For one weekend in June, in the abandoned, crumbling ruins of a Soviet military base near Leningrad, a group of 300 dared the impossible: recreate the immersive, post-nuclear atmosphere of an unforgettable role-playing experience. Fallout 2009: Nothing Personal was an adaptation of various Fallout locations written together to give off a similar feeling of isolation and bleakness, and while the desert was replaced with a forest, the decaying concrete walls of a former military base fit the environment perfectly. Having nearly 1:1 replications of weapons and armor also helps.

Wow - that's some dedication right there. Seriously, that's an impressive amount of work for a single weekend's LARPing.

 

At least they didn't pick Chernobyl as a possible location! :)
