Yeah, I don't think I would make it as a motivational speaker. ;P

I was curious and when I figured out what the percentage was I thought I would share. :) But we should be breaking into the top 1,000 pretty soon and even sooner if my NIC would stop locking up during the day when I'm at work and can't do anything about it.

And thanks for sharing RAM-Girl. Does she grow DDR3 sticks and if so what is the lead time she requires? I think I'm going to need some of those next year. ;)

Just wanted to say sorry about the lack of contribution lately. My ISP was buggered, kept disconnecting, so my husband gave them a call and they've fixed it now (even though I was without the internet for four days while they did it =/), but anyway, should be back to normal now fingers crossed.

Now that I think about it, I haven't been contributing much either. However I have an excuse. My comp turns off at 11 o'clock, and I forget to start up F@H in the morning when I turn it on again. Is there something I can edit that will make F@H start up automatically when I turn my computer on?

yes.. CONGRATS ALL!! I think we've done a super job to get in the Top1000 after about 6 months. Super Duper. Magical top 800 not too far away! I wonder how long it will take us to hit that 'ceiling' where we reach the teams that have a similar daily average to us...

Thanks! Ponch was a cool cop on CHiPs so it works for me. ;)

Now that it's winter here I've been folding 24/5. I generally do some gaming or other stuff on the weekends so maybe only folding 12-16 hours/day Saturdays and Sundays. I wanted to do as much as I could to get us into the top 1,000 though so I'm quite pleased we've made it there. I just keep watching ChAiNz's GTX 280 crunch through WU's like it can't get enough of them though so I guess things have been pretty busy for him since it seems like his system is always turning in WU's.

Yo ChAiNz! Take a break from the grind stone and stop by and say hi soon mang!

PastramiX,

Did you get the problem with your CPU client fixed? Inability to download new WU's could have a number of causes. It definitely could be a problem with folding@Home's servers but it could be a connectivity problem as well.

At first glance this looks like a connectivity problem.

Which version of the CPU client are you using?

This can be found somewhere in your log file and should look something like the following

# Windows CPU Systray Edition #################################################
###############################################################################

                      Folding@Home Client Version 6.20

                         http://folding.stanford.edu

###############################################################################
###############################################################################

Second thing to do is to check to see if your system can connect to those IP addresses your log file says your folding client can't connect to. This can be done by typing a fully formed URL for one of the servers in your web browser. So when you see in your log file that your folding client can't connect to the server with IP address 169.230.26.30:8080 then all you need to do to check connectivity is type http://169.230.26.30:8080 into the address field of your web browser and press your enter key. You should see OK displayed on the resulting page and nothing else. Not much in the way of flashiness but that is all you have to do. If you get some sort of error instead of OK then your PC is having network connectivity issues that will need further troubleshooting.

Im not sure if it will help PastramiX but when Ive had those errors, it happenned to be when my network was quite busy doing other things. I closed the FAH app, stopped the network activity > restarted FAH and allowed it to find its feet, and off it went. Then I resumed the network activity.

well spotted char, I thought Star Admiral was an existing member with a name change. I was confused for months when you changed your name and av :p

yes, great work SD! if someone here encounters him regularly on the boards/chats - send him our regards :)

As for folding... as mentioned in the tech thread.. I am seriously thinking abut the 295, aka GTX260GX2. ?10,000PPD from one card, no need for a new rig...

still, i'll wait and see what the gaming benches say...

Awww yeah. That would be very nice. Though if Expreview is now saying the GTX 295 will have two-onboard GPU's with 240 stream processors each then that is the same number of stream processors the GTX 280 has so I would think the GTX 295 could process at least 12,000 PPD, as long as they don't clock the GTX 295 too much lower than the GTX 280.
