. Picking Bush and beefing up the O-line should have been priority (IMO). Nothing against Mario. He's a monster and his impact is eminent. There are a few defensive concerns as well. Da Bears are playing well and are starting to look very promising. However, they still haven't played anyone with a serious attack yet. The Vikes should test the offensive line a little bit more this week. I hope they are up to the task. If the D-line can get to Johnson like they did Favre and Kitna, and the offense continues to score, They should come outta Minne with a W. I have my eye on Cinncinnati. They look very promising. If I were forced to watch another team on Sundays, I guess The Bengals would be them. Wouldn't it be great if the Bears met them in February? Hey, I can dream, can't I? mimartin
Anyone else besides me think it's just _wrong_ to have the Super Bowl in February? January will be even more boring without it. I consider February Football un-American similar to November Baseball. I hate to say it and I'm not tryin' to flame or piss off Texan fans' date=' but what the frick were they thinking to pass up Reggie Bush or Vince Young or even Lendell White?[/quote'] Don’t worry about that, all the Texan fans I know would agree 100% with you. Not having a pro-football team in the Houston area has forced me to watch other teams ( and NO, Dallas is not an option). So far this season I’m impressed with the Cincinnati, Chicago, Indianapolis and Jacksonville. I haven’t seen the other 2-0 teams; Atlanta, New Orleans, Baltimore, New England and San Diego play yet. I would be jumping on the Cincinnati bandwagon, but after Monday nights game Jacksonville’s defense look like the real deal. As long as Nathan Vasher is on Da Bears I’ll be rooting for them to make the Super Bowl (since Roy Williams and the Lions aren’t going anywhere). A Bears vs. Jacksonville Super Bowl would be great if you love defense. How’s 0 to 0 after 3 overtimes sound?

Cygnus Q'ol
Anyone else besides me think it's just _wrong_ to have the Superbowl in February? January will be even more boring without it. It's good to see another traditionalist still around. Most I talk with want an even longer season. Now, I love football as much as the next, but the season, to me, is long enough as it is. First off, there are way too many pre-season games. How many players annually get hurt in pre-season? It's rhetorical and I have no idea, but I'm sure it's a lot. Now, there's this ridiculous month or so after the playoffs 'til the Superbowl. I actually lost a large amount of interest by the time the Superbowl rolled around. Pretty soon, if this keeps up, we'll be watching the Superbowl in the spring. My family has traditions that go along with the Superbowl and the college bowl games. Those are all but gone now with the way the schedules have been expanding and extending later and later into the new year. New Year's day used to be a special day with my family, especially with me and my father. Mom would make us a special dinner and he and I would spend the day together mostly centered around football. Those were the days when the Cotton, Sugar, Rose, and Orange bowls all use to be on the same day. New Year's Day. We've since adapted to the ever-changing scheduling, but it's never the same. It always seems like I'm always whining about the good old days, I guess that's what you do when you get old. I suppose it would all be worth it if the BEARS won the Superbowl. Jae Onasi
Whoohoo, Bears! 3-0 in the division! I was pretty dejected about how it just wasn't coming together offensively for the Bears, and it was looking like they would lose. That was until the last couple of minutes in the game when the D made the fumble happen and Grossman hit Davis in the endzone to put the Bears ahead. Then the D shut down the Vikings and they lost the ball on downs at 1:05 left. Missed tackles were a glaring problem this game--we were watching one play and 5 different guys got a hand on one of the Vikings before he finally went down. How do you get 5 missed tackles in a row? What can I say, an ugly win is still a win. I've noticed in any contest that the best team will win more often than not. However, I've noticed that a significant number of times, it's not always the best team--it's the team that plays like they really want it that wins. The Bears may not be the best in the NFL, but they're playing with greater heart and passion than I've seen a number of other teams play--there's a certain fire that they have that keeps them going even when it looks like they might not make it. I believe they only have 3 more division games, and at 3-0 in the division now, they have a decent chance of making the playoffs even this early in the season. I'm looking forward to the game against the Seahawks next week.

Mav
How's that taste New England? Bitter? Hard to get down? Broncos are looking better every week. Look out AFC. We have another Broncos fan??? I suddenly don't feel so lonely. I must say, that Grossman showed his inexperience and inconsistency this week, BUT he also showed a lot of composure, confidence and some of that ever valuable "intangible" and even though he made a huge mistake, his defense gave him the ball back and for once, the Grossman and the Bears offense capitalized, and in the end thats what counts, taking advantage of those opportunities. However, in a game with more meanign for me at least, the Broncos beat the Patriots tonight 17-7, I actually made a prediction last week that the Broncos would win 17-9, so I was close . Anyway, it was nice and refreshing to see that the Broncos finally picked an official RB starter and made the right choice in Bell... Tatum that is. It was also very refreshing to see that Plummer didn't throw a pick this game and in fact threw 2 TD's, both to Javon Walker. The Broncos defense finally gave up a TD, but it was on an absolutely brilliant catch, so I don't feel so bad about it . The defense also showed a bit of a weakness however, they looked sluggish and unconditioned, but they did get banged and bruised up quite a bit, Darrent Williams with a neck injury, Al Wilson's quad tightened, and various other aches and pains, but they'll bounce back I'm sure. I'm stoked about the win, since my roommate from last year is a Patriots fan, and I don't like him much if at all.

mimartin
This sucks being 1-2 and the Bengals/Ravens 3-0. I’d take 1 – 2. Would you like to try 0 -3 with a good chance of going 0 for the season like the Texans. First the Texans gave away Reggie Bush to New Orleans or Vince Young to the Titans now they give Washington their first victory. No, Houston didn’t need a quarterback David Carr is the man in 63 games he has 80 turnovers (54 interceptions and 26 fumbles). Compared this to Drew Brees who has 61 games played with 59 turnovers (55 interceptions and 4 fumbles) the fumbles really stand out. Not that much difference other than the fumbles that can somewhat be blamed on Houston’s terrible pass protection, so compare touchdowns 83 TD for Brees and 60 for Carr. I believe Carr can be a decent quarterback for some NFL team, just not the Texans and their nonexistent pass protection.

Jae Onasi
Oh, yeah, Jae's doing the happy dance--Bears just rolled right over the Seahawks. 37-6 is quite a statement to last year's champ.... Only undefeated team in the NFC right now--woohoo! D allowed no touchdowns again and got 2 interceptions and a few sacks, including some in key spots/times. O got the running game going, protected Grossman, and the receivers and he connected pretty well.

mimartin
I hope that the Texans can become as good or better then the Oilers of the late 70's to early 80's. That will never happen. The teams lead by Earl Campbell will never be duplicated. They made one day match the records of the Oilers of the early 90’s lead by Warren Moon. The same team that broke my heart every year (anyone remember the Buffalo overtime game). There may be great teams in the Texans future (way distance future) but I will never feel anywhere near the emotions I have/had for the Bum Phillips and Earl Campbell lead Oilers of the Luv you Blue days. They never won anything (thanks to the Steelers, who IMO had one of the greatest teams in NFL history), but they capture the heart of the community as seen by 70,000 fans showing up at the Astrodome after their 27-13 loss (including a 15 year old me). The Oilers were the laughing stock of the NFL till Bud Adams talked Tampa Bay into trade their Number #1 pick to them. They became the laughing stock again, but for a few years the Oilers were arguable the second best team in the NFL. The Texans won! Mario Williams had 1 1/2 sacks!! Oh, it was against Miami and Miami beat Tennessee, that means the Texans aren’t the worst team in the NFL. Chicago is starting to look like the best team in the NFL. What happen to Jacksonville? The looked great against the Steelers a couple weeks ago, but now have two losses in a row. I will forgive the Colt loss, but a loss to the Redskins? ET Warrior
If the Broncos could figure out their offense (read: Jake Plummer) I think they would be among the elite in the NFL. With as solid a defense and running game as we have, if Jake could be consistant we'd be a team to truly fear. Jake continually shows moments of greatness, followed up by sequences of sheer idiocy. I think he will figure it out as the season progresses, and by the end of the season nobody will want to play the Broncos.
