Jae Onasi Posted March 13, 2007 Posted March 13, 2007 Jasra, as winner of the last Tales contest, has decided on 'Betrayal' as the theme for this month, in honor of the Ides of March Submissions will be due March 31st at 5pm CDT (UTC -5). If you have any questions about the topic--post them here!!
Diego Varen Posted March 13, 2007 Posted March 13, 2007 Good choice Jasra and congrats for winning. I shall participate once again.
Sabretooth Posted March 13, 2007 Posted March 13, 2007 I have a question. Does the Betrayal in question have to occur in the story, or can we have it had in the past? (Stupid question, yes) That's cause I'm planning: A SEQUEL, BABY!!
Jae Onasi Posted March 13, 2007 Author Posted March 13, 2007 Yes, the betrayal can have taken place in the past. Just make sure that it's not a brief mention. The overall theme should be about betrayal, but it the timing of the betrayal is up to you.
The Doctor Posted March 13, 2007 Posted March 13, 2007 Excellent choice, Jas. I may submit a fic, if I get the chance... Edit: I can't seem to edit my post above, so Jae, could you please combine these two posts? We made TJC a no-edit forum so people can't change their fics in the middle of the contest. --Jae I also have a question. I know we're not allowed to submit a short we've posted somewhere already, but are we allowed to post a re-write of said pre-posted short? For example, if I had submitted a re-write of Shattered Love, Shattered Faith for the last competetion, would it have been accepted?
Jae Onasi Posted March 13, 2007 Author Posted March 13, 2007 I'm going to disallow re-writes, unless they are substantially different from the original. If you use the same idea but go in a different direction with it, that's fine. However, a simple re-write/revision is not enough different from a previously posted fic. Part of the goal here is to make you stretch your writing wings with something new.
HK-42 Posted March 13, 2007 Posted March 13, 2007 I'll do this one. Love just isn't my best writing theme. Betrayals better.
Daft Adidas Posted March 13, 2007 Posted March 13, 2007 well i've done mine. Good luck and well done on the win Jasra and everyone else who entered!
Diego Varen Posted March 13, 2007 Posted March 13, 2007 I'm currently writing a rewrite of my Darth Bastila Short Fic, but it will be slightly different from the original. Expect it soon and something tells me I'll do better with this one. Good choice for a topic Jasra.
Jae Onasi Posted March 14, 2007 Author Posted March 14, 2007 You cannot do rewrites of previously published stories unless you are making changes that are substantial enough to make the fic very different from the original. If you submit a re-write, and I review it and find it is too close to the original, it will not be accepted for the contest.
SilentScope001 Posted March 14, 2007 Posted March 14, 2007 Hm...I'm going to try something in the vein of ED's work in the contest. *starts scribbling*
Rabish Bini Posted March 16, 2007 Posted March 16, 2007 Excellent choice Jasra, expect to see me in this contest as well.
The_Catto Posted March 16, 2007 Posted March 16, 2007 I'm not really good with the whole 'love' thingy, so i might give this one a go. Betrayal seems a whole lot more fun
NateDogg Posted March 19, 2007 Posted March 19, 2007 Hmm sounds like a great theme, I may actually attempt a fan fic for this one. Congrats on winning.
Diego Varen Posted March 20, 2007 Posted March 20, 2007 I'm not sure yet, but I might not post for this now, since I'm busy at the moment and I haven't been that creative at the moment. Whether I post a Fic or not, I will still read what people have wrote.
Sabretooth Posted March 20, 2007 Posted March 20, 2007 Hmmm... I'm starting to think I won't be posting this month. I can't seem to find a worthy story to post. I'm having one idea, but I'll prolly release it separately as a shortie.
RC-1162 Posted March 20, 2007 Posted March 20, 2007 Hmm, I think I might give this one a go to get those rusty gears back to work. Nice theme, I can see some ideas already, now to sort them. Congrats Jasra!
NateDogg Posted March 21, 2007 Posted March 21, 2007 I submitted mine, first time I have done a fan fic in like two years though so it might suck. Good Luck everybody.
Emperor Devon Posted March 31, 2007 Posted March 31, 2007 Damn those time zones. I really could've used the three extra hours. But at least this one wasn't another 2AMer...
