Brick Posted February 1, 2002 Posted February 1, 2002 I guess I have to swallow my pride and admit that I can't figure out how to set up an avatar. I know where to find the option at the bottom of the options list in User CP, but I simply don't see how to actually select an avatar. Could something in my browser be set wrong? I can just see the look on the faces of those who have probably explained this to countless newbies...
SlowbieOne Posted February 1, 2002 Posted February 1, 2002 Go to User CP, then go to Edit Options, then go to Change Avatar, and that's it.
StormHammer Posted February 1, 2002 Posted February 1, 2002 Just an FYI... There currently seems to be a problem uploading and linking to new avatars. Quite a few members are highlighting this problem, and AFAIK, ZeroXcape is working on resolving the issue. So, if anyone is having a problem with their avatar, please post in this thread.
Brick Posted February 1, 2002 Author Posted February 1, 2002 SlowbieOne, thanks for the reply, but you just told me what I said I already knew. When I click "Change Avatar" it takes mo to a screen that says "Thank you for updating your profile, Brick." The only other thing in the section is "More info" which is completely uninformative (as much so as the FAQ question on this subject). How are you supposed to select one? And what kind of problem is being reported, Stormhammer? More of the same? I've seen a few Avatars change lately, so I figure I'm doing something wrong.
StormHammer Posted February 1, 2002 Posted February 1, 2002 Brick...some files are not being recognised as valid .gif or .jpg files. I tested it with my own avatar pic, which has been up for a while...and it came up with the same error.
JPMaximilian Posted February 2, 2002 Posted February 2, 2002 Sounds like a server prob, Brick, you don't have to feel stupid now!
SL_Ki-Adi-Mundi Posted February 2, 2002 Posted February 2, 2002 I've been having the same problem. The default ones are just fine, but I don't want to use those. I want to use one of my own. But it won't register it as a valid .gif or .jpg file as you said. I hope you guys get it fixed soon. I want to see my cone head underneath my name!!
CaptainRAVE Posted February 2, 2002 Posted February 2, 2002 Well im REAL happy with my avatar :p :p :p :p
Kylilin Posted February 4, 2002 Posted February 4, 2002 I was trying to upload a new avatar, and I keep getting this: "this file is not a valid jpg or gif or whatever the hell it is you are trying to do here"

SL_Ki-Adi-Mundi Posted February 5, 2002 Posted February 5, 2002 Sweeeet! I got my cone-head! Thanks Storm! Or whoever fixed the prob. Now... about that password I can't seem to retrieve for my Ki-Adi-Mundi tag with 177 posts from the original JKII.Net forums...

Vagabond Posted February 5, 2002 Posted February 5, 2002 Well, it would seem that the problem is finally fixed. This avatar is the same as my previous one, except I just added a lightsaber blade, which took a bit of research to figure out how to do
darthfergie Posted February 6, 2002 Posted February 6, 2002 *Takes out plastic Lightsaber and chops Eets in Half* My site is the best...and shall soon have an upgrade (when I get a secondary site because Geocities Editor is really screwed up with all the stuff on mine)
