Finest Blues Guitar

Yeah, for sure. Clapton is my favorite, but skill wise, I think it's a near tie between SRV and Hendrix, though nobody really remembers Jimi's blues. Albert Collins comes a close second in my favorites list, he's a funk/blues guitarist. Three Kings are good too. I also like the not-quite-as-good/not-quite-as-well-known guys like Lefty Dizz, Lowell Fulson, and Hubert Sumlin.

-PS- I'm actually quite surprised this thread got so many replies; good to see that people still give a damn about the blues. Thanks for the feedback!

I used to listen to a lot of blues when I was first learning the guitar. I actually went all the way back to Robert Johnson and listened to just about everybody that could be called a blues player in roughly chonological order up to present day.

These days I tend to prefer players that blur the lines between styles rather than someone who plays authentically in only one style. Except for the guys I mentioned above I don't listen to much blues guitar except for those times when it comes up at work.

I'm listening to more jazz, fusion, and progressive rock these days.

Yeah, I've started into Jazz just recently. I can't stand most rock, though, too many Five's and rip off blues licks for my taste. I'd be willing to try anything you folks could recommend though. No punk, though, I can't tolerate it.

I've started playing funk just recently (I'm not very good yet), but my Wah pedel got busted .
