mimartin
It is being reported that signer/actress Whitney Houston has passed away at age 48. I know it really isn't a surprise with her battle with substance abuse, but I'm still shocked. Not a real fan, but I did think she has a beautiful voice. I only had own her debut album, even only liked one song on it, but it was one of my guilty pleasure that I wrote about in a recent poll. (This BBCode requires its accompanying plugin to work properly.) RIP Whitney Houston
Totenkopf
Not really surprised given her history. Still, 48 is pretty young for checking out in this day and age.

Shem
I have a friend who thinks Whitney is like the best singer he's ever heard and he's totally going nuts over this.
Q
This is insane. WTF. Awesome voice. Always thought she had a chip on her shoulder, though. Anyway, RIP.

Qui-Gon Glenn
I had the displeasure of waiting on Bobby Brown and Whitney on Bobby's birthday... I guess it was about 2003/4, and it was a jazz club I was working at, waiting tables. Bobby was trashed. So was Whitney. Although they were still married, the thing that stands out was that Whitney wanted nothing to do with BB... on his birthday! She brushed him off several times; mostly I think this was due to his insistence on joining the band to sing (poorly) several times - he was probably trying to drag her out there with him. Despite her inebriation, I was proud of Whitney for staying away from that idiot, just for a moment.... RIP pretty lady, you sure could sing. Q
Never understood why she married that talentless poser. EDIT: Apparently, she drowned in the bathtub. She must've been really hammered.

mimartin
I love Americans... Their idiocy never ceases to dishearten me. hmmm... iTunes did the same thing in England and there was the same outrage. Also last I checked, if it was Sony instead of Apple that cause the rate hike, Sony's main headquarters is still in Japan. Looks like the rate hike hasn't hurt sales. On the American iTunes #1 Single is I will Always Love you, #2 Video I Wanna Dance with Somebody, #5 video Greatest Love of All and #2 Album is Whitney - The Greatest Hits

gamemania26
She was definitely one of the best female voices in a long time. It is a shame that her dirtbag hubby beat her then got into the alcohol and drugs. RIP Whitney
Shem
I love Americans... Their idiocy never ceases to dishearten me. So according to your logic, all Americans are the same. And Americans are the only people in the world that are interested in profits. Your stereotypical attitude needs a serious adjustment and so does your ignorance. Your stereotypical attitude needs a serious adjustment and so does your ignorance. No, I don't refer to the American people as a whole. In fact, many Americans are nice. But, there are a LOT of idiotic Americans out there. EDIT: Let me clarify myself. I love America, and I love the people in it. I am, however, sick of the government, and Corporate America. Even the phrase, "Corporate America", gives the hint of a corporatocracy or corporate capitalism.

I'd suggest you learn to word your responses differently.

I'm a bit ignorant about all this 99% stuff and so on, so can some on explain to me, preferably over PM, what the whole deal is with Corporate America being bad? As someone who has lived through the transition from SU-inspired socialism to gleeful capitalism, I'd really like to know what the big problem is with "corporate capitalism". Taak Farst
LDR has took my American-hating role :@ (Nah, i'm jus' playin' ) A couple lit a candle in remembrance of Whitney, and went to bed, forgetting the candle was lit. The candle burnt their house down. Oh bitter irony. But still, R.I.P Whitney
