Well, the poll isn't really necessary, because I think we've cleared it up.

I now think it was indeed Morgan.

1) He is a spirit in JO.

2) Kyle carves a statue of Morgan in the Valley of the Jedi and says, "Thank you, Father." at the end of JK. For what? Well, probably the powers he just got.

I still think midichlorians had a part.... Those little tampering beasts raping women all for the will of the Force.

He had the power from his family (or not).

The fact he was self trained is that he learned to wield the powers and defeat 7 Dark Jedi. AU in the game contradicts that, since Kyle never really learned anything and becomes a darklord.

there is your answer, he was the first in his family, sorf of like anakin.

That doesn't go with first in family, that goes with the midichlorians. He was concieved by midichlorians. Those things have a habit of fulfilling prophecies by impregnating women, singl or not, to produce Jedi to fulfill ancient prophecies...

he found a lightsaber that was barely working and pretended a lot...and then somehow between dark forces and dark forces 2: jedi knight he got some kind of enhancement to allow him to actually use the force:p

Umm...

Toughie...

Morgan did indeed visit Kyle as a Force apparition...

I am thinking that Morgan was fully aware of his powers, and therefore that of his sons.

Rahn was friend of Morgan through a respect for s friend's decision to not exploit his powers.

After all, we are talking barely into EU (post ROTJ) for events in JK.

Perhaps Morgan was afraid what would befall himself and son if he and Kyle tried to train and use these abilities, as as such keeps them hidden.

Rahn sensed the power with in Morgan, and tried to persuade him. He was rebuffed each time, but respected his decision and reasons for it.

As such, they saty in touch, good friends, but Rahn gives a saber to Morgan just in case.

Kyle then learns his heritage, one kept hidden from him for his own safety (much like Luke's was kept from him for his safety.)

Sounds feasible...

morgan's ghost confronts kyle in the valley of the jedi when kyle goes there to 'power up' on the force after jan is killed

Remember: pre-Dark Forces, Kyle went to the Imperial Academy where he was an exemplary officer cadet. Morgan may have had rebel leanings, but he wanted the best, and no trouble, for Kyle.

I agree that most of this is post-release rationalization, but it can work: Morgan was force sensitive, as Rahn realized, which explains how he ends up in the force for Kyle on Russann. Kyle inherits that, as he had started to see that 'larger world' in the DF books anyway.

Yeah it is. After the Artus levels, there is a cutscene showing it!

A cutscene is not in-game. In-game is when you yourself are actually playing the game.

Thats why there are always arguments, one person may say "look at the graphics in this game", and the other person says "but thats not in-game, its a cutscene". Cutscenes even if they use the in-game engine are always rendered with more polygons etc.

Morgan was not a jedi, the fact that he was an aparation was raven/activision being morons and not playing the first game.

also in the expaned universe there are plenty of jedi whos parents weren't force sensitive =P

I try not to think about it too much ... but the whole 'Power of the Valley' thing bugs me ...

Obviously Morgan is not a Jedi, though the books allude to him having latent Force abilities. But he didn't die in the Valley, and we now have the issue of Jedi dying and NOT disappearing (you can't fault LucasArts for DF and JK1 ... but by JKII they should have known better). And the whole ending of JK1 was about releasing the spirits of the Jedi killed in the Valley - shouldn't that have dissipated most of the power? Maybe leaving it like the Cave on Dagobah ... ?

Interesting thought, however my position on it is simply that Raven did not know what they were doing.

there is an interview on jediknightii.net where someone from raven says that morgan was definitely a jedi.

my point was simply that it doesnt matter where they came from, I dont remember many of the Kotor jedi having parents that were jedi, or mara jades or kyps parents ever being mentioned. People simply are force sensitive or they arent in the sw universe =P thats good enough for me...

Where'd this come from?!

Pay2Spam???

Yeah, but Jedi's children usually have the Force. And there are those allusions to Morgan in the books. And Kyle carves a statue of him at the end of JK1 in a Valley to Honor Jedi (well, sorta).
