Miltiades
As of today, Belgium becomes world record holder in the category "longest government formation", with a total of 249 days, overtaking previous world record holder Iraq. Obviously, the Belgian people are ecstatic and parties are being thrown all over the country for the biggest event in Belgian history since the Belgian Revolution (granted, the latter was pretty much an accident of history, but hey, it wouldn't be Belgium if it wasn't)! Today, we can be proud to call ourselves Belgians! There are whispers that Belgium will only become world record holder on the 31st of March, because it is said that Iraq had its government a month after the agreement between the different parties. These are, of course, shameless lies told by Iraqis to disrupt this wonderous event. But even if this would be true, the Belgian people wouldn't be thrown off-guard, because it'd mean we get to celebrate twice! Sabretooth
Awesome. Though the only news this brings me is that Somalia does actually have a government. So what's the next step going to be? Longest protracted civil war?
Negative Sun
Voor vorst voor vrijheid en voor recht! We Belgians already were awesome at everything else so this is just another fine addition hehe
Canderis
This is something to be proud of?
Miltiades
@Sabre: We don't do civil war. Too messy, too much effort needed. The next step would be elections without the previous elections having resulted in a government. Not sure if it has been done before, if not, we can add another unique record to our repertoire! @Canderis: They don't call us Surrealist Belgium for nothing! Quanon
Waar is dat feestje? HIER IS DAT FEESTJE Gotta luuve Belgium; at least we've got good beers and chocolate still avaible! I hope we can really up the record; cause I don't want to be beaten fast!

Lord of Hunger
Well it sounds like Belgium is doing along happily enough without their government. This makes me somewhat relieved, as it's looking like the US government is going to be shut down too soon. We'll be happy to join the party. Pavlos
So what's the next step going to be? Longest protracted civil war? The Romans and their sixty years of conflict towards the end of the Republican period will be pretty difficult to beat I imagine. Congratulations to our friends across the North Sea. I present you with this magnificent reproduction of the complete works of Alcuin of York to be displayed in its accompanying mahogany-lined case. Consider it an apology for Charlemagne invading you. Sorry it took so long. Pax et stabilitas longe vivant and all that.
Ctrl Alt Del
Well, part of my family came from french-speaking Belgium but I guess they liked that the government provided them with insurances when they were homeless, sick and utterly miserables. Too bad.
