Darth Eggplant
okay I have heard said in rumour that Arnold Schawtzenagger? (sorry never could spell his last name) anyhow Arnie is thinking of running for Govenor in California. what I want to know is do you think the current Amercian Constitution needs an amendment to it. because as I understand it, any american citizen 'NOT' born in america can never be president of the untied states. I think this is wrong. theoretically all people from all foreign lands came to amercia from somewhere else, pulling the old several generations Mayflower routine is out dated, adiquated and so PC politically incorrect. I mean Ronald Regan was a two term president and clint eastwood and sonny bono also were in politics. so if Arnold wishes to become so involved I feel he should have as much opportunity as the next american to achieve this position. I mean our current goveror general in canada is a lady named adrian clarkson and she is of asian origin and she moved hear or her family did so she is of immigrany heritage and she has this high government positon. further more if she wants to become prime minister of canada I do not think there is anyhting stopping her. so i want to know what you yanks think? i mean it is your country what do you think? remember leXX is your mod and she is a woman and a Brit, yet she has status in the lucas forums community. If leXX came to america and ran for prez with the Groovster as her VeeP would you vote for her? so do you want the Terminator to be your country's president? I vote yes Arnold or any Amercian should as an Amercian have the right to become President of the USA your countries principles must apply all for one or else none for all. Agen
It is unfair that you can't vote for someone born outside of america... Should be changed imo. What if he has the best ideas and plan compared to the rest?

<JOTD>Jedi Hunter
It's not that, it's a security issue. What if a spy became a citizen? Then ran for president. (in the unlikely situation) then he became president. Relaying information to his home country about our hidden bases and where to find nuclear missles etc. It's all a matter of security. I feel that what we have now is right. Must be born here to be president.

obi
I think anyone should be able to run (if the are a citizen in the US). It really doesn't matter if you have a degree in college anyway, because the people decide by voting on who they want to begin with. *shrugs*

It doesn't work in Iraq, I doubt it would work here or anywhere else, but I dunno...

RoguePhotonic
There isn't that many details for it...just stuff like have to be at least 35...and have lived in the U.S. for at least 15 years...

BigTeddyPaul
Sorry I feel only an American born person should be President. Nothing says you cannot be a senator or anything. Sorry just the way I feel. I also live in California and I for one will vote for Arnold if he runs as opposed to the CRAPPY DAVIS. He has ttally ruined our government here and we need a change. I wish he would have gone this time but those stupid Republicans chose some jack ass named Simon to run against him. Simon was just as worse or if not as worse career wise. Redwing
California's last election kinda sucked. =/ What the fudge is up with Davis? What a time to make enormous budget cuts in education...(and gee, what a great way to alienate everyone, even those in your own party) On topic: Yes, but I think there should be a stipulation that you have to live here for a certain number of years before you can become President. But if you're not born here, why should anyone care? I mean, c'mon. It's America we're talking about. Home of, just about freaking everyone. ^_~

BCanr2d2
Look at the quality of President you currently have, a hick country farm boy from Texas, who don't know diddly squat. I'd hate to see his IQ..... Anyway, back on topic, imagine his re-election campaign, it's already written "I'll be back", it's pure genius. I can understand the reason for the non-US born not getting a chance to be president, but does that really stop those that are born in the US from being the crackpot who turned to the opposition.... Anyway, I think those times are over, and is discriminating against legitimate presidential candidates. If they are a US citizen, and have the party support, along with the campaign funds to run, give them a go...
Darth Eggplant
every one is entitled to their own opinion, and as a non american i am only spouting so much sophistry, but as Darth Groovy said, I weep for the future too. some hold the opinion, that you can come to america, apply for citizenship, apply for a gun reg and NRA membership, pay taxes, vote in elections, and yet be down trodden upon because you are not really an american. such sad misfortunate hypocracy. If Darth Grrovy moved to canada got his citizenship, then yes if the people voted for you, and you wanted you could become VP. We have a canadian woman as senetor or governor of Michigan right now. putting aside current state of affairs you can not judge any foreigner as a terrorist. Arnold came to america a long time ago, renounced his Austrian citizenship to become a proud american, he even served on a government commitee for health or something under one of your past presidents. and yet after X number of years as an american some say sorry Arnie you aint never going to be one of us. I never realized so many of you had such proud plymith rock ancestry that went back to the mayflower. I guess also all those cold and huddled masses that came after dont count. anyhow, all I know is that in Canada if you become a canadian citizen we allow you as a canadian citizen to go as far as you are able. BawBag™
Bah! Politics. Don't care for it much. I'm not American, so I don't know (or care - no offense) about presidency. But maybe I'll vote in this country again if they destroy the parliament building and give me my money back......
