You could use an eraser with a very soft edge (0% hardness), or you can make a selection of your layer, then use feather (in photoshop, hotkey should be Ctrl+Alt+D) then delete. a good idea would be to select inverse, and make sure you don't select the entire image. (went to California for Christmas, boy i'm not used to it being so warm compared to Canada! Went to Knott's Berry Farm and man the Silver Bullet roller Coaster is a blast, also saw a newsboys concert, that was great! Sry if this is a little off topic but oh well .)
