I think it’s time to move on to Phase II

 

O.K here is probably the most fun part of this project of ours, we get to create new worlds and civilizations. Now let’s create planets and people captain Kirk will be proud to discover.

 

Originally I was going to do this by having us all work together to create each individual empire. But I worked out that this would take too long and we’d probably end up arguing and not actually get anywhere.

 

So instead I have decided to hold a little competition. It’s quite simple, everyone who wants to will submit a proposal for their idea of what would have happened to one of the colonies. Simply fill out the ‘Emipre Creation Sheet’ below and post, once we have done it and gotten all submissions we’ll have a vote to pick the four we would like in the RP. You can use my submission as an example so you know exactly how I would like you to lay out your submission.

 

Remember to stick with in the bounds we have already discussed and be prepared to have it changed as thing decided in the future may change small details.

 

I’ll give us until the Saturday after next (the 21st) when I’ll go into detail about how the voting will work. Let your imagination go wild, and good luck.

Climate and Terrain: -

The planet of Poseidon is an oceanic world where less than 1% of the world’s surface is covered by Landmass. Most of the world’s landmass is formed into a single island, called Pangaea, which is primarily a barren desert surrounded by fields of a grass like plant located just north of the equator. Pangaea has only two seasons known as the wet and dry season (or summer and winter).

 

History of Colonization: -

The colony ship landed in one of the larger fields, as the most notable feature of the planet was it’s abundance water it was named Poseidon after the mythological God of the sea from Ancient Greece on Earth. The colonists begun to construct the first city around the Landing site of the colony ship and called it Atlantis initially as a joke but it was soon made official. However food on the island was scarce in the early stages of development so a smaller second settlement was constructed at the coastline as high amounts of aquatic-life were found in the oceans. Scouts were sent out across the island to find resources for the rapidly expanding settlements and large quantities of a strong metal were found within the desert. This led to a mining settlement to develop there and it’s growth led to the discovery of an alien crude oil. The crude Oil was found to be having special properties that made it a highly efficient fuel for everything from powering house to Star ship engines. The three settlements continued to grow to appoint where the natural resources had ran out. As there were no natural resources on the land 5 large underwater facilities were built all around the planet. These underwater facilities started off as small mining, drilling and fishing outposts but they began to grow into large underwater facilities. They began to explore the surrounding systems just out of curiosity, after they discovered the other colonies the Olympians Built 3 border space stations to keep a check on all those entering and leaving the solar system.

 

Genetics: -

Natural Mutation has begun to take place over the last 100 years in a very specific way. Some of the Colonists living in the underwater cities have begun to mutate to better adapt to life under the sea in mild and extreme ways. On one end the humans have higher young capacities and on the other they have a third lung that stores oxygen and thicker skin to withstand higher pressures than average. Genetic engineering is illegal in Olympia.

 

Wildlife: -

All the animal life on Poseidon is aquatic, they include types of fish, Insects and Reptiles. The planet had developed a very simple food chain where the insects eat the aquatic plants, the fish eat the insects and the reptiles eat the fish. The three most notable creatures on the planet are Ludits, Poseidon sharks and Leviathans. The Ludit is the most common fish on the planet and has developed all over the planet, The Ludit has also become the primary food source for humans on the planet. Poseidon sharks are remarkable similar to the hammerhead Shark which was found on earth, they are known as the most aggressive predator on the planet and hunt in Packs, they even attack the human ships and submarines. The Leviathan Is the biggest marine animal on the planet, the average male is 75 meters in length and the children are hatched 12 meters long. It is a predator and like the Sharks has been known to attack Human vessels, Fortunately it is only found in one area on the Poseidon, Unfortunately it’s around one of the Underwater cities.

 

Galactic Expansion: -

Demeter Mining Colony: During early Space exploration the planet later called Demeter (Named after the Greek God of agriculture.) was accidentally discovered when a ship miss calculated a Hyperspace jump. The planet was found to have a great deal of valuable minerals and it was decided to start a mining colony there. The colony has remained small and only holds around 80 miners.

Apollo Reseach Outpost: Because the path between Demeter and Poseidon is interrupted by a nebula. Hyper-gates Were built either side of the nebula, At first ships traveled through the nebula without a problem but after a while Pirates began attacking the ships. So it was decided that a military outpost would be built halfway between the brake gate from poseidon and the jumpgate to Demeter within. They named it Apollo and after a while it was found to be the perfect place for research.

Hades penal Colony: Hades is a world that does not rotate so one side of the planet is always facing the sun while the other is in permanent darkness. The ‘Hot’ side is a constant 200 degrees Celsius while the dark side is –60, The planet would not have been colonized if a rare mineral called Titrusglass that is transparent but as strong as reinforced titanium wasn't discovered on the planet. The fact no one would sign up to work here led to the development of a Penal Colony, The colony is an underground network of tunnels cells and mining equipment with a single landing pad on the surface. At first prisoners were treated, as slaves to help the growing empire but now all prisoners must volunteer in exchange for early parole and other privileges. The Military act as wardens and Guards as no civilian would willingly volunteer for this job.

Ares Station/Athena docks: After the military was formed and Hyperspace exploration had begun, It was decided that the military should have a special facility for the training of troops, construction of ships and general management of its operations. At first it was to be built on the planet but that idea was dismissed in favour for a space station and dry-docks to be built in deep space away from the solar system. Athena docks are ran by a civilian corporation.

 

Politics: -

The Olympians are ruled by what is known as the Atlantan Quorum, the quorum is made up of 11 members, 1 elected representative from each of the 8 cities on Poseidon, 1 elected representative Demeter, the Militaries top General and The Elected President of Poseidon. The president and representatives each serve a term of 4 years, where as the General is the highest-ranking member of the military and stays until the day he retires (or dies). The Atlantan Quorum meets inside a building wich has been nicknamed ‘The Glass Mansion’ as the building is completely made from Titrusglass in Atlantis.

 

Military & Crime Prevention: -

The Military is split into three sections, Planetary Defence, the Navy, and the Poseidon Exploration Fleet (P.E.F). Planetary Defence stay on the ground of Poseidon, Demeter and Hades. They are in charge of the surface to orbit weapons as well as being the wardens on Hades, Their primary job is to defend the planet from invasion. The Navy is the largest of the three militaries they have command of the larger ships and are in charge of guarding the Jump Gates. They also Man the border stations. The P.E.F is only made up of six small ships capable of travelling long distances in hyperspace for years, they are considered the Elite of the military and have the Sole duty to Explore the galaxy.

Crime prevention is done by the Poseidon Police Service, they are completely separate from the military all suspected criminals are tried in a court by a jury of civilians.

Climate and Terrain: -

New Sahara is a planet with a nearly even ratio of land to water. It has a very hot climate, although the maximum recorded temperature was only 135 degrees Fahrenheit. Even the polar regions are warm, since the heat is distributed around the planet, due to atmospheric factors. Most of the water on the planet is contained in a single lake, which surprisingly consists of fresh water, constantly purified by a unique species of desalinizing baceria. The land mass is gathered into a single continent (although there are a few islands). Most of it is desert, although near the shores of the Great Lake and some other bodies of water, there are thin bands of tropical jungle. The planet's surface abounds with thousands of canyons and magnificent natural rock formations.

 

History of colonization: -

The colony ship landed on the planet, and after seeing the climate, the name New Sahara was almost unanimously chosen. They settled next to one of the smaller lakes, farming every inch they could to provide food for the colony. After they made plans to build a complex irrigation system to increase output, a mining settlement was started to provide the raw materials. One of the earliest mines met with disaster when their explosive charges went off too early, but the incident ultimately turned out for the best, as it opened the way into a vein of altronium, which they might not have otherwise discevered. The liquid metal was highly radioactive and was soon put to good use powering everything from factories to vehicles. The Apex Exploration Program was eventually created to explore the surrounding systems, and Apex has built numerous space stations - both to protect the planet from outsiders, and to keep those they want inside from getting out.

 

Genetics: -

Apex has been working on genetically enhancing its soldiers for some time, and the results have been spectacular. While about 50% have adverse reactions from the procedures, most of the rest turn out amazing, and the government has continued with the program. Meanwhile, non-government-engineered mutants have begun turning up all over the planet. Most of the mutations are fairly benign, such as blue skin or the ability to go without water for longer than usual, but recently there have been reports of more powerful beings emerging. This has created much consternation for many high-ranking officials, who believe that they pose a considerable threat to their power. Leading researchers theorize that the mutations are so diverse because they spring from the planet's saturation with naturally-occurring radioactive isotopes, and not from normal evolutionary causes.

 

Wildlife: -

One of the most puzzling species to the scientists of Apex is the desalinizing bacteria found in New Sahara's water. It does not harm living organisms, and seems to get its energy from breaking down salts. Researchers have been looking into its unique metabolism to try to fathom it, so they can synthesize the mechanism and use it themselves to develop an alternative energy source, but so far they remain baffled.

 

The Nopakrun is a terrestrial organism, although it does swim on occasion. It is a reptilian quadruped, measuring about four meters from nose to tail. It is incredibly fast and powerful. It has narrow yellow eyes, and a retractable crest on its long, narrow head. Its teeth are sharp, and it sports two long fangs that produce a deadly neurotoxin, which it can spit with deadly accuracy from up to thirty feet away. Skin contact with the toxin produces spreading paralysis and tissue degradation. It can kill a man in ten seconds if injected directly into the bloodstream. Apex scientists have managed to synthesize an antidote, and are currently working on possible medical applications for the toxin.

 

Galactic Expansion: -

The Apex Exploration Program ground to a halt when the Uprising started, so there have been no major expeditions to other planets. However, they did scout one planet, promptly christened Ice Cube by the first astronaut to set foot on it. The name stuck. It is entirely frozen, which could make colonization difficult, but it is believed to be a good source of altronium, which has recently began to run in short supply. Supporters of AEPRO belive that the potential profit would certainly outweigh the difficulties.

 

Politics: -

The first government of Apex was based on a republican system. A head of the government, called the Chief, was elected every ten years by the adults of the colony, and a Universal Assembly, composed of twenty-five members, was chosen in the same manner, five of the Assemblymen being elected every year, so the entire Assembly would be renewed in five years. The Chief could propose laws, which then had to ratified by gaining a majority of votes in the General Assembly. The General Assembly could also attempt to pass laws. If a proposed law gained a two-thirds majority in the General Assembly, it would be sent to the Chief for ratification. If the Chief did not approve the law, a four-fifths majority was required to pass it.

 

Unfortunately, over the years, politicians began to mess with the system, buying people's votes and twisting government funds for their own use. Eventually, the government became so corrupted that an ambitious Chief managed to amend the Constitution, giving himself the final say in all matters. The government is now basically a dictatorship, the General Assembly existing only nominally, with no real power. The society has gradually seperated into a caste system. Only select groups of noble families have the right to vote for Chief. Slavery has become an accepted fact of life, with about a fifth of the population in involuntary servitude, with nothing to call their own, not even their lives.

Dissatisfied with the government, many slaves, commoners, and even some of the nobles have joined together, forming a rebel group they call the Avengers, and are trying to wear the enemy forces, and eventually change the government for the better. Apex refers to both the group and the incident as the Uprising.

 

Military & Crime Prevention: -

The military consists of an Army, a Navy, and an elite group of genetically-engineered soldiers known as Marines whose sole job is to eliminate the Uprising. Military outposts are stationed around the planet, both to keep people out - and in.

 

Most court cases are tried before a judge and jury of twelve randomly selected civilians, but important cases are brought before the Chief and General Assembly to decide. Of course, many people that spoke against the government merely vanished in mysterious accidents, with no pretense of impartiality.

 

The crime prevention is handled by a division of the army, the Special Forces, who were genetically engineered to be good at reading people. Many believe some of them have the power of telepathy, but this has not been confirmed, and even if it is true, it can obviously be used only over very short distances.

Colony Ship Order: Canada; Brazil; Europe; Asia

 

Colony World: Ewocia

 

Climate and Terrain:

- The planet of Ewocia is basically 85% landmass with small lakes scattered across the planet. It is humid most of the time and will snow biannually in the polar regions. It has many trees, that grow on flat land with small hills and has no extreme changes in heights, like cliffs. The land is mostly grass with sand around teh lakes. There is one desert called "The Giant's Sand Box", which has a large surface area, like a sand box. There is only one mountain covered with trees so it looks like a giant grassy hill.

 

History of colonization:

- The colonies ship jumped out of the unsafe hyperspace, and found a planet that was green, with a tanish box-shaped area called "The Giant's Sand Box." They decided to land there since the ship had some damage done to it in the hyperspace jump. The ship crashed lightly into the desert and they formed a colony near the edge of the desrt in the woods. The second colony started on the opposite side of the desert near the oasis, one of the mini lakes spotting the planet. The third is located in the middle of the woods again next to a lake to supply with water and food. The fourth located not far from the thrid next to a lake but with a river coming from the only mountain. The people from colonists were farmers so they formed villages by cutting areas of trees down and making fields for farming on and the wood to build their villages. They now have many canals running from lake to lake, town to town to make transportation water-wise. There is a Research Colony near the Northern Polar Region to collect information on the cold weather, and any life.

 

Genetics:

- Engineering has become popular to the villages, to be able to farm with-out effort, and cut down the trees. The mercenaries working from the government have copied the ideas from the farmers and have made it for their fighting and armor benefits. The Government has been fighting to ban it but many think it is useful. Mutating has affected farmers, since they seem to grow larger than a city colonist. Many explorers and adventurers can jump higher to get from tree to tree. That is the major mutations, but the City citizens haven't changed much.

 

Wildlife:

- Small bear-like creatures roam through the woods. They are friendlier than the bears on Earth and create holes in the large trees to live in during bad weather and hibernate like a normal bear on earth does. There are many plants that have berries that are edible and inedible like the Earth cherries and blueberries. Some plants are even carnivores like the Venus Fly Trap which look just like a normal bush along a tree they don't move but can reach around 5 feet around them, devouring anything flesh-like. Small fish are commonly found in the canals. Small Insects are common around the planet, along with birds that eat them. The colonists also brought some plants like corn and such since they were farmers along with other animals like chickens and cows.

 

Galactic Expansion:

- The <Continent name> Shadow Force only reached the planet of Ewocia since they were hit by a hyperspace storm and damaged the engines and and shut them down. The exited hyperspace and came to Ewocia, before landing they noted the space around the planet. Since crash the have developed a space station that orbits the side with the sun, for light on the outside of the station.

 

Politics:

- The <Continent> Shadow Force has a democratic position and appoints an official to each small colony, including the Space station. The leader has a vice-leader along with 12 court judges. The People live life like they did on Earth free but for a price, like solar power, they pay for the taxes the government uses to make new improvements for resources and research to be found. The people pay mostly for water though even though some people get it from the river coming from the mountain.

 

Military & Crime Prevention:

- One judge from Court came along the journey and continued the Court by electing new members that seem fit for the job. They have punishments like jails and mostly things from Earth. There is a police force that continually scans the planet for anything unusual.

Colony World: Fariska

 

Climate and Terrain: -

Fariska is a lot like earth. 67 % of it is water. There are three main continents, one of which is mostly islands. The entire planet has a winter season, which is warmest in the southren hemisphere. There are some jungle areas, on the island continent, and two considerable deserts. The continent that straddles the equator is extremely mountainous. It has a beach ranging in length from 200 ft, to 14 miles. The countinent slowly slopes upward until is has visible mountians. The mointains are alpine and sub alpine in climate. The Third continent contains one of the two deserts and a lot of rolling hills. This continent is best for farming.

 

History of colonization: -

After several years of exploration the Euro Union Ship found Fariska. The leaders decided to colonize this world then. The first colony was built on the island continent.

For 200 years nothing happened except for exploration and more cities. Then one of the cities on the Mountainous continent rebelled. For five years they were independant until the government scratched together an army to quell that rebellion and other such rebellions. In another 450 years they made their first post on Fariska's moon. Soon after this post was built they discovered FTL. They didn't experimnet much with FTL for another 300 years. They spent this time streghtening their economy and making sure that they were as sound as possible. After 950 years they began seriously experimenting with FTL. Withthis came the discovery of the other four empires.

Genetics: -

General population has not mutated or evlolved in any way. THe government has made about 500 genetically enhanced soldiers however.

 

Wildlife: -

There are some ungulates native to Fariska. There do not differ a whole lot from earths species except the birds are larger. When the colonizers arived they introduced the Earth species they brought with them into the enviorment. They reacted well and now there are many wild species from earth.

 

Galactic Expansion: -

The only colony outside of Fariska is the Moon. There is a military base there as well as a shipyard, scientific research facility a sensor aray.

 

Politics: -

The government of Fariska is democratic. The three continets are dividened into provinces and each continent is semi self governed. They all are controlled by the head administration in the capital city of Fariska.

 

Military & Crime Prevention: -

Fariska has a court system and a police force seperate from the military. Each continent has it's own police force and there is also a World Wide Force.

Jedi atomic and Maverick you guys are being too specific with where your empire originates from, You need to do it so it could have come from any of the 4 colony ships. This is because if two people do what you're doing with the same colony ship it won't work, You need to order all four. Which are Europe(the one from france), North (the one from canada), South (the one from brazil) and Asia (the one from east russia)

Empire Name: Republic of Haven

 

Colony Ship Order: North, Europe, South, Asia

 

Colony World: Haven

 

Climate and Terrain: -

The landmass is split into four continents and takes up 1/3 of the total planetary area. The other 2/3 is water. The largest of the four continents contains four volcanoes in two mountain ranges in the north. Other than these, the terrain is relatively flat, mostly small rolling hills and three large plains. The second and third continents are relatively the same size; the second is almost entirely flat and is three hundred miles off the southeastern coast. The third is just off the southern coast of the largest continent and is nothing more than a desert. The fourth is nothing more than a giant valley with natural rock walls rising up from the oceans to surround it, keeping the water out.

 

The climate is moderate on all but the third continent. Haven has two seasons. During the first season, temperature ranges between 70 and 80 degrees farenheit in most places on the first continent. In the north, the temperatures are somewhat lower, between 40 and 50 degrees. The second continent has similar temperatures, but the third has temperatures between 90 and 150 degrees. The climate of the fourth is unknown.

 

During the second season, temperatures are uniformly 10-20 degrees cooler. It rains almost constantly and thick clouds block out the sun's light most of this time.

 

History of colonization: -

The colony ship touched down on the largest continent, which was quickly named Paramount. Four cities were founded at the landing spot and the colony ship was taken apart for its materials. Some of the materials were used to create smaller in-atmosphere ships to explore the rest of the planet. By these small ships, the colonists were spread to the other continents. The flatter of the two was called Harvest and was used for farming. The desert was called Mirage and generally left alone. The fourth was called the Valley and left alone for fear of flooding.

 

Genetics: -

Evolution has taken place to provide Humans with a defense against the Screechers. While all colonists still look fully Human, almost all of them have telekinetic powers. They are trained from childhood to fully control these powers. By the time they are five years old, they can easily use their teke powers to do anything from form a defensive teke wall around themselves to snapping a Screecher's neck. Like with physical Human strength, the telekinetic abilities in some are stronger than in others. Some of the strongest can use their abilities to fly, though only a few make use of this ability.

 

Wildlife: -

Small firebreathing predators known as Screechers live on Paramount. They are slightly larger than cats and have three long claws on each forward foot. Their hind quarters are smilar to those of a kangaroo, allowing them to jump high and pounce on their prey. Named for the noise they make, Screechers prey on all of the other animals living on Haven. They are extremely aggressive and when they select their prey, they're not easily stopped.

 

Hoppers are similar to in shape to rabbits, but are three times their size. They are herbivores, just like rabbits and are overly abundant. They are the primary food source of the Screechers. Humans have also taken to hunting the Hoppers as they have been discovered to have quite tender and tasty meat.

 

Galactic Expansion: -

The only expansion that has taken place is to two space stations in orbit. One is operated by the government; the other is managed by a group of scientists whose objective is as of yet unclear; though they claim to be attempting to locate Earth, the large telescope aboard the station is usually directed toward Haven's surface.

 

Politics: -

All cities are united under the Republic of Haven's Three Council. The Three Council is a group of three rulers selected by a group of ten known as the Advisors. The Advisors search the cities thoroughly, coming up with the best rulers they can find. The top three are appointed as the Three Council. A new Three Council is chosen every ten years.

 

Once the Three Council is selected, the Advisors again seem to fall into the background of the political world. However, they directly influence the Three Council, offering suggestions. Very few people realize that the Three Council is merely a mask behind which the Advisors are ruling Haven.

 

Military & Crime Prevention: -

Haven's military is small; only 300 enlisted soldiers and 10 officers. The enlisted soldiers also double as Haven's police force. Most of them have telekinetic abilities on some level. The Advisors believe that their military's teke powers will significantly make up for any lack of numbers if a fight becomes at all necessary.

 

However, they have also created an even smaller group of crime-fighters. These men and women are known only as the Twenty. The Advisors hand picked twenty men and women, each having more teke abilities than even the best military officers. The Twenty are trained to work solo or together to accomplish any objective. They have been used as assassins, city perimeter defense, bodyguards, soldiers, and hunters.

 

Whenever a situation arises that cannot be handled by the military, the Twenty are called in. Usually, it takes only two to three of them to handle the situation. Only a few citizens of Haven have powers as strong as the Twenty and should any of the Twenty be killed, the short list of citizens with that level of power is kept safely with the Advisors, ready for new recruitment if necessary.

 

The Twenty are deadly serious at all times. In fact, they seem to have absolutely no sense of humor at all. Rumors suggest that the Advisors have genetically manipulated the Twenty to erase all sense of emotion, leaving the Twenty as emotionless fighters willing to do whatever it takes to get their job done.

I haven't responded to these questions yet, so I decided I would, along with a Empire Creation Sheet, though my votes for the questions probably came a bit too late, and won't change much of anything, but oh well.

 

Question 7: Why are Lasers Limited?

1) New Tech- The technology has only recently been invented and hasn't had time to be widly used

 

Question 8: Alternate Weapons (Stinger's Suggestion)... With this question you can select multiples.

1) Rail Gun's- Projectile-based weapon that use magnetic drive systems to fire the weapons.

3) Magnetic pulse- The magnetic pulse creates and launches a magnetic shot, Unlike the Rail gun it requires no Ammo and just fires a ball of solid magnetic energy. Weapon also create's an EMP which can disable electronics.

 

Question 9: Although Hypergates are the primary use of FTL transport what should be the secondary? (All secondary types have problems, Stinger's Suggestion)

3) FTL Drive- The use Of FTL allows instantaneous transport across great distances. It's impossible to Navigate and properly plot a course for an FTL Jump, You could end up Several lightyears in any direction of your required destination. They are also influanced by gravity meaning you can end up in a a sun or black.

1) Natural- The species has evolved to adapt to its surroundings in the same way.(the whole of a colony has evolved)

Climate & Terrain: 67% of the surface is covered with water. 3% is fresh water; Making 33% of the planet covered in land, which is split into three major continents, with many islands and minicontinents. It's heavily tropical in the equatorial region, having many Tropical Jungles. The poles consist of Tundra, all the way to Steppe climates, depending on location. The Northern and Southern regions, or Polar regions consist of many mountains; Mountains can also be found in the Tropical and Temperate regions, but they're less promonent, and don't come in ranges.

 

The areas inbetween the Poles and Tropics are known as the Temperate and Desert regions. The area between the Northern Pole, and the Tropical region is known as the Temperate region, consisting of some Steppes, many Hills, Marshes, Everglades, Prairies, Temperate Grasslands/Valleys, and Temperate Forests. With colder Temperate/Tundraic climates in the northern half of the Temperate region, and warmer Semi-Tropical/Temperate climates in the southern region of the Temperate region.

 

The region between the Tropic region, and the Southern Polar region is known as the Desert region. This region has Dunes, Dry Forests, some Temperate Forests, and Boglands, Savanahs, Deep Canyons, and many Cliffs and Plateaus. It's climate goes fromDry Temperate/Semi-Tropical in the north, to Dry Temperate/Desert climates in the south.

 

History & Colonization: The colony ship landed on the planet, but rather unsuccessfully, cracking the ship in two when it hit the surface, taking many lives. The survivors soon found themselves stepping out into a forest filled with strange red barked trees, thus they named the planet, Carad-Galadh, meaning Red Tree. After long struggle they used the materials from the ship itself to create their founding city within that forest. They named the city Alphbeol, meaning swanbell, named after the leader of the people's daughter.

 

Though they grew, and expanded slowly at first, due to their loss of people, they soon founded many cities, and resource colonies. They soon grew to a numerous, and strong people, with a flurishing civilization, and mighty military strength. Though that is not to say they didn't have any civilconflicts, or hardships.

 

They soon stumbled upon many resouces; Like Fiolium, an odd substance that is easily duplicated, but has tremendous energy output, making it the perfect power or fuel source. Another is an Ivory coloured metal, that's permeable in it's raw form, making it easy to work with, but harder than most metals that had been on earth, when it's tempered; A name has not been decided for it though.

 

They soon started expanding outwards into space, and have extended their military prowess into the celestials, and created many defensive bases, along with scientific research stations, and resource colonies, and livable hydroponics space colonies. They had many seperate 'nations' as it were, that decided after the discovery of the other colony ship's planets, that they shouldn't stand alone, and united into one 'nation', or planet wide empire called, Pharaz-Gil, meaning Golden Star.

 

Genetics: The Pharaz Empire has done both genetic engineering, and natural evolution, along with some mutation as well. The government of the planet experiments with evolved specimens, and forwards the evolution through non-evolved specimens, also enhancing already evolved specimens as well. Many naturally evolved people have varying capabilities, some with physical capabilities: Speed, Strength; Some have mental, or kinetic capabilities: Such as Pyrokinesis, or other related capabilities such as Telepathy, but that's more rare.

 

Wildlife: The vegetation on Carad-Galadh consists of similar plants to that of earth's, though most trees are about two times larger than earth's, and consist of more unseen bark and leaf colors, such as red, black, or yellow. Many plants in the Jungle are exotic and enormous, some flowers grow to the size of trees, there are quite a few carnivorous plants, even outside of the Tropical region.

 

The only promonent 'new' species, are a race of thin, Semi-Sentient, machine looking creatures called the Myradin, or Myr for short. They look and even act similar to machines, but are found to be animals indeed, their skin consisting of a, 'living metal'. They are quite intelligent, and different types, or species are found in or on different terrains. They have a strange uncanny capability of terraforming any type of land, to that of their suiting. Many of the people on Carad have befriended the Myr, using them to change the land for farming, and getting at valuable resources. The only other new found animals are enormous beasts, mostly bipedal, like the Myr, and have tough skin that has the characteristics of the minerals in the environment around them, thus creating different species. They are dubbed Golems, like in old myths and legends of stories, and are rightfully named so. The planet though, is filled with other life as well, mostly creatures very similar to those of earth, only different depending on their environments, and don't need to be explained, for the moment at least.

 

Galactic Expansion:

CelebIthil: Is the primary moon of Carad, the name means, Silver Moon, for the fact that it's made of solid Ivory Metal, while some of it's mantle is Fiolium. There's a large resource station on it, along with a sizeable military base.

Lŷg-Thond: Meaning snake root, which is the primary research station, located in a distant, yet nearby nebula; There are around five other reseach facilities, but due to them all connecting in purpose with this one, they will not be named.

Annûn Amon: A large colony the, name meaning, Sunset Hill; On an unnamed nearby planet, which has a decently substantial population. Also it contains a large resouce base nearby, mainly used for agriculture.

Amrûn Amon: The name meaning, Sunrise Hill; Is another colony located on an asteroid that orbits Carad. It is also a military base as well, containing a varitably sized shipyard.

Mormirath: Meaning Black Jewel, is an enormous shipyard spacestation that orbits Carad, the primary supplier of Carad's space military.

Pharaz-Carad Ephel: Alarge defense array of MAC guns, or Rail Stations, known as Golden-Red Outer Fence, or Pharaz-Carad Ephel. There's around 22 (more or less) of the massive stations, used to defend Carad from attack. They are in stationary orbit around the planet, and are on constant vigil.

 

Politics: Since their unity, the Pharaz-Gil Empire has made a Republic of sorts. They abide in a dome of Ivory Metal, known as Remhras, or Meshhorn, on CelebIthil. Ten 'Heads' are chosen by the people to represent their needs, whether the person chooses to help those needs or not, is up to him/her. There are six 'Continental Heads', one per nation, two per continent. There's a Head of Resources, Head of Research, and Head of Off World Colonies, along with a Military Representative. The six Continent Heads are elected every six years, the Off World Colonies Head, and Resource Head are elected every eight years, and the Research Head, and Military Representative Head stay on until retirement, or death. There is no president or Official, due to the fact of someone trying to rise to dictatorial power, and the Empire is run well and smoothly by unified choose, and representation.

 

Military & Crime Prevention: There are six branches of military;

Ephel Defense Core: A group of military set apart, meant for defense of the planet through the Rail Stations; Highly Elite and Trained.

Dûn Core: Is an Elite space/ground military group, meant for military insertion, and interplanetary peace keeping. They are evolved, mutated, or genetically enhanced men and women, highly capable, powerful, and though few in number, deadly.

Army: A common military group, ground based, and used for planet to space defense, or stop insertion.

Navy: Very little of the Navy is in space, and most of it is the planet's water forces. The space Navy consists of long vessels, capable of landing on planets' water surfaces, to deploy it's forces.

Air Force: The group meant for air-to-air, air-to-space, space-to-space combat through large fighter craft, are genetically engineered individuals, capable of handling high G-Force, and deadly, unthought menouvers, in air and space.

Hyarmen Offense Core: Are the men and women of the space fleets of th Pharaz-Gil Empire. They are also meant for Galactic exploration, along with a few E.D.C. members to go along as well. They are also excellent in interplanetary peace keeping.

 

The Pharaz-Gil Empire has a Police Force, Special Forces, Insertion Force, and Geno-Force, these are civilian corps or cores, meant for law upholdment. The Insertion Force is for stopping civil uprisings, and the Geno-Forces are evolved, or enhanced civilians who joined the police or Special or Insertion Forces, and were transferred to this group; They are similar to the police in many ways, only different by their capablilities.

 

Suspected criminals are trialed before a civilian jury; High offenses are taken before the Remhras Council itself.

Yeah and thanks for changing it, I'm sorry if i wasn't clear on that aspect. I'll explain how voting will work now so you know my reasons for requesting the change.

 

To explain i'll be using the first five as examples this in no way effects the actual vote that should start on sunday and does not reflect how i'll vote or feel about the Submissions.

 

Basically everyone will vote for the four empires they would like, excluding their own, and rank them 1-4. So if i could vote like this:

1) Maverick 5770

2) Jedi Atomic

3) Dark_Lady

4) Wildjedi

 

and Dark_lady could vote like this:

1) Wildjedi

2) starmark

3) Maverick 5770

4) Jedi atomic

 

I will then turn the votes into points i.e 1=4, 2=3, 3=2, 4=1. And the points to each one would be as follows-

Starmark= 3

Dark_lady= 2

Jedi Atomic= 4

Maverick 5770= 6

Wildjedi = 5

 

So the winners would be and ordered as:

1) Maverick 5770

2) Wildjedi

3) Jedi Atomic

4) Starmark

 

Now as maverick 5770's would be number 1 in this scinario his first choice will get the first choice of continent which is Europe. Wildjedi gets the second choice and as maverick didn't pick North she gets her first one. Jedi Atomic gets the third choice but as his 1st option was North(canada) which has been picked by wild already he gets his second option, South(Brazil). Now as the other three had been taken my Submission would get Asia.

 

I hope that is clear and makes things more understandable to why you needed to change the submissions. In the event of a draw in which both sides want the same place I'll do the only fair thing and flip a coin.

Hey, SM, thought you were keeping suggestions open until the 21st? I'm working on one, but haven't had the time to polish it up or post (as I've been battling it out with Darth RealLife again.) Will try to post something tonight, or at the latest tomorrow.

 

the submission date does close on the 21st i was just explaining the voting system so Mav and JA knew why i had to ask them to change their submissions.

 

If anyone would like to edit or submit an empire they still have the rest of the week to do so, i'll not finish this one early as it's perhaps the most important part of the projest as all the following phases rely on this one being done right.

Empire Name: Ashoka Republic

 

Colony Ship Order: Asia, Europe, South, North

 

Colony World: Nirvana

 

Climate and Terrain: -

The Fifth planet in a system of seven with binary suns, Nirvana is the only planet in the small system with a breathable Nitrogen/Oxygen atmosphere. It has three small moons. Two-thirds of the surface is covered by large polar ice caps, but, due to the gravitational pull of the two suns, there is quite a lot of geo-thermal activity. Around the equator is an ice-free, habitable tundra-like zone punctuated by large inland lakes--some quite acidic due to minerals such as sulphur. Although there are no volcanoes spewing lava, there are geysers, and even ice-geysers in the polar regions. The temperature in the equatorial regions ranges from +10C to –10C, depending on the “season” of the suns.

 

The terrain in the equatorial region is rough and rocky, with some mountainous/hilly outcrops on either side of the single geological fault line that runs along the equator. Plant life includes lichen, fungi, and various types of grasses, though no plants are larger than small shrubs due to the very short growing season, cool temperatures, and the fact that it doesn’t rain often. The lakes are composed of mostly water (from melted ice) but some of them are very acidic due to the minerals pumped up from the inner core by the geysers.

 

There are some natural caves, created by erosion and also by bacteria that ‘eat’ the minerals of the rocky outer crust of the planet. The caves are heated by underground thermal streams and steam vents.

 

History of colonization: -

When the colonists first arrived, they initially settled on the surface, but upon discovery of the warm, geo-thermally heated caves, the people decided to move underground. Here they harnessed the geo-thermal vents to produce power, enabling them to mine minerals and metals necessary to expand their colony. They also discovered a bio-luminescent bacteria (which they call Glo) in these underground caverns. They were able to ‘domesticate’ the Glo and use it as a light source, enabling them to grow some grain crops underground. They have also been able to extract a plasma-type material from these Glo bacteria, which they have been able to refine into a fuel which they can use for ion propulsion drives. The mines on Nirvana now mine exclusively to feed the Glo bacterium to produce more plasma fuel.

 

They have mining facilties on the three moons of Nirvana, as well as beginning to set up orbital space platforms around three of the six planets in the Nirvanic system.

 

Genetics: -

Due to the low light conditions in the certain sections of the caves (such as the mining sectors) some colonists have been genetically enhanced to have retinas that absorb more light, enabling them to see better in the dark. This has resulted in a two-tiered caste system, with the working-class people being known as Grafters, and the upper-class people (who live closer to the surface) being known as Patricians (although to the Grafters, they are known as Surfs, for being surface-dwellers.) Surfs make most of the political decisions and perform ‘thinking’ type jobs (teacher, lawyers, doctors, scientists, etc.), while Grafters do most of the manual labour work (mining, engineering, service, etc.).

 

Wildlife: -

A variety of fish, amphibians, and some small reptiles live on Nirvana. The largest of these is called a Brown-Spotted Howling Groat (because of their colour and the strange noise they make) and is a type of amphibian similar in appearance to a toad, but with soft fur like a seal and about the same size as small pony. The Black-Spotted Howling Groat is smaller, about the size of a large Labrador retriever dog, but not as common as its brown-spotted cousin. They have poisonous saliva, are omnivores, and are the top land predator (preying upon lesser amphibs, fish, and reptiles), but Nirvanans discovered they taste like chicken. Their fur is quite luxurious (especially the Black-spotted variety) and is made into high-fashion clothing. Years of over-hunting have seen the Groat numbers decline, and a conservation movement has started to regenerate the wild population. Some Nirvanans have attempted to domesticate Groats, but so far their efforts have not been all that successful.

 

Many of the inland lakes are heated by the underground hot springs, and so aquatic life is abundant. Native fish species are varied, depending on which inland lake they are found in. Crill (tiny shrimp-like creatures) are also in abundance, as are various types of mollusks, the most popular among the Nirvanans being the Panda Clam (called such as it is large (30 to 40cms avg. diameter) and its outer shell has two dark marks that look like eyes). The largest fish, found in only the largest lake (Lake Beria) is a type of ray which the Nirvanans call a Viceroy, as it has brightly coloured ‘wings’ and can leap out of the water and soar for a few metres at a time.

 

Galactic Expansion: -

There are three moons around Nirvana—Azora, Tiret, and Zuma. The first moon, Azora, is composed of mostly aluminium, and so a mining colony called A-1 was established using the parts of the colony ship. Other mining facilities were soon established on the other two moons, T-1 and Z-1, when it was discovered that they too were rich in certain metals. Currently, there are seven such mining facilities on Azora (A1 through 7), four on Tiret (Tee 1 through 4), and three on Zuma (Zed 1 through 3).

 

As Nirvana is the only habitable planet in the system, construction has begun on orbiting space platforms around three of the other six planets with plans to start up Glo-plasma producing facilites.

 

There are three major underground cities, each linked to each other by ion-drive subway systems, and several ‘villages’ surrounding them. There are some surface roads, but most of them lead to space-launching platforms that shuttle back and forth between the moons.

 

Politics: -

Nirvana is governed by a small group of elected officials which form a governing council known as the Darm. Darmic officials are elected once every six years, but there are no term limitations. Over time, the Surfs became mostly in charge of the government, although there is at least one Grafter on the Darm to appease the working population. The Darm elects a Prefect, whose job it is to ensure that the Darm runs smoothly and efficiently. A Prefect is elected at the start of each Darmic session. Again, there are no term limitations, so a well-liked Prefect can be a Prefect for a long while.

 

There are local councils with locally elected officials that take care of the day-to-day issues. These local councils report to their respective Darmic representative for their area.

 

All mining companies are taxed, monitored, and regulated by the Darm. This has had the effect of creating an illegal GP (Glo-Plasma) black market.

 

Military & Crime Prevention: -

Nirvanans are very proud of their military, and it is a requirement for all young people to spend at least two years in some type of governmental service, whether it be Darmic or local authority. The Nirvanan military is made up of mostly Grafters as the basic soldiers with Surf’s as commanding officers.

 

Nirvanans are raised to respect authority and accept their status from a very early age. Civil disobedience is rare, although there are still some criminal elements about (mostly poaching and smuggling GP fuel). Penalties for crimes against the state are severe, and capital crimes are normally punishable by death. Prisons are located on the surface.

Why yes Dark_Lady, I do read Lord of the Rings! Yes the Elvin language is excellent for such things; saddly I can't think of any of Tolkiens' books that translates the Elvin language entirely, if there is a book like that? I had to use the Appendix in the back of Return of the King to get some of the words you see up there.

Well it's saturday and all the submissions are in so now we can get on with the voting and find out what four Empires are going to make up our worlds. Pleases re-read the Submissions so you make a more informed decission and incase someone has edited their submission (like i did this morning). Well it’s Thursday and time for the results of the Empire Contest (I’m aware that I’m a day late, but I was laid up in bed all day). The Empires are…

 

Olympia Federation: The Colonists originate from Europe.

 

Ashoka Republic: The Colonists originate from East Asia.

 

Republic of Haven: The Colonists originate from North America.

 

Pharaz-Gil: The Colonists originate from South America.

 

So we have the basics of all our empires but before we do go into more detail with these empires (like military structures, population growth, Culture and economy). We should work out the relationships, agreements and treaties between our Empires.

 

So I’ll open up the discussion by putting forward two of my ideas. The first is that about 100 years before the RP that there was a War between at least two of the empire. I think this will give us more of a reason for the empires to have Space Navies and would give us some political prejudice between them which should give more depth to the social commentary of our worlds.

 

The second is that in a neutral part of space there is a planet or space station that the empire’s go to and maintain Talks, Either Representatives meet their like one a year or they are like political figures assigned to serve a term there.

 

So what do you think of these ideas and what ideas do you have?
