gamecube, its just my personal opinion but man it rocks, i bought one back when it was over 600$ (canadian, now its only 229$) and i dont regret it, just think about this fall when bounty hunter, clone wars, jedi outcast AND knights of the old republic hit the gamecube, its gonna rock. im already saving up.

I like GameCube most as i have always liked Nintendo, but then again PS2 already has a great load of good games out for it and a dvd, if you don't have a dvd yet i would say ps2, if you have a playstaion already you ase more likely to like PS2 better but Nintendo do have the all the best franchies coming out soon and who can resist a good Mazza game, and resi is excluisve to them now, just decide on the kind of games you like, but not Xbox

Seems like many of you haven't seen that the XBOX has beaten the PS2 to every major milestone from the release of a console.... But then again, hard figures seem to be lost on a lot of you people!!

Halo was a lot better launch game than any PS2 game.

I think we will see in the next 2 years how the ease of conversion from PC to XBOX and vice versa will impact on what availability of games there will be on the XBOX. Why would a software company spend a lot of extra money to develop for PS2, when two platforms can be developed quite easily side by side. By the end of this year there will be at least 150 games available here in Australia for the XBOX.

IF, and it is a big IF, XBOX Live is anywhere near a moderate success, we will see the PS3 try to come out before it is really ready to compete with the online console experience. I have played my XBOX online with XBConnect, and found it A: Easy to do and B: Great fun. There is no easy way for the PS2 to go online easily without a lot of cash to make it possible - a HDD is needed as well as a way to connect it online. Easily would be double or triple the cost of XBOX Live software and hardware to compete against it.......

Do you really think that XBOX Live won't be the deal breaker for many families, especially those that already have a PC and a cheap cable/DSL connection, when comparing it to the PS2?

Online gaming took the PC world by storm, do not expect the console market to be immune to it.

Just a "little" correction: Knights of the Old Republic will be hitting PC and X-Box, NOT GameCube.

well the PS3 already had a demo showing of DW3 but I don't think that means anything about coming out too early...I feel like listing the games I will definitely want in just September and October...

Armored Core 3, Hitman 2, Kengo 2, NHL 2003, Onimusha 3, Prisoner of War, Sly Cooper and the Thievius Raccoonus, Tekken 4, Turok:Evolution, Auto Modellista, GTA: Vice City, Gundam Federation vs. Zeon, Kingdom Hearts, Legend of Legaia, Red Faction II...and those are the ones I will definitely get even if I have to buy them in a period of only two months. I would have twice as many listed if I wanted to say what games I would rent, but I don't think anyone cares anyway so I won't post anything else, just trying to to point out how much is coming out in just the first half of the fall lineup, even if a third of them are going to Gamecube or XBOX, they won't sell as much...

  • 11 months later...

I've got a Gamecube, and it's loads of fun. However, the PS2 is fun as well. (I've played it at a friend's house) Though the Xbox has some good games, I can never get used to its controller. My advice: look at the games for each console, find out which one has the most games you like, and get that one.

Of course, Rogue Squadron III will be released only for Gamecube, and that game will absolutely rock.;)

Personally I would choose GameCube, because there's going to be a lot of good games coming from LEC like The Clone Wars, Bounty Hunter, RTX Red Rock, Gladius and there's already Rogue Squadron II which alone would justifice buying this console. Of course all these games(except RSII) are also going to be available for PS2 AND you can watch DVD videos with it unlike in the case of GameCube; I already have DVD player, so that's not important part to me and besides, it has much better image quality.

Then again, X-Box has Gladius, Emperor's Tomb(next Indy game, also available for PS2), Star Wars: Galaxies(also available for PS2), Knights of the Old Republic, Jedi Starfighter(also available for PS2), Halo and of course, you can watch DVD videos with it.

All in all, you could think that PS2 is your best bet, but I'd go for quality over quantity and because PS2 is the oldest of the pack and can't do all the latest effects like GameCube and X-Box, why don't you make your choice between these two? ;)

i'd pick GC for sure, as it has a lot of powerful franchises, the GBA link and the RS games (rogue squadron III is GC only)

erm... not really, the xbox will probably die out since they're bring out xbox 2 before 2006 and ps2 will last long, i mean look at the ps1 it lasted for ages and it ws brought out in 96, soem people still use them.

well, that's the stupidest post ever, since gamecube 2 and ps3 are coming out in 2005, and by the way, if you know much about playstation, you'd know ps1 was brought out in 1994
