coupes.
I prefer Dreamweaver to Frontpage. Dreamweaver is pretty easy to use if you want to make a simple website. If you want a more complex website Dreamweaver will basically only make things faster for you because you'd have to know HTML and Javascript. Samuel Dravis
Yeah, I have Dreamweaver 4 and it is very easy to use. It also includes a FTP thingie to upload your pages/images to your host. But, I like to use notepad to write my pages structure etc and then open it up in dreamweaver to clean it up/align everything up nice. Also, you can learn a scripting language (I know VBScript) and you can add a bunch of interactive stuff to your page with that. If you don't want to learn one, just search google for 'free scripts' or something like that.
The_One
Macromedia HomeSite My tool of choice. Any website you've seen that's been made by me was designed on HomeSite - it's a great program. You should be able to get a good trial package. But Notepad is definitely the best free one out there - just keep Notepad and IE open simultaneously and you have yourself a great web editing set up
BCanr2d2
Check on places like CNET.com or Tucows, and you can look for the web development tools, then refine the search by selecting the licence type as free..

Expensive, but the best Macromedia Flash MX Macromedia Dreamweaver MX Macromedia Freehand MX Macromedia Fireworks MX Macromedia Cold Fusion Server Macromedia Extension Manager I have all of these. And I can say that they are the best programs i have ever used. Now if you want to just make a plain and simple website you can either learn HTML and use notepad, or any other web making program you have. You can but a web making program such as Microsofts FrontPage series. Which is very good, and easy. Or you can cheat and use Microsoft Publisher if you have it and and use the the custom template tool to custom make your website. In about 5 minutes. I hope my advice helps:)
Samuel Dravis
Hey FT, how much did you get the MX stuff for? Another interesting thing with Dreamweaver is that you can make Javascript animations with images. That's pretty cool.
Tesla
Ok i've got a trial of Dreamweaver so if it's any good i'll get the full version. MS Publisher Long time since i used that....

Joetheeskimo
If you're a complete beginner, you can use Tripod. It does all the HTML for you, and it's free. You have to sign up, and there are several pop-ups, though. If you want to learn HTML, which is so much better, and so much easier, this is a very good tutorial. Good luck. |GG|Carl
I just wanna know one thing about HTML: How do you create that little icon in front of the adress? for example on this site, it's a yellow button with a "v" in it, and on massassi, there is a brown temple. SkinWalker
I use PowerBlog to maintain a simple blog site that I include in my sig... nothing fancy, but effective and extremely easy to use. Very flexible and you can include your own logos and graphics by simply editing a template that you use. After you have the template set up, you never have to worry about the html... PowerBlog does all the work for you. Get it at http://www.powerblog.net/ Good luck.
ZBomber
I like Frontpage. Its as easy as Dreamweaver, so either one of those would be good.
WolfmanNCSU
The best for making webpages is a simple ASCII editor, like notepad or textpad. Something like that. There is no way you can go wrong with that. Also, be sure to check out this site. http://www.webmonkey.com It will help you with learning html and introduce you to java scripts, flash, etc. I think its one of the best web tutorials out there. Do you mean making a picture link? If so this is the code: <a href="url"><img src="url of image"></a> Notice that my sig pic links you to my site if you click on it. That was using this code.
