purple_tentacle_
I came across this looking for a battlefield wallpaper for my computer. It came up with gears of war and many other games but no battlefield. The only one that popped out was this one background that didnt have to do with a video game at all. But the more I looked at it the more I started thinking and then BAM !!!! It came to me! THIS LOOKS JUST LIKE THE ISLAND FROM COMI!!! (Sorry dont know the name of the island stopped at the start of the game because my computer crashed.) Heres the wallpaper I found looking for a battlefield picture: Show spoiler (hidden content - requires Javascript to show) And heres the picture of COMI: Show spoiler (hidden content - requires Javascript to show)
clone2727
Well, it is a picture of Disney World, so maybe Guybrush never left Big Whoop?

Remi
The only logical conclusion here is that Broken Sword is Guybrush's dream.
Laserschwert
spoiler: (Explanation: This looks as much like Plunder Island as does that image of Disneyland)
Gabez
Yeah, apart from the river, and the general camera angle, I don't see any similarities. The architectural styles aren't even the same. Thanks for sharing though! I can sort of see why it made you think of Plunder Island.
Udvarnoky
I'm not seeing a particularly uncanny resemblance either, but there really wouldn't be anything "odd" about such a discovery, as it is a trait of all five Monkey Island games for their settings to bear the mark of a Disneyland/theme park influence. (And not just the settings that actually are theme parks.) Actually though, your observation makes me wish someone would put together an article to point out the really noteworthy parallels that could be drawn between in-game settings and Disneyland locales in all five games. Obviously, this has been done pretty thoroughly for MI1 and MI2 as evidence for the Big Whoop thing, but it's a series-wide characteristic and and a more inclusive approach would at the very least lend itself to some pretty cool side-by-side comparisons that a lot of people might not have considered. I've no doubt that there are imprints of Adventureland to be found on Plunder Island, for example.

purple_tentacle_
Oh its Disneyland? Ha Ha didnt know. Well The only thing that rminded me was the river under the bridge. I thought that it was kind of cool. But the building are very very different. I sill think they look alot alike. Oh and I was wondering what is it you guys are talking about Big Whoop? I havnt played all the games and have drifted away from them. Did Guybrush ever find Big WHoop? EDIT: Sorry just noticed the spoiler tags they were suposed to be hidden tags. Ha Ha I dont like big images in posts.
