Rogue15 Posted March 28, 2002 Posted March 28, 2002 Cool, Ike's the King of Egypt! I always wondered where you got the name from, so i decided to see if it had a meaning to it, so i went to http://www.dictionary.com and typed in Ikhnaton to see what it brought up. King of Egypt (1375?-1358?) who rejected the old gods and initiated a monotheistic worship of the sun-god Aton.
Grand_Admiral_Ice Posted March 28, 2002 Posted March 28, 2002 Wasn't that pharoah killed? I thought he just took the name of Akhenaton and changed it to get Ikhnaton
Wraith 8 Posted March 28, 2002 Posted March 28, 2002 emenhotep??? wasnt that the mummy.... in the mummy. oh no...that was imhotep...
Ikhnaton Posted March 29, 2002 Posted March 29, 2002 actually i chose the name from a song title by Genesis. Part 3 of Supper's Ready, a 23 minute epic song frm 1973, is entitled "Ikhnaton and Itsacon and their band of merry men." Ikhnaton and Akhenaton are the same name, just spelled differently. Akhenaton's name was Amonhotep IV before he changed it to worship the sun god Aton instead of the other god Amon.
Zoom Rabbit Posted March 29, 2002 Posted March 29, 2002 I believe it is a matter of history that Akhenaten was the very first monotheist. I believe he was also bisexual...
Ikhnaton Posted March 31, 2002 Posted March 31, 2002 Yes, Ikhnaton was the first non-Jew monotheist. He also was the first to introduce "truth" in Egyptian art. Being of a rather incestous lineage, he had some odd physical traits like large lips, long nose, and a long belly, and he insisted that the artists sculpt and paint him as he really was. The good news of that is that they also did the same for his wife, Nefertiti, who apparently was a hottie. mmm, dead egyptian girls. don't know anything about the bisexual thing though.
