I've always thought HK-47 deserved a new and better skin. I was disappointed with the TSL one, so I tricked out the KOTOR 1 skin. Although I did the same for the TSL one, at the moment I'm only releasing the KOTOR 1 skin.

I make HK-47 into...HD-47! Check out his next-generation graphics look!

Good points, all of you. I guess I was geared more towards eye candy and less towards realism. It's not bad for someone looking for that kind of thing, I suppose. But, yes, it is a bit overdone and not realistic. Still, I find it attractive, but if you don't, that is perfectly fine.

EDIT: Also, thanks for your very constructive criticism, guys! This is my first skin I've ever made. I used to be only a recruitable character kind of guy, but I'm broadening my horizons :D

I almost hate to say it, but the first thing that came into my mind when I saw these, was the Golgothan $#!t demon from Dogma. Since that isn't very constructive, I'll add a bit more.

Using only one colour for the whole body is a bit monotonous, and makes him look "flat" and lifeless. It looks like you've used some bevel and emboss (as Quanon points out) to compensate for the "flatness", but IMO it doesn't work so well, and only makes him look "lumpy". I've found that the trick to using filters (like Bevel & Emboss, or texture overlays) is to be subtle with them, and to apply them to small areas, not the entire skin. I'd personally leave most of the mechanical areas alone (like inside the ribcage and the inner thigh).

Also, when I make my alpha 1 channel, I usually do it after I've made the changes to the texture. Right now, the CM_Baremetal shine contradicts the bumpy texture. To get them to match up, I'd copy the final skin, desaturate it, invert it (swaps the black and white), then I'd adjust the levels so that it was mostly white, with only a few dark areas (all the highlights from the "bumps" for example).

In the end, the bumps only look odd because they are completely brown. On a mostly gold or silver skin, with some complex colours (like some pale greens or pinks), then it might look like some pitted, scarred metal.

Keep working at it, don't give up.

I think you are all a bunch of crytics.

I think it's great!

Well Redrob had a point, its a bit easy to go and trash a first reskin.

Though, our comments still stand.

Reskinning is more then just clicking 5 times in GIMP/ PS for filters/other flashy effects and yell you made this uber great reskin -_-

And this is not a release thread, so DD is after some comments to know what to improve. Not all comments can be of the OMG LUUUUVEE Thah Skinz

Its ofcourse cool to get those comments ^_^ , but they aren't that helpfull.

This is not personally at you DD, but follow Redrobs advice, go an extra step and come back to us :)

I'm sure you have it in you !

Looks like you just filter raped it.. :p

5,000,000 HK's are brutally filter raped each year, but you can prevent it. Educate your HK's about filter rape today.

In other words, going postal over bump-mapping filter is not the way to go especially when the shiny shader over it is still smooth as baby's butt.

HK's legs look a bit like they he's got some bad veins going. I think that the skin is a bit too dark as well, which makes details kind of hard to make out.

I think it would look cooler if there was a lot less reflection going on, to give him that weathered, dimmer, brushed steel look. I think a nice touch would be to incorporate some 'battle damage' or a bit of rust into his armour. Realism and 'eye candy' needn't be mutually exclusive.
