Aya blinked a few times, then cocked her head to the left, and then to the right, stretching her neck. Then she rolled her shoulders.

"Wow," she said with genuine awe. "I feel...." She rolled her neck around in a slow circle. "Wow," she repeated. She turned around to face Tellis and grinned. "I feel great. I didn't think my neck was that sore, but...." She smiled broadly. "Wow," was all she could think to say. "Whatever you've done,Tellis, thank you! You've definitely got 'magic' in those fingers of yours."

She looked over at Carwyn, who was just mopping up the last bit of gravy with his last potato. She eyed his empty plate, and her own stomach growled.

"So, was it tasty?" she asked him, grinning as he greedily stuffed the potato into his mouth. "Or were you too hungry to care?"

"Bit o' bouff, ackshully," Carwyn replied, his mouth still full of potato. His muffled response elicited a stern glance from Tellis and a giggle from Aya. He swallowed. "Oops."

Tellis tut-tutted at him. "I swear, children these days," she said teasingly as she gathered up Carwyn's tray. "Now that you've been properly fed and watered, I suggest you get some rest and let that injury of yours heal up properly."

Carwyn sighed. "Yes ma'am. It's not as if I have a choice in the matter. Thanks."

Tellis smiled. "Good. You're learning." Gesturing to Aya, she moved to the door. "I don't know about you, but I'm famished. Shall we go grab something to eat and leave our dear ranger friend to recuperate?"

Aya nodded, moving to follow Tellis. She flicked her head back in Carwyn's direction as she exited. "Sleep well, Carwyn."

Carwyn waved at her from the bed. "You too, Aya. Thanks for everything."

Kyo sat back in his chair, slowly becoming acustomed to the woman's random fits of jovial nonsense. He now studied her with a calculating eye as her bouncing slowed to a stop, quickly tallying the chances he had of getting anything useful and solid out of her. They weren't good.

"I don't understand." he said once she had finally fallen silent. She cackled again.

"You are not meant to!" she said dramatically, "The prophecy forbids it!"

"What is this prophecy?" he asked, but she tutted disprovingly at him.

"Not yet, not now, not this moment! The appointed time has not come! Your other half has not yet arrived!"

Other half...? the swordsman thought to himself. What in the world...

"Can you at least tell me what it means?" he asked, motioning to the peice of the scroll she had in her hand. He frowned as he thought of all the damage that had already been done to it. She glared at him.

"You cannot read this??"

"It is the Old Language, I am assuming?" he asked, "I can speak it...I cannot read it."

"Hmmmmmmmmmm...." she mused, "Hm hm hmmmmmmmm...This is interesting...interesting..."

Bounding into another room for a moment, she reappeared with a lit candle, quill, and ink jar. Setting them on the table, she hopped atop the surface, and looked down at the paper. She held it close - brushing up against her nose - and she held it an armslength away. Kyo sat silently, studying. It was in her crouched position that the swordsman really saw what she resembled - a frog.

"Yes..." she murmured after a very long while. "I can translate this."

Now he sat bolt upright, excitement lighting his eyes. "You can? Will you?"

"Of course I will!" she snapped back, "Now sit and be quiet! I must think."

Aya followed Tellis out to the common room. “There’s Akira,” she said, pointing out the young warrior from the crowd. Aya grinned. “And it looks like he still has my ale!” She turned to Tellis. “Erm... you’re not going to tell me I shouldn't drink it, are you? That it’ll be bad for my health or something, are you?”

Tellis chortled lightly. “No. In fact, the house ale is quite nice. I might have one myself with my meal.”

Aya walked up behind Akira, who was sitting next to Istergard telling him the story of what had happened in the skirmish with the mysterious ninjas at the dock.

"I didn't see the ‘mancers bodies,” Istergard was saying. “But where are they?"

Aya tapped Akira lightly on the shoulder to let him know that she was there, then smiled at him. “That’s a good question,” she said to Istergard. “I was wondering the same thing.” She motioned for Tellis to sit down in one of the chairs, while she sat in the one next to Akira where the extra glass of ale had been placed. "Thanks for the drink," she said quietly to Akira. "I could really use one after all that's happened today.

“You don’t think Toa and Hoshiko got lost or something, do you?" Aya asked the two men. "I mean, they’re ‘mancers, but from what I’ve seen, no 'mancers are all that great when it comes to navigation. They’re too busy with all that..." She waved her hand in the air. "...'magic' stuff.”

She took a sip of her ale, then glanced at Tellis. “Speaking of magic… this is Tellis,” she introduced her new friend. “Tellis, this is Akira, and this is Istergard. They’ve been travelling with the caravan since we left from Akebono. Tellis is a doctor’s assistant,” she explained to the men. Aya rubbed her neck, then grinned. “And I can personally vouch for her wonderful healing touch. Akira, if you've got any injuries from the frackus at the docks, she'd be the one to tend them."

Then Toa took a glance at his surroundings and asked "You wouldn't happen to know your way through this maze, would you?"

Well, I know the way back to the inn I'm staying at," Hoshiko replied. "Other than that, I don't know anything about this place, since I've never been here before." She looked around. "I wonder where the rest of the party went." She didn't know why she was wondering, she just was. Normally, when she went traveling, she tried to keep to herself as much as possible, but there seemed to definitely be something different about these particular people.

Tellis smiled at each of the men in turn as Aya introduced them. "I would not mind tending to your injuries at all," she said in her quiet, sensual voice, "provided I am able to eat some dinner." She was famished.

As if on cue, Renn showed up next to the table. "Well folks, are we ready to order?" he asked jovially. He turned to Tellis first. "The usual for you, Tel?"

She nodded. "Though I am feeling a bit hungrier tonight, so make it a double order, please."

"You're becoming a regular glutton," Renn said jokingly, then looked at Aya. "And for you, m'dear?"

Aya smiled sweetly at Renn. "I'll have what Carwyn had. Roasted chicken, potatoes and broccoli, please."

"Surely," Renn replied. "And for our gentlemen?" he asked, turning to Akira and Istergard.

"Oh, hi Aya!" He said as she surprised him, "You're welcome."

"As for Toa and Hosh? I think their powers contrast each other, so i think they could be fine. Anyways, last i heard, i think they where on the other inn," Akira replied, taking another sip of his ale.

"Well, it's nice to meet you Ms. Tellis," He said, hearing then what Aya had to say about her, "Well, while i don't think i have any injury, i thank the recommendation and will see you if i need any assistance."

"And for our gentlemen?" he asked, turning to Akira and Istergard.

"Well, i'll have the raw beef with the boiled potatoes and carrot with the bowl of rice and a glass of water with a little gas please."

"Hi there!" Istergard said when presented to Ms Tellis.

Then he turned to Akira listening to what his sugestion of where they might be.

"It's logical..." he whispered "They obviously wouldn't get lost."

Istergard had covered himself interely in his cloak to hide the armourand to keep himself warm since the fire was out.

"And for our gentlemen?" he asked, turning to Akira and Istergard.

"Raw meat and a bowl of rice please" he asked nicely turning a friendly face to her.

Bora Cho woke up out of his meditation , to his suprise the Inn was filled with live at this late hour . Istengard and Akira where talking at a table with a nice ale at their hands .

Bora CHo could feel his dry throat , a drink would be nice indeed .

Using his meditation focus he floated to the table where the others where joined by Aya and a good looking lady .

Just before the Inn keeper would turn and walk away to the kitchen , Bora Cho asked : " Could you get me a nice bottle of Vergian Wine , from an old year please ? "

Renn looked a bit shocked as Bora Cho was in mid-air and forks where flying around his head like little flies .

"I'll take a chair myself , thank you . Can't keep this up all night you know ." : he said jokingly to the puzzled Renn .

Landing softly on the floor , Bora Cho took a chair and took a place at the table .

" So how is Carwyn ? " : he asked at Aya .

"Well, I'm sure they've probably found some place to sleep for the night, so I might as well follow you back to your inn. I still have enough in my pocket for a night. Assuming you'd like the company." He said, a smile still on his face. While he wanted to be home, it was fun traveling and meeting new people. Especially if they were not as social as others. Then it was just fun to try to get them to talk.

"He had a really nasty cut, but Doc Waverley sewed him up," Aya replied to Bora-Cho. She took a sip of her ale. "And Tellis here helped him relax so he won't tear the stitches out." She grinned and gave the monk a sly wink. "So, I think he'll be all right."

She took a long drink of her ale. "I've forgotten how good Renn's ale is. Been a long time since I've had any." She looked at her glass, now half empty. "And I can't believe how thirsty I am!" Her eyes flicked over to Tellis. "Must have been that shoulder massage you gave me."

She nodded over at Renn and lifted her glass, a signal to him that she wanted another glass of ale to drink when her meal arrived.

"So," she said to Akira, "you think that Toa and Hoshiko are staying at the Wandering Wind across the street?" She snorted. "Hope they don't run into Wolf. That's his territory. But," she added, "I suppose I shouldn't worry. After all, they are 'mancers. Wolf's nasty, but not stupid. He'll probably avoid them. He hates magic."

She frowned slightly. "Speaking of magic, you think Kyo's okay?" she asked Akira. "I feel sort of bad about leaving him there with that old woman, but I thought he would've been back by now. Sure hope nothing's happened to him."

"Must have been that shoulder massage you gave me."

Shoulder massage? Akira thought. He thought about a little while back and then remembered that when Aya was attacked and saved by Jonas and Katsuro, she seemed to have something on her neck. Probably a rope. She was okay now, though.

"Wolf? Who's Wolf? And what's this territory thing? If you don't mind me asking," He said, looking quite curious.

"Kyo? Oh, i'm sure he's fine. He's tougher than he looks, and he looks tough," Akira replied, finishing his drink, "However, i don't think even he can resist that lady's..."charm", so to speak."

Kyo waited, sitting quietly and unmovingly in the chair. Saying that he was getting impatient would be an understatement.

Finally, the woman sat up straight, squinting her eyes as she held the sheet towards the light. She mumbled to her self for several minutes, the words too muffled and mushed for him to comprehend. After a moment, though, she sighed and lowered the parchment again, spinning to face him.

"The deed is done." she said, and offered the paper to him. He shot forward, greedily snatching the paper from her fingers and flipping to the backside, his eyes darting quickly across the messy script scrawled there.

"The impudence of youth these days!" the woman scoffed indignantly. "Can't even remember ye manners!"

Kyo ignored her. Instead, he continued to read.

From Heaven and Earth life spewed,

Spirits joining together,

They met together and fused,

Creating a child of ether.

Now her life came to pass,

And soon her death followed.

Now she had drawn the breath that was her last,

And her magic now has fallowed.

Now her spirit lives on

In two new souls

It is these lives that soon will dawn

And continue her toll.

The script broke off there, continuing in a new column as the subject changed.

The more there is the less you see.

Tellis listened to the conversation the three caravan travelers were having. It appeared as if they were waiting to hear from more of their comrades and that these friends happened to be magic users. They would be staying at the Wavering Wind, which was convenient. Tellis ran her tongue over her lower lip.

Just then, Renn reappeared at the table, a tray of food in hand. He placed everyone's orders in front of them: raw meat and rice for Istergard; beef, potatoes, carrots, rice and water for Akira; chicken, potatoes, brocolli and another flagon of ale for Aya; and four slices of bread and a glass of water for Tellis. "Good eating, everyone," Renn said, then trotted back to the bar.

Aya looked at Tellis' plate. Surely Renn had made a mistake. She looked at the healer. "Is that all you're having?"

"Yes it is," Tellis replied, taking a sip from her glass. "Please pass the salt."

Xan heard her words, for the fact that he was right next to her, and that being partially blind heightened his hearing.

Xan raised an unseen eyebrow as Takara seemed distraught about the departure of her father into the wilderness, 'on this day of all days', what was this day? Xan wondered.

"What is 'this day'?" He asked curiously. "If he's so capable, then why do you worry about which day he conveyed the information to you?"

For a short time, Takara said nothing. Then, she shook her head sadly. "All my life I've taken my father's presence at least somewhat for granted. Even when Katsuro and I went off without him, we saw one another at least twice a month. It's just... it will be different."

As she watched, her father and her son laughed at a joke they both knew and had both told too many times to count.

"The timing," Takara said softly. Tears came to her eyes. "It's..." Her voice trailed off and she released a shaky sigh. "It's my birthday."

Suddenly, her expression turned to steel and she brushed her tears away. In a low voice, edged with anger and hurt she murmured, "He could have waited a month. Or two! It isn't as if it would be any less difficult, but... to try and offset his leaving, the only thing aside from my son I thought I could count on... with a birthday present?"

Her eyes narrowed ever so slightly and her tone of voice got just slightly more dangerous. "Careless and insensitive old fool."

Without warning, her eyes again welled up with tears and she turned, hurrying away toward the room she and Katsuro were to share.

Xan was shocked at the sudden happenings, he heard her act as if in her past her father didn't matter, and then she revealed it was her birthday. Xan was shocked at this, and just about jumped out of his chair to go get something, but he held back as he saw Takara shed a tear.

He was astounded at her strange and sudden mood changes, her sudden anger, then her last venomous comment, then at last her sudden departure in a fit of tears.

Xan was too shocked for words, it had all happened in an amount of time he couldn't calculate properly. He was wide eyed, and stiff for a moment, then his normal composure returned, only he carried himself with more sorrow.

Xan grunted and got up, he sighed with empathy as he walked after Takara. He hoped no one had heard or seen what happened, it was probably embarrassing for Takara, and since he was the one talking to her, they'd probably blame him for the outburst.

But he payed little attention to the things going on around him as he followed. He approached the door and paused, he hadn't done something like this since....

Xan rapped his gauntleted knuckles on the door, and opened the door just a crack. Xan peered into the room, peaking around the door.

"Takara, are you alright?" He asked kindly, and softly. 'Duh, she wasn't alright, she'd just ran off crying...but it's always good to make sure,' he thought to himself as he came into the room and shut the door quietly behind him.

"I'll be right here if you wish to talk," he said softly as he stood like a sentry, infront of the door, just incase anyone attempted to come in, he would be there to caution them away. It's all he knew to do at the moment, until Takara wished to talk, then he'd talk to her, and try as best he could to comfort her.

Akira looked on curiously, with his eye stunned. He remembered what Renn said earlier, about Tellis being gluttony, and this was all she was having?

Four lousy slices of bread and a glass of water?

Anyways, Akira, being the polite man he is, grabbed the salter and gave it to Tellis as she thanked him. He grabbed his fork and knife and stuck his fork on the beef, using the knife to cut through it and brought the fork to his mouth, biting it.

OOC: I don't think you need to describe how to eat Jason.

Istergard thanked Tellis for the food and started eating with a ferocious apetite, drinking small sips of his ale along the way.

"Tellis, this food his great." he complimented, not eaven caring to know if she was the cook or not. Then stergard saw her plate and thought she would starve, poor thing.

Oh well, too bad he thought and restarted eating with the same speed as before.

"Kyo? Oh, i'm sure he's fine. He's tougher than he looks, and he looks tough," Akira replied, finishing his drink. "However, I don't think even he can resist that lady's..."charm", so to speak.
"And who's Wolf?" Akira asked. "And what's this territory thing if you don't mind me asking?" he said, looking quite curious.

Aya gave Akira an apprehensive look. "Believe me, you really don't want to know Wolf," she said, as she cut her chicken into bite-sized pieces. "He's probably the nastiest, rudest, and most evil and arrogant person you'd ever meet. Thinks he 'owns' the marketplace. And I wouldn't put it past him to be responsible for this territory dispute. He's greedy and sneaky in that sort of way."

She heard a chair suddenly squeal across the floor, and when she looked over her shoulder she saw Takara scurrying away, obviously upset about something. Aya's first instinct was to go and see if Takara was alright, but when Xan rose to follow her, she decided to stay put. She had noticed that the pair had become quite close during the journey and the old adage of "three is a crowd" suddenly sprang to mind.

"Anyway, I'd rather not talk about Wolf," Aya continued, turning back to Akira. "Especially while I'm eating."

Her comment caused a chuckle from Renn, who was just serving her and Akira refills on their ales. "Here, here," he said jovially. He gave Akira a friendly pat on the shoulder. "You'll meet the 'Wolf' soon enough, lad. That is, if you're hanging around for the market tomorrow?" Renn sat Aya's ale down in front of her. "You are planning on setting up your usual stall, aren't you, Aya?"

Aya nodded, as she was chewing.

Renn's eyes narrowed. "Then let me remind you that that's number two," he said, pointing to her ale.

Aya swallowed. "I know."

"And I know that you can't handle too much drink," Renn said in a fatherly manner.

Aya grinned. "I know that, too. But it's not like I'm just drinking. I'm eating, too." She looked over at Tellis' plate of bread. "More than some others are."

She frowned slightly, then looked at Akira. "Speaking of 'others', have you seen Jonas?" She rubbed her neck and adjusted the cord that held her coin charm necklace, as it was irritating the raw spot around her neck from where the ninja's rope had had its stranglehold. "I wanted to thank him for saving my life at the docks. Still don't know what those bandits wanted from me," she added. "I mean, I carry a lot of different goods, but 'locks and keys' aren't a real big selling item."

Tellis' eyes flicked over to the coin on the necklace that Aya shifted around her neck. Speaking quietly, she said, "You should probably remove that from your neck. At least until the bruising has cleared up. Otherwise it will continue to irritate."

Aya looked at Tellis and nodded. "You're right," she replied and moved to take off the necklace.

"May I see it?" Tellis asked quickly.

Aya stopped just as she was about to put it away in a pocket. "Uh, sure," she said, handing it to the healer. "It's nothing really special, just a silly good luck charm."

Tellis murmured something inaudible as her keen eyes studied the coin. She turned it over, ran her fingers over the surface and moved her hand up and down, testing its weight.

Aya observed her between bites of chicken. "You seem pretty interested in that, Tellis," she said.

Tellis said nothing for a few moments, almost as if she had not heard Aya. Then she looked up and a small smile creased her lips. "Oh, I must confess," she said, a small twinkle in her eye. "I've always had a weakness for coins and trinkets and the like." She held coin back out to Aya. "I've never seen one like yours before."

"Really?" Aya asked, taking her coin back and looking at it curiously before pocketing it.

"Yes, the design is strange to me," Tellis replied, biting into her last piece of bread. "It's a silly little hobby of mine and I've acquired quite a few, but have never seen one like yours."

"Well, perhaps I can find another one for you tomorrow at market day?" Aya said cheerily. "Will you be around?"

Tellis nodded. "It gets quite busy in town, making it difficult to travel back to our clinic, so Dr. Waverly and I will probably still be in the area."

"Great, I'll be sure to keep an eye out for you." Aya rubbed her neck again, then took another swig out of her flagon of ale.

"Do your neck and shoulders still hurt?" Tellis asked.

Aya shook her head. "Not anymore, no."

The small smile appeared on Tellis' lips again. "I don't believe you." She raised her hand at Renn, indicating she wanted his attention. To Aya she continued, "Fortunately, I know that Renn's ale serves as a good relaxant. I might even need one for myself."

Aya laughed as she lifted her flagon in salute. "Well, if the doctor says so."

Kyo fingered the paper, his eyes alight with excitement. "This..."

"Yes, boy. This will lead you to the blade you seek." the woman said, smiling another of her mysterious smiles. "But now, I will need your Key."

"My key?" he looked at her, his eyes questioning. The leader of the bandits had mentioned a key...was his key one in the same as hers?

"Yes, yes! The Key, the Key!" she shouted, bouncing into another room. He heard several things crash, the squal of another cat, and watched as a few things bounced off the wall near the door and came clunking and rolling into this room. After a moment, she returned with two items in her hands.

The first was cylindrical. It seemed to almost be a scroll, but upon closer inspection, was actually a hollow container made of carved stone. Sections of colored stone were set around the center of the cylinder, letters and runes written on them. She tossed the container at him, and the swordsman found that the bands spun around the center, allowing him to move certain letters into certain places.

"Even if ye guessed the password," the woman said, now holding up the object in her other hand, "You can't open it without both Keys."

Kyo's eyes widened. He didn't have the second Key..but he definately knew where to find it because, there in her hand, was what appeared to be a perfect replica of Aya's coin.

"Now where is yours, boy? You should have it by now." the woman demanded.

"I don't have it." he said, "But I know who does."

(I know Velrogh XD)

Akira was curious on how to who was this Wolf. It was probably not a real wolf of course. But something just ticked him..

"Uh? Oh, Jonas' resting. Making the most of his retirement, i guess," He said, eating another piece of beef and a fork full of rice. He noticed on how Tellis was interested on Aya's coin necklace. He got to see a better look on it, and saw that the inscriptions on it where equal to Kyo's paper writing.

"Aya, has Kyo asked you about how your coin as the same writing as his, well, scroll?"

Aya's brow raised. "You know about his scroll?" she said to Akira in a low tone. She eyed him curiously, then shook of her look of surprise. "Well, Kyo said that some of the writing was the same." She looked at the coin. "But it's probably just a reign mark or something... you know, a commemmorative coin that says something like 'minted in the reign of old King So-and-so the Brave' or 'Queen What's-her-name the Wise' or something like that." She shrugged. "Might be nice to find out what it actually says, but I'm sure it's nothing that important." She picked up the coin and peeked through the hole in the middle, winking at Akira. "But it's pretty, and I like it." Despite Tellis' advice, she put the coin back around her neck and tucked it back in her shirt. "My father gave it to me," she added. "So, it has more sentimental value to me than anything."

A few moments later, Kyo burst into the inn. Ignoring the curious looks and glares of annoyance, he scanned the room and quickly located Aya. Moving quickly over to the table she sat at with a few others, he didn't bother himself with pleasentries.

"Aya." he said, looking at her as he placed his palms on the table, leaning forward, "I need to talk to you."

Aya's face showed her surprise at Kyo's brash and abrupt appearance. She eyed him over dubiously, then looked at Tellis to her right, and then Akira to her left, and then Istergard across from her, then stared at Kyo.

"Hi. Yes, this is Tellis, and yes, we were worried about you, and yes, Carwyn is going to be just fine, and yes, we are enjoying our meal, thanks for asking," she answered questions she thought he should have been polite enough to ask.

She said nothing for a moment, waiting for him to speak, but when he didn't she raised her brows.

"O-kaaay," she said slowly. "I'm listening."
