Homoludens Posted June 30, 2003 Posted June 30, 2003 Katharine Hepburn: 1907 - 2003 Katharine Hepburn, the actress whose independent life and strong-willed movie characters made her a role model for generations of women and a beloved heroine to filmgoers for more than 60 years, died today at her home in the Fenwick section of Old Saybrook, Conn. She was 96 and also had a home in Manhattan. The New York Times (free registration) I've always been mad about her, and always will be. \o/
MeddlingMonk Posted June 30, 2003 Posted June 30, 2003 My homepage is basically a long list of headlines. It's a nice punch in the kidneys to get online and see this sort of thing.
Kingzjester Posted June 30, 2003 Posted June 30, 2003 Well, here's some happy news to dull the pain: Strom Thurmond died too.
Novel_T Posted June 30, 2003 Posted June 30, 2003 I just saw this on CNN - think I'll go put on "The African Queen" in commemoration.
deadworm222 Posted June 30, 2003 Posted June 30, 2003 My mother always claims I look like Hepburn... *sigh*
DomStLeger Posted June 30, 2003 Posted June 30, 2003 Good actress. But she's had a very long life (96!) and according to imdb she was still working as late as 1994 (aged 87!). So instead of feeling sad about this, lets celebrate her career. For me her best film has to be The African Queen, absolutely fantastic film; very funny and diservedly regarded as a classic of cinema.
twifkak Posted June 30, 2003 Posted June 30, 2003 Thanks for the link, Trep. As a relatively uncultured child, I've never seen anything Hepburn. But just the few photos and 3-second clips I've seen have been enough to communicate her charm, power, etc. I'm renting The Amazon Queen this week.

pleto4_ryan Posted July 1, 2003 Posted July 1, 2003 Hope she will play for eternity in the cinema and theater of paradise (and may we all reach her age )
