Cygnus Q'ol
It seems the Astros have been on the road most of the early season, I just hope that helps their late season record. If they win at home it will. The Crew is in a similar boat. We've had some very long disasterous road trips. There are a lot of home game late in the season and they've got a great record at home this year. Hopefully the home cookin' can give an edge. Berkman's a stud and he deserved the award. He's been very hot. He also managed to get 3 hits. If he keeps batting like this, Pinella will have to move him up in the batting order. I'd put him at lead-off the way he's hittin'. The Cubs have the balance right now. Great starting pitching, timely power hitting and pretty good defense. They run the bases well and close out games nicely. If you do those things on a consistent basis, you are destined for a good record come Sept.
DarthAve
Cleveland Rocks! Cleveland Rocks! Cleveland Rocks! GO TRIBE Being from Ohio, I kind of support this... even though I think Grady Sizemore is way overhyped, and not as cute as all my female friends say.. Wait, arn't Cleveland sports supposed to be a joke??? This is why I normally don't follow sports...
Cygnus Q'ol
...pulls out ancient thread and dusts it off. Nervously peers around corner to see if Cubfan Moderator is watching. coast is clear... The NL Central race is taxing my nervous system. The Crew seem like they're going for it. With the acquisition of key players CC Sabathia and Ray Durham, they seem to be stockpiling for battle. Will Soriano's return push the Cubbies over the top? Will Kerry Wood's respite hinder the late innings? Can the Cards muster enough to keep pace with the Brewers over in the left lane with the pedal down, hot on the Cub's rear end? Will Milwaukee's late inning pitching hold out in the key NL series to come? Which of the NL Central line ups seems most potent? Will the experience of the managers come into play? A lot of questions to be answered. This race isn't heating up, it's already on fire. ...and for those of you in the NL and AL East, good luck sorting out that mess. BTW, who told the Tampa Rays they could be so good? Wow! Who'd a thunk...?
mimartin
...pulls out ancient thread and dusts it off. The thread was better off dead and buried, much like the Astros season. Save for one hot month, the Astros are the worst team in baseball. The only thing saving my sanity is 37 days. 37 days till the Longhorn football season kicks off. Which of the NL Central line ups seems most potent?I don't know, but I do like the fact that there are two teams between St. Louis and first place. If Milwaukee can get past St. Louis tonight, I see no reason for them to cool off over the weekend as they have a three game series with Houston. I usually watch most Astros games on television, this season it is just background noise while I play Morrowind. I’m patiently waiting for the Astros to be put out of my misery, yea! 36 days 23 hours and 46 minutes till the Longhorns kick off.
TriggerGod
There was this crazy game I saw. It was the Jays vs. Brewers (I am a Brewers fan). It was like, 9-1 at the middle of the ninth. We decided to leave before the traffic was horrible (nice timing too, A Big Rig lost its load on an interstate, so we were taken on a detour ). So we were listening to the radio on the way back, and after they mention the reason that part of the interstate was closed up (Big Rig) they talk about the Nerve Wreaking game today. WTF? And we later learn... the Jays closed the gap, and the BJ's lost 10-9. It was nearly a no-hitter too, until like the fourth..

Inyri
I dunno, coming in second is more of a blow. At least if your team is in last you have no expectations and no sudden disappointment.

Your obviously not a Houston sports fan. Our greatest triumphs in our sports history is being second fiddle to the Pittsburg Steelers or the Chicago White Sox. Houston did win two championships in basketball, but even those have an asterisk next to them in the rest of the country.

Cygnus Q'ol
I am a Cubs fan. 'Nuff said, right? We know about disappointment. Nothing personal of course, but I do hope that continues for at least one more season. The Crew has come too far to turn back now. Can't believe the Angels right now. Awesome. The Rays are surprising to me this season as well. Who is having the most impressive season IYO so far? ...and how could What'shisname(?) lose the homerun derby after that sparkling, record breaking second round? That rule has to change. In my opinion he won that contest. He handed it to Morneau.

mimartin
I watched the Astros broadcast of the game against Cygnus Q’ol Crew last night. The Astros winning was funny, but my real laughter came from their poll question about who would win the National League Central. 55% voted for the Astros, only goes to prove the rose color glasses work in Texas (that or most of the Houston fans were drunk at the time). Cygnus Q'ol
Those d*mn Astros! ...always have trouble with those guys. For some reason, they just match up well with Milw. Doesn't matter who's record is better, they both always play each other hard. CUBS VS. CREW In Highlander, this would be considered the gathering. We must see who's who. Soon it will be the time of the quickening and in the end, there can be only one. Strap up your boots, this is gonna be one helluva series. Rev7
Can't believe the Angels right now. Awesome. They normally have a great season. The Rays are surprising to me this season as well. Very surprising to me. My dad was surprised when I told him that they were doing really well, and when I showed him the standings for the Brewers and Cubs. He was really surprised with the Brewers. Who is having the most impressive season IYO so far? I would have to go with the...Brewers, Cubs, and Tampa Bay. I can't really choose one. They are all having outstanding seasons. That would be my non-biased answer, BTW.

Brewers were decent already. The Rays by far are having the most impressive season. Worst to first.
Cygnus Q'ol
...Carlos Zambrano, Whoooooop! sonofamotherlessgoat! Well, the Cubbies have tied it up. The Crew took 4 outta 6 in Wrigley earlier this year, now the Cubs have knotted it to 4 apiece with two very impressive wins here at Miller Park. The first game was a shoot out with the Cubs having the last laugh in the eighth. Last night Zambrano put on a clinic and had the whole team, including all-stars, looking like blindfolded children swinging at a pinyata. ...all this while Sheets got mobbed in the 6th with a 7 hit, 5 run inning. Needless to say, I'll have to hurry to Best Buy after work and pick up my new TV for tonight's game. My anger management class will just have to wait until after this series. I just hope the contractor's finished putting in my new front window.
Rogue Nine
Philadelphia vs. Tampa Bay - Game 1, Wednesday @ The Trop. Who'da thunk the Rays would be in the World Series this year, honestly? My hat's off to them for an improbable season. Oh, and watching them can the Boston Red Sox was a decidedly guilty pleasure for me as well. Eat it good, Red Sox nation.
