My GPU client has been throwing the occasional exception resulting in the core shutting down with an UNSTABLE_MACHINE status but it's really been struggling with getting new WU's to process. For example last night it spent about 4 hours just trying to get a new WU after it processed the previous one and 3 hours processing about 1.5 WU's. :roleyess:

One of the last things I was dreaming this morning was that our Folding@LFN team decided to meet in person to discuss pertinent topics and show off our Folding@Home gear. As I dreamt on, I scavenged my old P4 PC and turned it into a diskless client. Then a loyal broom came walking back on its own to my garage after going to visit a friend who used to tell it great stories. Fortunately that friend didn't have as good of singing voice and we all caroused to the sound of a lute.

tk, I am officially worried about you. You should not be dreaming(day or night) about a bunch o dudes with computers and foldin :(

Here's some ATI honeyz to take your mind off things.. (apologies to Lexxy)

@Char - Ive never had such problems... I wonder what the cause is :(

tk,

That was one supercalifragilisticexpialidocious dream man. :p Or should I just use psychadelic as the adjective? ;) Just out of curiousity though, what kind of rig did I have? :D

Astro,

You are the man with the pics! Those ATI girls are hot though I do have to say that I thought the AMD girls were hotter. Go figure. ;)

Miltiades,

Sorry you're experiencing the same or similar problem. I haven't checked the folding forums yet but I don't see any obvious cause for EUE's with the UNSTABLE_MACHINE status on my PC. I haven't made any hardware changes. I'm using NVIDIA's system monitor utility to watch my CPU and GPU temps and I'm not seeing any abnormal spikes. CPU is running in mid 50's Celsius and the GPU in mid 60's. The only software-related change I've done of late is upgrade my anti-virus/firewall app but it seems to be working as it should. My client never says it can't connect. It connect to an assignment server and then says it can't connect to a work server or something along those lines. Anyway, I'm chalking it up to instability in the new 1.15 core for now.

Note to CUDA People(those using nvidia cards) :

Ive updated to Forceware 180.43 Beta[/gpubetajunkie]

All is well :D <<link is for Vistax64 but other versions available at top of screen

Try beta builds at your discretion. usual warnings apply !

@Astro: You might want to check your graphics card, see if the total resistance from the resistors doesn't match up to 666 kiloohms, or you else you might want to get a priest your local religious leader to bless your GPU. :xp:
PC'ed! :D

Miltiades,

Mine seems to be running a bit better too. Last night I processed 4.44 WU's. The .44 was due to the first WU of the run throwing an exception resulting in the core shutting down with an EARLY_UNIT_END instead of the prior UNSTABLE_MACHINE. Still running the 1.15 core and still haven't changed anything on my PC so I don't understand why some WU's process correctly and others don't. Maybe it's how the F@H folks build the WU's?

And of course the other issues with the F@H servers not giving out WU's seems to have cleared up for the time being. The project's GPU servers have been struggling with this problem for a while though so I half expect to run into this problem again.

I got myself an e-sata caddy today and have done a drive reshuffle. The aim being to have everying eventually on one 1TB drive. The 3 drives I had whirring away suck up unnecessary juice [/power freak]

Unfortunately, this reshuffle included the drive that has the OS on it. So a full reinstall from scratch was required - nett result : allowing chainz to gain even more ground :D

*sigh* :xp: I will have to be content with silver... for now ;)

yep. congrats ALL on the super 100K !! And an extra w00t to chainz for passing the 800WU mark :)

Progress in slow up the rankings in the top 1500 ;)

Im back foldin 24/7 atm. It might just be me, but I think the 180.43 drivers have sped things up just a little ?

yes, to celebrate, tk and I caught up with the AMD babez first featured a few pages back.

More dancing, and tk wore his crazy glasses for extra mind altering effects.

@chainz, see this what you missed out on when youre out shacked up in your digital bunker :xp:

cmon tk, you're not suggesting I trawl the net for pictures of buff dudes :p

We all know kitten pictures are the international language of gratitude for fellow female net denizens :D

edit: kakao stats 30 day projection has us in the top 1000

\o/ awesome-o!

A big wad of congratskis are in order for the following milestones :D \o/

*Chainz = 900 WUs

*Charr = 300 WUs

*Miltiades = 200 WUs (soon)

*SDravis = 100Wus

@chainz... you are almost there... we've done our best to keep it a secret but the teamLFN member that first reaches 1000 WUs will be bestowed an unimaginable power...

use this power wisely, young champion. :p

Thanks Astro. I can't believe you prefer Archer to Picard but to each his own. :xp:

And I also noticed ChAiNz now ranks in the top 10,000 folders for the folding@home project. With over a million folding participants that puts him into the top 1%, unless my math is failing me again.

I'm really hoping we can make it into the top 1,000 folding teams by the end of the month. It will be close but if we keep up this pace I think we'll make it. I've started folding all day during the work week so hopefully that gives us a little extra boost. :)
