Kai had caught flask without even thinking about it, he looked a bit confused, honestly. He watched the ranger approach and pick Aya up, glancing at Tellis as he apeared next to him. "Mop Kai up?" He looked down at himself, muttering softly under his breath. "You are pretty badly injured Kai," the second int hat calmer voice. "Alright, Kai will come." Kai nodded and followed after them.

"Kai thinks that the odd black clouds are a bit melodramatic. Kai does not think he is injured enough to feint. No, Kai does not." He closed his eyes a moment, and seemed to will himself onward. "You may weaken yourself by allowing others to help you Kai, perhaps you should just go find a blanket to wrap up in, that would stop most of the bleeding." Kai whispered to himself, frowning.

"Kai does not want to hear from you right now, Kai as defeated the villian." Kai nodded to this, and promptly as he took a step his knee gave out, and his body along with it, succumbing to his wounds, the multiple punches to his head had caused a fairly bad concusion, combined with all the blood loss he just couldn't will himself any farther, but he had made it nearly to the inn.

Kyo stepped from the crowd and caught Kai's arm as he fell over, helping him to stay standing.

"Oh no you don't." he grunted, heaving him to his feet again as he helped the fighter limp over to the inn. The puzzle was now out of sight, though the leather strap that had - until quite recently - held Aya's coin was now bound around his wrist and bracer. He glanced over at the young merchant, unconcious in Carwyn's arms.

"She is still breathing, isn't she?" he asked. Aya's skin had gone white as bone.

Carwyn shifted Aya in his arms, cradling the young merchant's face closer to his ear. Her breathing was quiet, but strong and her chest rose and fell rhythmically. She'd simply just fainted at the sight of Kai's bloodied body.

"She'll be all right," Carwyn told Kyo as they made their way to the Smoking Dragon. "She wasn't kidding when she said she was squeamish at the sight of blood."

Kyo nodded in assent as he and Tellis helped Kai limp into the inn, where they were met by a concerned Renn.

As soon as he reached the flourist, he was greeted by Alve.

"Greetings winner of the bet," She congratulated him.

"Thanks," Akira said, handing her the coins as she handed him the flares. He immmediately started leaving, until interrupted.

"I knew i was going to lose."

"What?" He asked her.

"I knew you where going to win and i lose," Alve told him, "I was just testing your faith. While your amulet is interesting..," She told him as she was cut off, "Don't lift it."

"Of course. But anyways, the flares are yours, and i'm pretty sure the girl needs them," She told him with a grin.

Akira then left, curious...

"Backing out? Never. And I'll also make you a deal: If I win, you have to pay for lunch. A big one too since I haven't had breakfast yet. If you win, then I'll pay for something you want here from the market or anywhere else if we continue to travel together. I've gotta warn you though, you're going to get a real burn from what I'm going to deliver." Toa said with a playful smirk, a fire now raging in his eyes.

"You mean we're going to do a fireworks display before lunch?" Hoshiko asked, somewhat confused. "Well, if we do, then it's a bet. And if we don't, I'll buy you dinner." Now this was definitely a challenge she was looking forward to. "And I assure you, you're the one who's about to be blown away," she finished, matching Toa's smirk. The wind picked up around her for a moment, tossing her hair around her face, and electricity flashed briefly in her eyes as she winked at him.

Kyo nodded in assent as he and Tellis helped Kai limp into the inn, where they were met by a concerned Renn.

Renn frowned and shook his head as he looked at Aya, limp and unconscious in Carwyn’s arms. “Fainted, did she? Well, just lay her down over there on the couch,” he told Carwyn, pointing in the direction of the main room of the inn. “And put some pillows under her feet,” he added. “That seems to make folk come around quicker.”

He then turned his attention to Tellis, who with Kyo’s help, was supporting the bloodied and beaten Kai. Renn pulled at his chin. “Looks like you got yourself in a right mess,” he said to Kai. He snapped his fingers, summoning one of his staff. “Get a pallet made up,” he ordered, then patted the man on the back and shooed him away.

“Sorry, lad,” he said quietly to Kai, “but blood’s kinda hard to clean from upholstery. You understand, right?”

Without waiting for a response, Renn called out to his employee, “And tell Cook to bring out some food, will ‘ya?!” He eyed the thin and gangly Kai. “This lad’s naught but skin and bones as it is!”

He patted Tellis on the shoulder. “You just tell me what you need and I’ll provide,” he told her. “Reward enough to see Wolf put in his place.” And with that he turned to the rest of the people in the inn. “Drinks are on the house!”

OoC: Just going to speed things up a little.

IC: After watching the fight (Which lasted past lunch, leaving Toa starving) glanced at Hoshiko and asked "Can you take the heat?" Not a moment after, a giant dragon made of a pure, white flame came soaring over the square, an earth-shaking roar erupting from its maw as a challenge. Looking at Toa, you would have seen a Pyromacer with a white flame in his eye, a crazed look on his face, and the patterns of his robes glowing.

Kyo and Tellis guided Kai to sit down at the place that was 'blood safe', and then the warrior backed off to allow the healer room to do her work. He glanced around the room - mostly empty, thanks to the day's activities - his eyes looking from Carwyn to Renn to Aya to Tellis and to Kai, each one sporting either a worried, oblivious, or dutiful expression. Carwyn had grown quite close to the young merchant over the past few days, and the worry for her was plain on his face, even though he knew that she would be fine. Tellis was calculating, calm as always as she administered to Kai, who seemed to not even really notice where he was. Then Renn watched all four of them, shaking his head slightly, his brow furrowed as he seemed to worry for the younger adults in general.

Caring, proximity, familiarness...this wasn't a place for him.

Slipping silently and unnoticed back out into the street, he returned to the square and to the ring, the crowds having filtered away by now. The wagon that Aya had previously used as a stall now sat empty and dejected, its wares sold, its horse and owner gone.

Where had Akira taken Bob??

Kyo glanced around and caught sight of the pony, tethered not too far away. Moving over to the horse, he untied the lead and began to return to the inn.

"Absolutely," Hoshiko replied, her eyes half-closing in concentration, then flashing a bright blue-white. As the fire dragon roared in challenge, a wraithlike shape formed in midair, swirling and coalescing into a translucent wind dragon. The dragon hissed and drew its head back almost as if in disdain of the other's challenge. Hoshiko stood across the square from Toa, her head tilted back slightly, and her glowing eyes narrowed. Bolts of energy crackled in her hands and occasionally went rippling across her body or through her flying white hair.

The Fire Dragon roared again and barreled recklessly towards the wind dragon, intent on using its own body as a cannonball while spewing out a stream of fire at it as well. It's skull had three spikes sprouting from it, along with two small tusks at each side of its mouth. It had long spikes trailing down its back also and had blood red eyes. Well, flame eyes to be more specific.

Tellis knelt down next to Kai and began tending to his wounds. She pulled off what was left of his shirt and grimaced. Using a bowl of water and a sponge provided by one of Renn's helpers, she cleansed his injuries thoroughly. Another helper appeared with her medical kit and she set about making poultices for his various cuts and bruises. "You're certainly looking worse for the wear," she commented quietly as she worked.

Kai stared at her with his one eye, but said nothing at first.

Across the room, Carwyn placed Aya gently on the couch, then put a pillow under her feet. It had the desired effect, as the blood flowed back to her upper half, her cheeks again taking on their rosy quality. Carwyn watched her carefully, waiting for her to open her eyes when a loud roar came from outside, causing him to whip his head around in its direction. Striding to the window, he peered outside and let out a little gasp when he saw a giant dragon made of white fire dancing in the sky. Toa must be out there somewhere, he thought to himself. Aya did say something about fireworks too... Turning back to the young merchant, he was glad to see her eyes flutter, then blink as she came to.

Moving to her side, he grinned and said, "Good morning, Sleeping Beauty."

She squinted at him, still a little disconcerted.

Takara had returned to her hotel room to gather a few things from her pack that would help in tending to Xan's injuries. As she hurried back, bandages and cleaning fluids in her hands, she very nearly ran over Dr. Waverly. Smiling kindly, he held out a hand to stop her.

"Now, now, there young lady," he scolded. "You seem to be in a powerful hurry to get somewhere... with bandages?"

"Xan is..." Takara began breathlessly. Then, she forced herself to slow down. "My friend is injured. I need to get to him."

Dr. Waverly smiled and nodded, holding up a small case in which he held any medical supplies he might need on an immediate basis. "I'll come with you to help out," he said. Instantly, the look of concern for Xan on Takara's face was replaced with near-panic.

"I... oh, no, no," she protested. "You're... doctor, not no, need... I, no..."

Smiling slightly at her inability to structure a proper sentence, Dr. Waverly suggested, "You've perhaps had more than a few bad experiences with doctors? Well, not to worry, my dear. We'll have your friend Xan up and about in no time."

Takara looked ready to protest again, but instead she found herself chasing after the doctor as he made his way toward where the boxing ring had been set up. Almost all the way back, Takara did what she could to get at least a single sentence out straight, but her failure was complete... until a puzzled look flashed through her eyes.

"How did you know where to go?" she wondered. Dr. Waverly paused long enough to smile back at her.

"There's only a few ways people get hurt in this area," he answered. "And while we haven't had a boxing match in a while, I thought it safe to assume your friend was one of the two. Besides... I've been watching."

Takara's expression darkened. "Watching?" she echoed. "You've been watching me?"

"Eh..." the doctor mumbled, as if refusing to answer. He hurried forward to Xan's side and Takara positioned herself across from him. Just as he was about to begin tending to Xan, Takara caught his wrist firmly.

"Beware what you do," she growled softly. "If you even begin to cause more damage, you'll be dead before you know what hit you... so you should know now it'll be this..." she tapped the hilt of her knife. Dr. Waverly nodded.

"Of course, dear," he said absently, his attention now fully devoted to Xan.

Xan opened his eyes at the arrival of Takara and a fellow, a doctor, he presumed.

"Well, glad you got help, and didn't abandon me," he commented dryly.

"Beware what you do," Takara growled softly at the doctor. "If you even begin to cause more damage, you'll be dead before you know what hit you... so you should know now it'll be this..." she tapped the hilt of her knife. The doctor nodded.

Xan's face turned sad, he reached over and grabbed Takara's wrist away from her dagger, then he held her hand in both of his hands, weakly. "Now, Takara...I can see you must have some problems with doctors, but there's no need for concern," he said, smiling faintly, but it turned into a grimace as he felt a pain pang through him. Xan returned to his previous state, "I've lived through worse."

Xan let go of Takara's hand and looked off, his eyes sad and thoughtful.

The blacksmith approached, a look of concern on his grissled face. "Well Xan, you got out of that scrap lucky," the blacksmith commented.

"I guess," Xan replied, his words heavy and tired.

"Hello Dr. Waverly," the blacksmith said to the doctor.

"mm," the doctor replied, as he worked away on Xan.

"I saw your assisstant, or whatever she is, come up to the ring in the last round. Tellis her name?" He questioned, stroking his beard.

"mmhm," the doctor confirmed.

"Ah, well, she and some fellow just stood right here next ta' Xan, and didn't even look to check if he was okay," the blacksmith replied indignantly.

"Yeah...I remember that," Xan replied to the blacksmith this time, his gaze growing more distant.

"I thought healers weren't supposed to turn a blind eye to the sick and injured...so much for human compassion," the blacksmith retorted indignantly.

Xan's eyes grew even more depressed, the blacksmith paused in his ranting and rambling. "I'm sorry Xan, I know how you feel about the the world and people...and what it's like being left to die," the blacksmith said saddly.

"On the battlefield," Xan replied.

"And other places, don't forget," the blacksmith said lightly.

"Yes...I remember, and I don't think I ever will forget," Xan replied.

The blacksmith smiled saddly, he turned his attention to Takara. He had compassion in his eyes when he saw the worried look on her face. "Don't worry, he'll live...but he's lived a hard life...memories haunt..." he mumbled his last comment. "Treat him kindly, he's done nothing but good, yet he's gone through so much pain," the blacksmith said kindly to Takara.

The blacksmith got up, turning to leave. "Xan, I found your Pu Dao in the market, you know I put alot of effort into making that, don't go losing it again...I'll be by where ever you're staying in the morning to give it back, along with the flail and earnings from the fight," the blacksmith said cheerily, as he waddled away.

Xan smiled, "odd man indeed...but he knows me like a book." Xan turned his head towards Takara, he had a groggy smile on his face, "so...where am I staying?" He lifted an eyebrow, because he had no room to stay in at either inn.

******

The old man sat there, looking after the merchant like an owl, then her friends just started flocking away, until he was the only one left, besides Bob the pony, who was a ways off.

The old man frowned, "can't follow 'em as a cat, can't follow them as a squirrel, can't even follow them as a human being."

The old man looked up as the sky swirled with heavy wind, and slight clouds moved in. He reached over, and retrieved what had been left in the wagon by the merchant, as it wasn't on the pony. He got up, walking off towards the square.

When he got there, he stared at two mancers, plain as day in their robes, which marked that they were mancers, and what type of mancers they were, unlike his kind.

He looked up, knowing what they were doing, he heard a roar, and a dragon made of dancing fire appeared in the sky. Not long after a wind dragon appeared to challenge it.

"Show offs," he muttered as he shook his head in disdain. He turned, heading in the opposite direction, towards the Smoking Dragon Inn.

He entered the inn, seeing the happenings and such.

He walked over and sat at a small table in the corner, setting down the merchant's remaining things, he observed what was going on from his little region. No one had seemed to notice him, but he didn't mind.

An employee, a young girl approached, she smiled at him, "can I get you something sir?"

"Hm? Oh, yes, get me a rose hip, and herbal tea mix, and could you put some sage leaves in it dearie? I'd much appreciate it, thank you," he said kindly.

The girl smiled and left, while he remained staring at the conglomerate of youngsters, unconcerned that they had left him sitting on a wagon, as old as he seemed.

Renn approached him with his tea, only to go wide eyed at the sight of him. "Yosh..." Renn was cut off, as the old fellow lifted a fingure to his lips, and at the same moment caught the cup of tea, which Renn had dropped at the sight of him, faster than an old man should be capable of.

"Erm, uh, I mean, Yuri...Old Yuri, what are you doing here?" He said eyes still pretty wide, sweat beads forming on his forehead. Few people in the town knew who Old Yuri really was, Renn was one, so was the Blacksmith, Gordan the Horse Tamer, and Dr. Waverly, plus Misumi the Silversmith, and the keeper of the other inn, Doug; that was all, no more, no less.

"What am I doing here indeed," Yuri retorted, his glare long, hard, and stern.

Renn's sweat increased, and he swallowed hard, to the town Yosho was like an omen of doom, because Druids had bad histories, another reason for his hermatage.

To those who knew him, he was not considered a good thing to see, aspecially in their establishments, but they knew he didn't cause trouble.

Yuri looked around, no one had seen him catch the falling cup, nor had they seen Renn's reaction, or so he could assume.

Old Yuri looked up at Renn, his gaze hard, "no worries Renn, I'm not here for you...I have omens that I'm following," he said, nodding towards the merchant and her man friend, then he glanced over at the gangly fighter he had seen in the ring as a squirrel, and the woman treating him, who had a straight, tactical gaze.

"Ah," Renn replied, his tensed muscled relaxing.

"But I need you to treat me as I am...Old Yuri. I also need a favor," he told Renn.

Renn swallowed and nodded, "a favor, I can do that, I guess, I owe you one at the least."

"You, and all the others owe me more than just one favor...but yes, this can go towards that," Yuri snapped, but quickly calmed at the last comment, a rare thing for the knidly man and Druid.

"Well, uh, what can I do?" Asked Renn pensively.

"Gather the others, I need their sevices," he told him. "Tell Gordan to go to my home and get my things, he'll know what to do. Tell Misumi that I need her crafting skills, she'll understand, the rest can come as they please for me to talk to them," Yuri replied, his face still straight and stern.

"Yes, I can do that," Renn said, turning around to go do as he was bid.

Yuri took a drink of the tea, studying the liquid when he had taken his first sip. "Renn," he called after him.

"Yes?" He asked nervously.

"Good tea, as usual," he commented with a small smile.

Renn smiled back nevously, but to him, Yuri smiling at him was a good thing. "Thank you," he replied, heading off.

Renn called one of his employees, a young boy, he whispered something in his ear, the boy nodded and ran out the back door of the inn.

Old Yuri turned his attention back to the young people, conversing and such, his forever intent eyes staring at them...unblinking.

Moving to her side, he grinned and said, "Good morning, Sleeping Beauty."

She squinted at him, still a little disconcerted.Aya looked left, and then right, then blinked before focusing on Carwyn again.

"I fainted, didn't I?" Aya asked him. She heard a loud roar from outside, and saw a bright flashes at the window. She bolted upright. "And I'm missing the fireworks!" She blinked then, feeling a bit dizzy from rising too fast, and took a couple of deep breaths.

Feeling a bit more oriented now, she looked around. Kai was being tended to on a pallet by the fire by Tellis. Bora-Cho the monk was sitting at a small table coveting a collection of draught ales. Jonas was standing by the window, looking outside at the fireworks. And the old man that had been Aya's last customer was sitting at a table near....

"Oh, my gods... my stall!" Aya struggled to her feet. "I need to get my things!"

Carwyn's arm shot out and grabbed Aya by her shoulder as she stood and wobbled. "Easy there, no need to go rushing anywhere." He gestured with his head at the eccentric old man sitting in the corner. "Your things are over there with your last customer," he told her.

Aya squinted in the direction Carwyn had indicated. "Oh... all right then." Her eyes widened again as she remembered something else. "Bob!" she said frantically. "I have to go find him!" She made to exit the door, but Carwyn's grip on her shoulder didn't loosen and she was stopped short.

"Kyo went out to get him, don't worry." He motioned her over to a chair. "Take it easy, cowgirl."

"You'll stay with us," Takara said, her eyes steadily focused on Dr. Waverly. Briefly, she looked down at Xan. "With Katsuro and me." Then, her eyes returned to the doctor. "You need someone around who'll make sure you're not up and moving around before you're fit to do so."

Katsuro tugged gently on his mother's arm. Her gaze flickered to him before again returning to the doctor.

"What is it, Katsuro?" she asked absently. He spoke a short sentence urgently in another language to her and her eyes completely left Dr. Waverly to take in her son's face.

"I..." she stammered, taking a step back. Scowling, she shook her head and looked away. This time, her focus did not return to the doctor. Instead, concentrating intently on the wall to her right, she crossed her arms over her chest, seeming determined to let the doctor do his work without her constant, distrusting gaze distracting him.

One their way back to the inn, something caught Kyo's eye.

The crowd had mostly dispersed by this point, and the wanderer spotted something tucked beneath the wagon that Aya had been using as a stall earlier that day. Frowning, he tugged on Bob's lead and headed back to the cart.

Bending down, he pulled from the shadows an urn and a bag of coins. Aya's profit for the day and...well, he had one good guess as to what the urn was. Pulling the grey cloth away from the two items it had previously hidden, he prayed a quick, silent prayer for the dead and for penance for having to disturb the ashes of one he did not know.

Mr. Sam S'Ornaku, it's a pleasure to finally meet you.

Removing the bag, he secured it in one of Bob's saddle packs. Then, using the grey cloth, he re-covered the urn and secured it gently beneath his arm. Taking up Bob's lead again, the two made their way to the inn again.

Overhead, a battle between two dragons was raging, and Kyo smiled. He would recognize their magic anywhere - Toa and Hoshiko. The swordsman scanned the skies, watching this battle between Wind and Fire as he tied Bob to a stand outside the inn, set the still covered urn down on a bench, and then seated himself next to it. Pulling out the puzzle again, he began to twist the peices as he watched the display of magic.

Kai watched Tellis dressing his wounds, his wounds were pretty bad, none too deep, but enough of them to cause a large amount of bleeding. She got him cleaned up pretty goood though, she could see the other scars on his chest and back, subtle, wounds that had been treated well to leave little scaring, but her trained eye spotted them. This man had seen a lot of battle for his young age.

"Kai thanks this healing woman." He said, smiling at her, then giving his odd one eye'd wink. "Let Kai pay you of course," he murmured, pulling a small coin purse out and digging around in it, he pulled out a small diamond and placed it in her hand. "That should cover it." It way more than covered it, of course. But he would have nothing of protests, and infact simply ignored any attempt to give the diamond back. He was adpet at ignoring too, and after a few moments was sleeping off his injuries.

Akira had taken a glimpse of the two Dragons fighting and then saw the stall. Toa and Hosh. Seemed beautiful.

Blast it, He told himself, I forgot Bob! Stupid, stupid, stupid!

He then noticed Kyo as he sighed. He went inside of the Smoking Dragon, while he brought the flares under his cloak.

Xan closed his eyes, Dr. Waverly was almost finished, and he could feel it.

After another few minutes the doctor sat up, he gave a small smile. "Well, everything is as fixed as it will get at this point," Dr. Waverly told them, wiping his hands off.

Not but a few moments later, a young boy came running up, whispering something in the doctor's ear. "Oh my, Old Yuri?....okay," the doctor mumbled the first half of his comment, then complied to what the boy had said.

"Well, keep him resting until morning, and get him somewhere where he can rest, and he'll be fine," the doctor told them, then got up, and headed off in a slight haste.

Xan looked over at the two. "Well, that wasn't so bad, was it? Now if one of you can hand me my tabard and belt, we can head to the inn," Xan said, his voice still rather wearie.

He motioned her over to a chair. "Take it easy, cowgirl."

Aya reluctantly sat down in the chair that Carwyn had directed her to. “But… I feel fine now. And, I’m missing the fireworks.”

Carwyn gave her a disapproving look.

Aya sighed. “Can I at least get up to check on my stuff?” She rose slowly and headed for the table where the old man and the remainder of her things were.

“Erm…thanks for bringing in my things from the wagon,” she said to him, but as she started to look through them, she noticed that something was missing. Something, important. Her brow suddenly furrowed with worry. “I…erm….” She looked around, even casting a glance under the table. “I… I have to go.”

Without a backward glance at Carwyn or the old man, she bolted outside. But just as she crossed the threshold she stopped dead in her tracks and looked upwards.

Up in sky, there were dragons fighting. Not real dragons, she realised, but ‘mancer dragons. Spectacular fireworks indeed! She watched, entranced by them for the moment, but then she remembered why she had gone outside in the first place.

“Father…,” she whispered under her breath, and then she began to head for the wagon.

"You wouldn't be searching for your father, would you, Miss S'Ornaku?"

Kyo looked slightly amused as Aya went running out of the inn, pausing to watch the skies for a moment before remembering her duty. The swordsman motioned to Bob, who stood beside the bench, and then to the urn, that rested on the bench beside him.

As Aya saw her father's urn sitting on the bench beside Kyo, her mouth dropped. Not only did Kyo still have her coin, her only memento of her father, but now he was in possession of her father's ashes as well!

Her mouth abruptly closed and her eyes narrowed slightly. She wasn't sure if Kyo had taken the urn to keep for her, or if he was going to use it as a bargaining chip. She approached him cautiously.

She nodded to the urn. "Can I have that, please?" she asked tentatively.

He studied her a moment, seeming a bit confused about her request. He also noted that, though she asked for the urn, she hardly seemed to have even noticed that she was missing the large bag of coins that was her profit for the day.

"Of course." he said, pulling the grey cloth from around the urn, and holding it to her. "Why would you ask me that?"
