Rogue15 Posted January 18, 2003 Posted January 18, 2003 Xbox Gamecube PS2 I really think the xbox is the best, cause of Xbox LIVE and the hard drive.
RoguePhotonic Posted January 18, 2003 Posted January 18, 2003 No real way to say because it's all about the games.....
Arreat Posted January 18, 2003 Posted January 18, 2003 Xbox - Halo or SplinterCell Playstation2 - Either MGS2 or FFX Gamecube - ??? ( no offense but personally i think GC sux) Overall i think PS2 is best
C Shutt Posted January 18, 2003 Posted January 18, 2003 There isn't an absolute best. It's the games that matter, and there are great ones on all three systems.
BCanr2d2 Posted January 18, 2003 Posted January 18, 2003 It isn't only about the games, it is also about timing of getting into the market as well. PS2 didn't really start to hit its straps until the second generation of games for it came out. XBOX will be the same, once developers realise that it is a different proposition to program for than they are used to, the games will increase in quality to use the superior hardware that it has. Some are still stuck in the "old style console" programming, where they fail to take advantage of the HDD, along with the better graphics card on offer. I think the PS2 and GC are the last that we will see without an inbuilt HDD, due to the advantages it offers to a console. If console success was pure power, then the DC would've wiped the PS2, but it isn't. The PS2 still sells plenty, but mainly living on the hype that the average Joe sees, the cheap games are it's best selling point to them. It is the hardcore gamer that has jumped onto the XBOX, looking at the raw data and seeing it as the superior machine. Graphically it delivers better results, it is up to the programmers to create the gameplay......

In terms of market success, sure. But when talking about which system is better, the most successful system isn't necessarily the best. It is the hardcore gamer that has jumped onto the XBOX, looking at the raw data and seeing it as the superior machine. I don't think "hardcore gamers" give a rat's ass about technical specs. In my experience, the bulk of the X-Box audience seems to be casual gamers ie. people who never owned a system before the PlayStation, and are impressed by things like how many polygons a system can push.
Kylilin Posted January 18, 2003 Posted January 18, 2003 the original Nintendo Entertainment system...
C Shutt Posted January 18, 2003 Posted January 18, 2003 A fine choice, but the Super NES was the greatest system of all time.
Darth Simpson Posted January 18, 2003 Posted January 18, 2003 Technically, the Xbox. Otherwise, it depends on you, and what you want out of your system.
Acrylic Posted January 18, 2003 Posted January 18, 2003 I think PS2 is the best, because of the games. The graphics arent the best, but the games are unmatchable and the best, no doubt.
Katarn07 Posted January 18, 2003 Posted January 18, 2003 Atari 2600. That was the only gaming counsel I have ever had in my life... And it broke when I was really young. I played Pac-Man, Pitfall Harry (the best Atari game made!), Asteroids, Pong, and a few more. I liked it so much, I got myself a CD with games from Atari made by Activision. The best on that are Pitfall, River Raid I & II, H.E.R.O., and one with a Bi-Plane and barns. I really want a PS2 for Bounty Hunter and Vice City, though... I don't have enough money and my mom won't get us one

O and back when i had MK1 i remember bashing buttons just to try to beat my bro at the little Test your might contests... I can't remember a thing when i had Super NES.
Katarn07 Posted January 18, 2003 Posted January 18, 2003 I remember playing Super Mario Allstars and the one with Yoshi at my friends house. Then we moved onto Mario 64. I was really mad at him because he would never let me play Shadows. At the time, I had not SW games.... But when I got Dark Forces, I realized that PC was much better.
Nerd_Annhilator Posted January 18, 2003 Posted January 18, 2003 i think the best system would be ps2 or gamecube i have gamecube and i am getting LOTR:TTT for it today. and i really want a ps2 they have a lot of great games. Dynasty warriors is soooooo good!
WolfmanNCSU Posted January 18, 2003 Posted January 18, 2003 There is no answer to this question, no matter who you ask or where you look. You just have to get the one that suits you best. That is the best advice I can give ya. I recently purchased a game console about 2-3 months ago. It was the first console I have had since the Atari 2600 and my NES. I looked at the hardware, both physical and specs and liked the XBox over the rest. Then I checked out the game titles (both already out and soon to come) and really liked what I saw with the XBox so that is what I got. Its my personal choice that XBox is best because it best suits my console gaming needs.

Personally, there are very few games on the PS2 that I enjoy and with the X-Box, I already have 8 games for it and I have only had it for 2 months. (that is alot for me). It is entirely based on opinion and nothing else. You can never prove that your system is the best.
El Sitherino Posted January 18, 2003 Posted January 18, 2003 commodore64:D. but for new ones. ill go with ps2.
Guest Jed Posted January 18, 2003 Posted January 18, 2003 I don't know which one is best, but I sure do know what I have. Gamecube Don't stone me! PLEASE!
Altus_Thrawn Posted January 18, 2003 Posted January 18, 2003 They all have there pros and cons. PS2 pros: small controler, pretty good games cons: wierd controler, memory card needed GC pros: made by nintendo, good sized controler, good games cons: needs memory card, doesn't have halo XBox: pros: xbox live, halo, good games cons: bix controler, no super smash bros melee overall probably xbox
ShadowTemplar Posted January 19, 2003 Posted January 19, 2003 The best game console? The PC, of course. Seriously. In my experience consoles have bad controls and the competition on the games-development isn't tough enough: Once you've bought the console, you're stuck with it. So the competition is on the consoles, not the quality of the games beyond the first few, IMO...
XERXES Posted January 19, 2003 Posted January 19, 2003 i hate them all, the controllers are too damn big, there are too many damn buttons to play efficently. SNES = best console ever. and wolfman is right, there cant be an absolute "best" its not possible.
Matt-Liell Posted January 19, 2003 Posted January 19, 2003 As others have said it's the games that matter, Gamecube has done ok for me! Lord of the Rings The Two Towers, Jedi Knight II: Jedi Outcast, Star Wars Rouge Suadron II: Rougue Leader, Clone Wars, Spider-Man it's pretty good!
XERXES Posted January 19, 2003 Posted January 19, 2003 many of the games coming out nowadays are unullfilling and boring and easy and short and just playin retarted:(
