XIII(from the mkrs of Splinter Cell)

Hannibal

Recommended Posts

The new Official Xbox Mag had a great preview article about this game. It's done with CEL Shading.

IMO CEL shading is terrible, but this game may change my mind.

It actually looks like a comic book. I'll get my scanner working so you can see what I mean.

Best of all, it's made by the guys who made Splinter Cell.

It looks amazing!!!

hmm, made by the makers of splinter cell could be a very good thing. if only i knew what that game XIII is and what cell shading is ;)

I get these turned around myself at times....I think the new Legend Of Zelda game is done with cel shading - that makes it look very cartoon like.

The image captions read...

You wake up on a desolate beach with a bullet hole in your head and a tattoo of XIII on your chest...and your memory erased. In your pocket is a key to a New York City bank box. Before you get you bearings a team of assassins attacks preparing to finish the job. To your shock, you handle the hitmen with the killing sklls of a professional. So who the hell are you? Off to NY, where you discover that your key unlocks a safety deposit box containing a dossier on your identity. You also learn that you might have been invloved in an assassination of the Pres of the United State.

This sounds a lot like that Matt Damon movie. Pages 44-46 suppose to be released in Q4 2003. It says Publisher and Developer UBI Soft. I'll scan it tomorrow after work.

Cell Shading and a FPS in the same game?

This could be a very interesting game. The cell chading in Jet Set Radio Future was good, but I hated the game so I guess I'll just have to check this one out for myself.

And if it is by the guys who made Splinter Cell than it can't be that bad. :)

Hey, you never know about cel-shading.

I've been playing Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker, and I don't give a flip about what anyone says, it's a great game.

This looks like it's worth a shot too. :)

You bet, Jedi Apprentice. My review for the new Zelda will be up probably late this weekend, along with a review for Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six 3: Raven Shield. ;)

I like JSRF, but I agree with you Com, I certainly don't want to see Cell shading become a trend. One or two games and that's it. There is even a car racing game being done with it now, I can't remember the name of it. It has cartoon like swoosh lines to give you the effect of speed like a comic book.

And what I hate even more is the trend where just about every japanese, and also a few western devs think that every game has to be done cel-shaded now...

I have read alittle about Cell-Shading, but I don't like the idea of it really.... I hope it doesn't at least come to the PC. :p

Yeah, I know that to be true, but it kind of made me wonder... Graphics isn't the most important. Gameplay is, but yeah..
