I might not be posting as many updates as I normally do this week - I'm gonna be pretty busy with work... I'll try and get some work done on it though. Might try to texture the neck and hair. I know nothing of the proccess of making a model, but is there a way to make the pouches, and some of the other fabrics yet to be done, have a gloss or polish? I'm going to add some shaders to give them that patent leather shine... Oh, as far as Anakin's clothes, they will come in two variants for his basic costume - one as you see there, and one with darker robes. [/Jake Lloyd] That'd be great - and considering the quality of your last sound pack, this one should be awesome! Toonces, I've been thinking about the animations - I think that if you decrease the weight of the bones on the forearms by about 50-75% and increase the weights in the hands themselves by around 50% it should make the arms animate better - let the hands do the work for the forearms, and just use the bone in the forearm to help the mesh deform. Might also help to keep his hands on his lightsaber too. It's been a few years since I've done any animating, so I could be wrong, but if I remember correctly that might solve the problem and give the sleeves a bit of bounce as well. You might also want to increase the weights on his collarbone - I've noticed some odd deformation in the shoulder area... Just wanted to throw the ideas out there and see what you think. As far as release date, I might have to push it back another week. My schedule has gotten pretty hectic, so I haven't had as much time to work on the model as I'd like. Weapon X Posted September 2, 2002 Share Posted September 2, 2002 i get my instant internet access through the school my dad works at but with this beautiful connection i also get something else that they have, their filter, which means i can't look at geocities sites/ANY web pages made for free, they even tried to block hotmail and sites like amazon.com and ebworld.com(which lasted for 5 hours i might add but the others have been on for a couple of days), basically what i'm saying is, can someone post a pic of it from every other update so i too can see the progress? Toonces Posted September 2, 2002 Share Posted September 2, 2002 I didnt notice a problem in the neck/shoulder area, but I'll go back and take a look, as for the arms, they definatly need some tweaks, the elbow area bunches up in a funny way, but that shouldnt be a problem, I just have to toy around with it a bit. -Tercero- Posted September 2, 2002 Author Share Posted September 2, 2002 Toonces, I'm still in the process of mapping him right now - I can send you what I have done so far, but I'm still rebuilding some sections of the model to animate better, so it still wouldn't be the finished product. If you want to try weighting it with the changes thus far, though, I'd be happy to send you the file. I still need to rebuild the arms right now, which is part of the reason they're not rebuilt yet - I'm adding my own hands (those are Raven's on there right now) to decrease the polycount and I'm adding a few polys in the elbows to make it animate better. Taking that into consideration, it might be better to wait until I have that done... If you want the current incarnation anyways, though just tell me and I'll send it to you. Great eyes! I also see you did a little re-touch on the braid.
