Losun
I am just curious. Is there a way to make a patch, or add the sounds to the old one, or anything? IMHO an all-talkie MI1 would be fantastic.
Nickelstein
No there isn't but there might be. We'll have to wait and see...
Fealiks
Not yet, but I really expect it to happen soon.
Silvor
It would be a dream if the speech could somehow be added to the regular dos version instead of the classic version inside the sepcial edition, seeing as how buggy the version inside the SE is. Still this probably can't be done without an incredible amount of work I realise.
cocomonk22
Of course there is a way. However, it would be a lot of work.
Nickelstein
There is the Monkey Island Speech Project but it lost its motivation....
Silvor
There is the Monkey Island Speech Project but it lost its motivation.... Thats something else completely, thats for inserting amateur voices into the game.
Guy.brush
Having the SE voices play during the classic mode of the SE will just be a matter of time and dedication. it will get done. Having the SE voices as a seperate voice pack for SCUMMVM compatible versions might be a little more work. Talented SCUMM modders would have to look at the DOTT, FOA talkie versions and build something like that.

Nickelstein
Dammit everyone's forgotten about MISP. When did the Speech Project even begin? I'm curious because the first time I've heard of it was around late 2008. EDIT:My 200th post!!!
plamdi
You can add the new music to the game very easily... however I still think the original sounds better when stripped of the overlayed ambient noises present in the SE.
LordTrilobite
Considering how long it takes to load new rooms even in classic version inside SE, seems to me that everything already is present, just turned off. I wouldn't be surprised if it was almost as simple as flipping a switch.
Espiox
I'm working on putting the new voices into the original CD version using ScummSpeaks (creating the "Talkie" version that never was). If anybody want to help out, I've got a thread in the SCUMM forum: http://www.lucasforums.com/showthread.php?t=199288

irishmile
Dammit everyone's forgotten about MISP. To be honest I was not all that impressed with the voice acting from a lot of the videos and samples on the MISP website.... Not saying I could do better because I couldn't. VoodooFX
I wouldn't regard 10 days without a news post as forgotten project or one without motivation
Nickelstein
They don't have motivation because of SOMI:SE. Besides I didn't think the voices were that bad irishsmile.

TestType
To be honest I was not all that impressed with the voice acting from a lot of the videos and samples on the MISP website.... Not saying I could do better because I couldn't. I checked this out recently and I wasn't very impressed by the voices either, way over the top and forced. Kinda the same mistake Lucasarts did with their version, trying too hard to make the voices silly when they didn't need to be. Guybrush was pretty good though and the guys behind this should be commended for all the effort.
