LiMP RABBiT Posted November 2, 2002 Posted November 2, 2002 Even now, months after the previews at E3, people are still debating Zelda's new cell shaded look. I think its great. If you look at the flop of Majora's mask we can see that if Nintendo hadn't changed the style of the game, people would be disenchanted.
LiMP RABBiT Posted November 2, 2002 Author Posted November 2, 2002 Not disagreeing with you. I loved it. But in comparison to Orcarina of Time, it hardly sold.
Taos Posted November 3, 2002 Posted November 3, 2002 I think they definitely needed to change the game for this one. I just don't think ppl enjoyed the way it was played as much as the previous ones.....myself included. I found it frustrating at times dealing with only three days. Now the concept is very unique and interesting to say the least......I just didn't find it as fun as some of the previous ones.
Darth Homer Posted November 7, 2002 Posted November 7, 2002 personally, I don't get the whole cel-shaded thing....Jet Set Radio (both of em) sucked, IMO...they have some of the worst attempts at music ever...on the other hand, Cel Damage guarantees minutes of fun....after that it becomes rather repetitive...I know i'm in the minority on this, so please...be gentle...
Lynk Former Posted November 7, 2002 Posted November 7, 2002 Ocarina of Time was one of my most favourite games on the N64. I liked how much realism was put into it yet it kept that partly anime feel to it. I like mix of both good realism in a game and the clean anime feel that Ocarina of Time and Majora's Mask had. I like Ocarina of Time more than Majora's Mask because OoT had Adult Link who is a champion ... but anywayz... a lot of people would disagree with me because young Link who was in the first Zelda game is the 'true' Link. Eventhough this is true I still prefer adult Link... now with the issue of the cell shading. Well when I first saw it I was TOTALLY against what they had done it... but the thing is... it's not that different from Ocarina of Time and Majora's Mask if you think about it. It's just moved from less realistic to more anime. So as long as the game is fun, i'm happy with the new Zelda game.
LiMP RABBiT Posted November 7, 2002 Author Posted November 7, 2002 On the adult link subject I must say the only reason he was better (in my opinion) was his ability to use the bow and ride Epona. On the subject of Epona, she better be in the new version or someone will have to pay...

I like Adult Link cause he can use the Master Sword which is one hell of a good lookin weapon Plus on another note, in Smash Bros. Melee I find adult Link to be better than young Link. I know he's slower than young Link but adult Link has more reach and power which is what i'm used to.
LiMP RABBiT Posted November 8, 2002 Author Posted November 8, 2002 Yeah i forgot about the lovely master sword. Anyhoo, my fav character on SSBM is Marth. He's sooo quick and sooo cool. PS. sorry for leaving the subject completely.
darthfergie Posted November 9, 2002 Posted November 9, 2002 I saw the orginal demo of the game...I was awestruck...then I find out that they are not ONLY using cel shaded graphic, but they are ALSO making it KID LINK! NOOOOO!!! I HATED PLAYING AS KID LINK ON THE 64!

Young Link was great (minus no bow and master sword but as im sure many of us have seen, young link does have a bow in this new episode.)

LiMP RABBiT Posted November 10, 2002 Author Posted November 10, 2002 I loved playing as kid link. Adult link just wasn't as original or something. It may just be that kid links world was so nice and happy and adults links was all dreary and deppressing.
Taos Posted November 11, 2002 Posted November 11, 2002 Hey Rabbit, man I think your point is very valid. Young Link certainly does have a little bit of innocence to him.......doesn't he?? I just prefered playing him as an adult that's all.

In Ocarina of Time the only thing Link could handle was the lil Kokiri sword and slingshot and boomarang, etc... however in Majora's Mask, Link is able to ride epona and is able to use a bow and is able to carry heavier items such as the slingshot and the sword upgrades... Plus I've seen the new Zelda's trailer i've noticed that Link is carring a huge sword... Link is aging... ever so slowly... >.<
LiMP RABBiT Posted November 12, 2002 Author Posted November 12, 2002 Ahhhhhh. The trailer. Never has such beauty ever been seen before. And I know what you meen about the sword. When he takes an enemies big mutha of a sword, sheesh, its about twice his size.
Surfnshannon Posted November 13, 2002 Posted November 13, 2002 i saw some screen shots they look pretty good... Zelda GC Screen Shots
darthfergie Posted November 13, 2002 Posted November 13, 2002 Yeah that's another prob I have. Why make it cell shaded when on SSBM he looked like N64 version. (BTW, Link rocks on SSBM. I am invincible with him and I don't even own a G-Cube!)
mercatfat Posted November 14, 2002 Posted November 14, 2002 Please spell it correctly. 'Cel Shading' has one 'l', as in the term 'animation cel' or the game 'Cel Damage'. Cell shading makes it sound like a prison. It looks just like Link in the old NES instruction manuals, or SNES Link brought into 3d. That's freaking awesome.

LiMP RABBiT Posted November 14, 2002 Author Posted November 14, 2002 I tought that in the manual Link was drawn in a sort of anime stile, oh well, it may just be me.

Lynk Former Posted November 16, 2002 Posted November 16, 2002 @ mercatfat Anywayz... for people who didn't know. I've heard that in Japan when you pre-order a copy of the new Zelda game you recieve a GCN disc with Ocarina of Time and Ura Zelda (the expansion for Ocarina of Time for the 64DD) on it... but it's japan only... i don't think it'll make it to the US or Australia >.<
Boba Rhett Posted November 16, 2002 Posted November 16, 2002 Wait, I thought that it wasn't even confirmed that it'd be coming to Japan yet.
