I am sure 1st amendments advocates

are going to give them a run for their money on this.

i mean if they are going to ban comics

then video games, music movies and MTV

have to come next.

anyhow its unfortunate for all those normal kids

who just want to be kids growing up there now.

There really isn't too much that advocates can do about this. It's the government. If they wanted to, they (WARNING! UPCOMING CONSPIRACY THEORY!) could easily silence anyone that went against their wishes. All they'd really need to find is some Superior Court judge whos thinks these goddamn things through, like they should've done in the first place, to overturn this crap.

This is absolutely, incredibly ludicrous.

However, certain people should note that these books aren't being banned, just restricted from minor's reach. Which is ridiculous, but not exactly what you're making it out to be...

This kinda makes me glad California's so outrageously liberal. The above would never happen in this state ;)

I won't be surprised if the Supreme Court finds the new law unconstitutional for many reasons. A) most comic books have been around before those who enacted the law were even out of their mom's womb, and most of them probably read comic book themselves, hence the dilemma. Also, think about censorship and what it would be doing if restricting a simple thing like reading a comic book. Home of the free.. Indeed. *motions some obscene gestures with right hand only*. But then again, look at the state that enacted the law.

There really is no "freedom of speach" thing here... They're just saying kids under 18 can't buy them... Not like teenages really have much in the way of rights anyway...

The thing that gets to me is I'm sick of the State always trying to play mommy and daddy. All the bull that's going on in the schools and other public places suggests that the government has absolutely no faith in the adults of present America to raise the next generation.

Interestingly enough, the group of adults that the government doesn't trust.. was the group that elected the government... Maybe it's just a cry for help from the completely INANE Dubya (as well as the rest of the asinine Fedral and State officials...).

It's all foolish... Just because I'm under an age (when age doesn't necessarily play a role in the amount of widsom, intellegence, and charisma in you -- it's actually your 3d6 roll when you're making your character) and I enjoy some naked girls and a few explosions here and there means I'm going to "grow up", worship Satan, and go postal and shoot a baker's dozen of people.

You know what they say. Outlaw manga and only outlaws will read manga.. or something like that (feh I'm tired. :))

I'm sure theres a perfectly legitimate reason for doing this. Maybe the state is running low on its budget. I know Texas is, so maybe Arkansas is like by osmosis. What better to generate revenue than by outlawing popular items and imposing fines for selling them!

You know what else is really popular and could make the state alot of money? ICE CREAM. Yeah. Outlaw neopolitan (it sounds French, right?) and all parts that make up neopolitan. Charge a hefty dose for selling this devious substance that's corrupting the townspeople. BOOM! Money in the bank, baby!

CHA

...

CHING!

Man I should so run for governor...
