Why would someone want to hide when playing on a band? Well, maybe if the band only played bad scores...

Ouch. :p

Anyway, I could come up with clichés like "Listen to your heart" and the like, but seriously, if all your friends say to go for it, just go for it!! :)

0/10 :(. Nice one mate! way to make a passing friendly comment into an argument , I was merely commenting on how nerves often attack when playing "on" a Band, and being the singer is harder, IMO, than being sat at the back of the stage. ability is irrelevant...

I'm not qute sure... I THINK it will be rock... I think that's what he said, but he was a little... blurred on the phone, and I've slept since then... :)
I'm all for music, so I think you should give it a try. Besides, you can only find out if it'll work out if you try. Sitting at home worrying won't get you anywhere. :)

^ I know what you mean. I get really nervous before playing in front of people, but luckily I'm a bassist, and so no-one pays attention to me anyway :)
Except other bassists, who will insist on approaching you after the show just to tell you how much you sucked. Heh.

Lulz at this whole thread.

If it turns out to be Punk Rock, I'm afraid you will no longer be welcome here. :p

For the record, Punk isn't Avril Lavigne or any of those other BS posers that call themselves that thankyouverymuch...

Punk's not dead and it's awesome, it's just not on MTV anymore and the stuff that is couldn't be any further from Punk than Proxima Centauri is from Earth...

If it's that kind of music you're gonna be making please go back to playing with Lego thanks ;)

Apologies, it wasn't my intention to say your band was a bad one and I'm sorry if that's what it seemed. :(

I understand. But I always thought that staying comfortable before a crowd - specially one that looks at you - was a requisite to play on a band.

Not really, I think everyone has a certain amount of stage fright. The thing you need to learn is how to cope with it and a band can be the right place. It certainly was for me. I used to be a nervous kid easily frightened whenever I had to make a speech and it all changed after I had 'survived' a few gigs. The more you play, the more confident you'll get (rehearse as much as possible and practice playing your instrument or train your voice). It can be a great inspiration and instigation to go out there and give the audience your best performance.

Playing music can change your life for the better. :)

So what exactly do you guys think I should do? Some guy invited me to be the lead singer in his band, and I'm considering it... but I want to discuss it with a few people first...

If you have to ask this question, then you're not ready. Perhaps you shouldn't.

...but, if you do decide to be the face and front-man for this band, don't go in half-assed. Go in and kick ass.

Go in with an open mind, rehearse and get to know each other, then go and rock some faces off.

Just remember to always get rid of the green m&m's and always, always wear a condom.

That's not my style... I'm saving myself for when I marry. ((I know... unusal for a guy to say, but I honestly don't want to be known as a freakin Man-whore.))

Sure, that's only natural. Sweating and shacking comes with such public displays. Nevertheless, it's possible to have those feelings and still feel comfortable on the stage.

Rueben, I actually played the role of the main singer on band a few times; nothing serious, but the feeling - specially when you hear the crowd going nuts - is rewarding.
