For me, there are a few games that are really memorable, largely because they introduced something new to me...

1. The arcade Star Wars game with that snazzy ****cpit.

2. A handheld version of the Space Invaders game.

3. Eye of the Beholder II - it was the first RPG I ever played, and I remember I had several parties on the go at the same time at one point. I also played it with a friend of mine - we sat down taking turns and working out the puzzles together. It was great.

4 Wolfenstein 3D - after deleting it twice from the PC's at work, I finally sat down and played it to see why it kept coming back. I blame this game for wrecking my eyesight...because I checked every wall on every level for secrets. I also discovered the best way to play it was with a trackball - because you can spin the ball and do a 180 very fast...essential when being shot from behind. ;)

5 Dark Forces - the first ever Star Wars FPS...it totally captured my imagination.

Then, of course, Jedi Knight arrived...and it's still my favourite game.

Despite it's age and and many rough years, Dark Forces would have to be my most memorable game. I definitely got the most fun out of it as well, and it influenced my life more than any other game to date. During the late evenings of the summer of '97 all I'd do was download new user-made levels for Dark Forces with my friends and play all night long.

I'd love to say Jedi Knight because it's my favorite, but there are two others that were trailblazers for me.

1) Wing Commander. It manages to outweigh Duke Nukem and X-wing in my eyes, even though I also played those and loved them early on. If I didn't feel the need to limit this, I'd add all the WC games.

2) Dark Forces. Because I didn't expect to like it, for some reason. When I played it, it became one of my favorites before I'd even recovered the Death Star plans.

I've played many memorable games. At the time Dark Forces was the greatest shock to my system. It was one the first real Star Wars game for the PC. It, for the first time in my experience, allowed you to look up and down in a fps. The game also had cut-scenes which I did not see before in a fps. All the levels were unique since they took place on different planets and ships. This game really set the pace for all future first person shooters.

Two really memorable games...

Dark Forces...

It completely immersed me in the SW universe...I played it for hours on end, and it was the first game I ever beat.

Sam 'N' Max Hit the Road...

Sheer comedy, great gameplay, and I really dig that naked, foul-mouthed rabbit!!!

I would say it's a tie between a few for me.

Jedi Knight - Never felt so immersed in a game world

Xenogears - Life changing experience

Tenchu : Stealth Assassins - Incredible atmosphere, possibly my favorite game music soundtrack

I know there are more, but those come to mind.:)

PC: Jedi Knight..i remember my first time trying to kill one of those AT-STs, kept dying, i thought it was a boss like in Shadows of the Empire. Also was playing it on my old 486 AST computer. And I liked that game ALOT better than shadows of the empire cause of the enemies talking and they'd actually follow you and fire at the same time, and you could trap them with those mines...aaah the memories!!! :D

In General i'd have to say Rogue Squadron. I remember playing it the day it came out cause one of my friends got it for his birthday...and then I got it for nintendo 64, and played it ALOT...then when I got a newer computer, i got the pc version last year (exactly 1 year yesterday!)

I have 3

1/ Jedi Knight, I went to the States for a week, just to buy a copy over there before it came out over here. Expensive game or what ?

2/ Half Life, It was the most involving game around, at the time.

3/ X-Wing Alliance I still play it !!

I blame these three games for making me the person I am and I'm sure my wife wishes I'd spent as much time with hre as I have playing the above games.

Here we go, by catagory and by impact:

X-Wing- I got that game when I was probably 10 or 11, and I played it for hours on end... really drew me into the star wars universe. Of course now i have X-Wing Alliance (just played a few missions tonight)

Day of the Tentacle- OMG, lucasarts makes the best adventure games. Very Honoroble mention goes to Curse of Monkey Island and Grim Fandango.

Dark Forces- The third level, the sewers, used to scare the crap out of me... classic memories. Honorable mention goes to Coridor 7, the first FPS I ever had, and Half-Life. Yet another game that still manages to scare the crap out of me every once in a while.

Command & Conquer- the 1st multiplayer game I ever played, on my 14.4 modem.

Need For Speed (the original)- best racer ever.

wow that turned out to be a lot...

Hmmmm. This is a hard one. I'll list ones that had the most impact. In a chronological order.

1. Battletech : Crescent Hawk Inception - This game sold me on PC gaming. Played this for hours on end.

2. Civilization- probably the most addictive game I ever played. I spend many many hours playing this game.

3. Half Life/Jedi Knight- these two games did wonders for the FPS genre. And I enjoyed playing through both of these from start to finish.

4. Jedi Outcast??????? :D

jk, that game is 5 years old almost and im still playing multiplayer....really for me the multiplayer experience is the only way to go... a game is nothing without multiplayer...(SP is so, dull, you beat it once and its ... done...) multiplayer you have opponents..its just better...and the difficulty of your opponents is exponentially better on the internet than AI (on any game, not just fps), and multiplayer lets you talk and have fun, and gives you a challenge...

even though jk didnt spawn great changes in the fps world, it did however offer an interesting deviation to what was out in 1997...

also, unreal tournament...its so cool hehe....

for consolez, i would HAVE to mention the greatest game of all time, pokemon (all vers)...that game revolutionized what was on anime (geez there are tons of card game and creature type poke-spinoffs) heh...not to mention setting the bar for other pseudo rpg's...(its sort of an rpg i guess heh...sort of an pseudo rpg/adventure type game), but the concept was novel, and it was cool...

pokemon 0wnz =)

also, i have to give shoutz to the AoE series, which no self-respecting rts player could leave behind...the original aoe is still played a lot, even with the advent of its sequel age of kings has been immensely popular. how many games can say that? (heh is DF played much? i doubt it =)

thoze are the ones i pick, and its my opinion (and im prepared to defend it =))

Dark Forces. Played it everyday on the old P100.

Half-Life. No doubt about it. This game is the top in my books.

Half-Life single player maps. I have played over 25 SP maps and all of them were great.

JK. Loved it although that Boc guy gave me some fits.

Counter-Strike. This game owns me.:( Wish I could tear myself from it.

Unreal. I just bought Unreal Gold for $6.99 and it was money well spent.
