J.K Luke
Out of boredom I went to check SWG FAQ and found this point to be rather interesting: Player Jedi Masters may come up with their own requirements for whether they choose to apprentice. Jedi Master may choose his apprentice to train him up, which later the apprentices may find other apprentices and train them up when they reach Jedi Knighthood or Master, so on... So, the question is how will the first Jedi attain the Master status without guidance of another Master as I understand that there's no Jedi trials at release? Or would Jedi NPCs(eq. Yoda) be able to guide him/her?
Bzrk
AND, how does he/she find his/her apprentice? Or can Jedi Apprentices just sign up somewhere?
Jackrabbit
Finally you've found what I've been looking for. My friend kept telling me that people could take in apprentices, but I never found it. He also told me that the first people to become Jedi can go to GM Jedi, and after they get trained, the GM Jedi leave the game, and the player takes over for them. I still don't know where he got that from...
setsuko
We can't be sure that there is an actual ingame mechanic for this, either. It can be totally based on roleplaying, i.e., the apprentice is an apprentice because he says so, and the training is basically he tagging along with the master. Jackrabbit
That's a very good point and possiblity Set.
Dr. Zaius
"There is always two, a master and a apprentice, no more, no less." Ok, yeah there probally is a way that the devs figure that the first few jedi can attain the status of jedi master or knight, with out having an apprentice, but remember, the jedi population is going to be so small, that anyone who gets to be a jedi will probally go ask the devs for help on finding a master. Just a thought.
setsuko
After all, at the time of SWG, the apprentice and master system is not working in the same way as it does in the old republic days. Remember, Luke never had to tag along and follow a master for long. They were either conveniently turned into blue glowies or left on swamp planets. UnfrozenCaveman
"There is always two, a master and a apprentice, no more, no less." That only involves the Sith though. I think the first Jedi master will be a GM, or possibly an NPC that'll just give you some great mission to accomplish along with some other things and bam you're a Jedi Master. I bet also that it'll be like an Epic quest- obtaining the title Jedi Master.
sexxxy_mark
but if there are only two sith at a time, what about the emperor and darth vader? or is it just broken up in pairs.
setsuko
There will be no player sith lords in the game. Sith Lords are restricted to two in the entire galaxy at the same time. One master, one apprentice. And both seats are taken (Palpatine being the master, Vader the apprentice). Jedi, however, are not restricted to one pair. J.K Luke
it would be interesting how the first jedi gonna be roleplayed, I have a feeling that Yoda might be the one who can train him/her... off topic: what about Darth Sidious? He's a Sith Lord isn't he and I think he didn't die too... Use edit button! Thank you! - Jan

But yoda himself wouldn't train you.
swphreak
Senator/Chancellor Palpatine = Sidious = Emperor Palpatine Anakin = Vader oops, ever knows that I think the first Jedi(s) will be randomly picked. and then they'll train who they want, and the process moves from there. SeanBlader
How about, what do you do to actually find out you ARE a Jedi? I mean at the beginning of episode 6 Luke thought he was a Jedi but Yoda said he wasn't. So... You'll have force sensitivity and force powers, but when do you truely know if you're a Jedi? J.K Luke
the devs have been tight lipped as far as Jedi proffesion's concern. I guess they want us to find out ourselves once our FS slot are unlocked...

Even though Darth Maul died, Darth sidous can wait for the next lord. Since there is only a limit of 2 lords, it doesn't mean there can't be only 1 Sith lord at a time. swphreak
and there's the great jedi Master himself I believe the quote was: "Always 2 there are, no more, no less." That is off the top of my head, so I may have made a small eroor, so sue me. Please point to me where it said, "There has to be 2." I do not rember Yoda saying that. Darth Bane created that rule so the Sith would not wipe themselves out fighting over planets, ect. I am sure there could be 1 Sith Lord if that Sith Lord so desired to be by himself and if he was powerful enough. Besides, you do remember that old guy who got owned by Yoda right? Count Dooku I believe his name was.

Jan Gaarni
Indeed, phreak. Yoda never stated that there can only be 2 Sith Lords, no more, no less, merely sayd that there always were 2. Darth Bane is the one that said that there only could be no more than 2 Lords at the time, but he never said that there couldn't be less than 2 at the time. And inbetween the death of the Master, or in the case of the prequel times, the death of the apprentice, it is bound to be just one left for a short time. J.K Luke
Originally posted by setsuko Ahem. Not so sure about that. After all, in a recent interview, Q said something like "yes, eventually people will find out what unlocks the force sensitive slot. But until then, we want them guessing!" Random factor may still kick in in order to make it more difficult. I believe that the devs wouldn't wanna create formula for unlocking fs slot as it would be exploited once ppl know the formula. Nevertheless, I think it's only right to say that profession, our behavior in the game, could factor into unlocking the fs slot.
