What do you plan on doing with Jedi Academy?

    • play for fun. It's just a game after all!

    • enforce my Code Of Honour upon all lamers 'cause they are not playing the game right
      1
    • defeat my enemies to score points and thus win
      4
    • be chatting, kissing and hugging dinosaurs and meditating a lot. I'll never ignite my saber because kick-voting is much more effective.

Many of us have voiced our concern in the Valley and the JA-section. But somehow I feel that most of you who we are concerned about hang out here in the Swamp, so..here goes:

What are your plans regarding Jedi Academy? Are you going to continue playing like you played Jedi Outcast? What is your way of playing? What are the "rules" you live by?

What it all comes down to is this: Do you have a multicoloured LAMER!!!!! -bind that you hit more than mouse1 when FFA-ing?

We all know what the scenario is when logging on to a FFA server these days. There are ~12 people who are engaged in a perversed game of walking around saber down looking all Jedi'oish and chatting, kissing, amsitting or whatever.

Yet this is a First Person Shooter. Amazing, huh? Even though we all get to see the rules when we log on: "DEFEAT YOUR ENEMY TO SCORE POINTS", we got nothing but virtual chatrooms with power-tripping teenage admins who are looking for an excuse to "show the n00b who is boss". How could something like this have happened?

How is it possible that the actual game consists now of trying to kick vote people off servers after calling them "lame" or "gay"? What happened to the fast-paced deathmatch that this game was made to be...and more importantly: WHY? Why did you do this? :(

Do you not understand that we have guns in this game so that we can shoot each other with them? That is the point of the game. Shoot thy enemy. Win the game. Therefore guns are NOT lame. What is lame is bitching about guns. I can so not understand that. What is wrong with you?

Do you not understand that we have force powers in this game for the sole reason of using them in order to kill the enemy? Grip is not lame. Lightning is not lame. Absorb is not lame. YOU are lame and quite retarded if you whine about someone using them.

Saber down = easy kill. Ask yourself: WHY are you walking around a FFA with your saber down? Do you not care if someone kills you? Because that's exactly what it means. Walking around a FFA defensless? Isn't that just stupid? Sure it is.

Or maybe you're thinking "Who cares, it's just a game! If I get killed so what??". Nothing wrong with that if you ask me. I don't mind getting killed. If I walk saber down it's my own fault if I get killed. Although I can't imagine ANY reason why on earth I would do something so utterly stupid in a game if I'm concerned about my score or seeing my virtual Jedi/Sith die.

Bowing. You want to crouch and look down? Fine, do that. A cool-looking move, some might say. So what? I bow you bow someone else doesn't bow SO WHAT?!?! There's no need for crouching & looking down for anyone if you don't feel like it. Do you think that it's some sort of universal rule? Of course it isn't! There is no such thing in a FPS-deathmatch GAME.

Code of Honours in general. You got a Code? Great. Good for you. But guess what - I DON'T! And wouldn't it be quite amazing if I did have a Code Of Honour AND it was exactly identical to yours? No chance in hell!

Ok. Now that we have established that fact, can you all see how totally retarded it would be to expect others to play THEIR game of JO/JA exactly according to YOUR rules?

Have you any idea how much I care about how mr.Lukeskyw4lkerZ-89 10.000 miles away thinks the GAME should be played? Have you ANY idea? Can you hear me laughing right now at the thought of it?

Absolutely ^^ This game is all about having a good time, and I'm most likely to be playing the SP more than MP, so my objective's simply gonna be to enjoy it:)I haven't kept much up to speed with the game's progress, but what I have heard of it, it's gonna be awesome for sure ^_^

I'm going to kill ppl... I dunno, it just gives me a kick when I beat ppl with 10/0 :p Perhaps I'm going in a clan again, I dunno, I must see how good I am compared to the rest :)

But I'm surely not RPing, and if ppl do on an FFA server, they'll get a taste of my mad spinning lightstaff, MWUAHAHAA!!! :D

Oh and doesn't this belong on the JA forum?

I doubt one can be off-topic in the Swamp..? :D

The reason why I wanted to post here is that this way I might get through to all those people who don't lurk in the Valley or the JA-section.

I also suspect that many "rpg-clan" members post in the swamp. People who follow Codes, people who use multicoloured lamer-binds. People who try to kick-vote you off the server if you grip them, shoot them while they're holding a saber or step on the Pad that should at all times be reserved for 'duelz only'.

People who yell "Script0r!" if you pull-kick them. People who call you a cheater when you don't die from a hit while raging. People who try to challenge you to press-k-duels during a CTF game and call you a "f-king chickenlamergay" when you blow them away. People who think only yellow stance is honourable and everything else is gay.

You know the people I'm talking about...90% of people you meet on FFA-servers these days.

No offence intended to Swampees, though. It's just that the Swamp is much more "active" than the Valley/JA-forum. :)

Come on mate, let it go its no good for your health.

Seriously why do you let those types get to you. I really do not care what other will or wont be doing, I will just be enjoying the game. Maybe I could get a server especially for you and run around as act like these people you are constantly going on about ;) lol

Dont worry there will be lots of servers out there just for killing when it comes out. :yoda:

I hope you're right...hope it won't turn out as JO where a few months after the release you have to search for 2 hours to find a (200+ ping)server where you can actually *play* the game a little. :(

Btw - I bet you use the green saber..? :D

Mob rule:

If everyone plays according to some rules, or a specific code of conduct, I'd rather follow it, than make mortal enemies of the other players.

But no, I don't intend to enforce those rules upon others, and I'd much rather play no-holds-barred.

Just seems that the majority of the JK-community prefers it the other way :(

I will play it for fun that's for sure.

And I'll play mainly SP and sometimes MP with bots (though I was not sure if I should buy it till yesterday(till I saw the trailer the first time:D)).

I was impressed by the way you can wield two lightsabers at once or the doublebladed lightsaber(really cool thing)...so I think I'll buy it.

I think I won't play much MP in the net....although I can say that some games were nice. I also made these sitting, chatting, kissing experiences.....found it not so great. Sometimes it's nice.

But this as well as JKII is a game which was made for playing it the way it is.....so lightsaber on I say Zzzschhhhhh.......hummmmm.........huuuummmmm;)

One note to darklighter: greeeeeeeat Av+Sig combo!

Well, with Jedi Outcast, I sort of tolerated some of these off-the-wall notions, and roleplayed once or twice, and laughed at the silly kissing and stuff.

However, it's not what the game was designed for, and when these ridiculous 'rules' are enforced by ego-maniacal admins, it goes much too far.

So with Jedi Academy, I'm not going to tolerate other people 'killing' my enjoyment. If I find myself on a server with people kissing, I've going to play the game the way it's mean to be played, and I don't care if I'm kicked from every server where this sort of thing goes on.

It is a First Person Shooter with melee combat, and the aim is to kill your enemies. That's what I'll be doing. Keep the RP stuff to servers that clearly state 'Roleplaying' in the server title, so everyone can stick to their own side of the fence. I don't have a problem with roleplayers if they don't try to force me to play 'their' way. I'll use every weapon at my disposal, and anything else that is to my advantage to rack up kills (especially with a crappy ping).

Let battle commence! :D

I'm sure I'll play it the way I played Outcast.... Multiplayer first... then finally I'll get around to SinglePlayer after everyone starts standing around folding there arms, sitting in the middle of battles, spinning lightsabers, kissing each others, etc.

It is soooo frustrating to find a server these days. You have to have multiple mods loaded, since there's only like two base servers.... picking a server with 8 people is no guarantee that theres a battle in an FFA server (you get there and it's like a virtual make-out session with the Kiss Emotes)... Or everyone sits around and takes turn dueling.... not bad, but this is on nearly every server.

Oh well... the first few days of multiplayer action will probably be the best in my opinion... beat the mods... get there first!

I didn't play for 6 months. A while ago (3-4 weeks) I started playing again just to see what's going on and it was horrible.

I actually got put to sleep when I logged on to a server, someone attacked me and I defended myself. We never got to finish the fight, because I was put to sleep. The admin was standing next to my helpless body looking down and explaining: "Duels only, noob! Do you understand?"

So...yea, duels only, which means press-k-duels with the fps-killing blue glow (got my uppgrade, though.. so that's not an issue anymore), no force and kicks that don't hurt. Grreaaaat..

Most servers that have people playing on them are like this nowadays (=last time I checked).

But who should I blame? The mod makers or the people who turned the game into what it is via mods?

I say the people. And that means YOU buddy!! :swear:;)

lmao me too.

I play once every two months for fun and I still kick butt, lol. I thought I'd be rusty from playing a lot of AA but actually I did fine. Being called a cheater brings back fond memories... ahhh... It's like any game I play, when a dumb-A$$ noob calls me a cheater I just want to cry with glee (right after I punk him out).:D

I plan to take it out to dinner then when we get home we're gonna.... err ah.... I'm gonna play it when it comes out!

What I do is find empty servers, then people usually follow me in, so I really don't care about the multiplayer stuff. For example, one time I join a server that was supposed to be for RPing or some stupid crap like that, but the next guy who joined asked if we just wanted to kill each other, I said yes, and we just kill each other. Eventually, some of the regulars started coming and we got kicked :p oh well, on to the next server!

Lol! I started playing JO again (for 1 day hehe) online when I heard about JA. So I entered a duel server (I usually duel, but like some FFA guns action cool too from time to time) and owned 3 guys (with clantags) with 10/0 during 3 mapchanges... That felt great. I never played that great on the Zone though (trough BattleStats, where my former clan played), but public servers seem to have lots of inferior players (MWUAHAHHAAA) playing :)

I only got kicked 2 times during my JO time, one was for using guns on a ffa server with guns, and the other time... Well... I don't really know why I was kicked :) But it's not bothering me much... As I said if you want to duel, you go to a duel server like I do :)

I didn't know they had role playing servers, lol. That's incredibly stupid. Roleplaying + Star Wars = Galaxies, not JO. Now I plan to join any RP server I can find and kill as many people as I can. That'll teach them. It's all about tough love!

The best kick I got was in a FFA map after JO was first released. I was camping high above the action while others were fighting. the map had a lot of hazardous pits in it and I was in range to push people enough to miss their jumps and kill them. After about 40 kills a guy threatened me by saying " when I find you you will phear my Jedi sk1llz." I of course thought this was very comical and replied "up here dumbass" before I pushed and killed him again. He, being a noob, fired a rocket at me. I pushed it back (to his surprise) killing him and pushing another person to their doom. The next time he managed to get withing range of my grip, so I choked him, dangled him over the ledge, and pushed him to oblivion. By now he was so pissed he started a vote to "kick the cheater, he's cheating". He said I was using a hack to push his missle. Most people said that was part of the game, but voted me out anyway.

lol those were the days. :D

I can remember the good ol' days where the red DFA was only known to a couple of ppl, including me (although I didn't learn it immediately, I was still pretty fast.... with a little help ;))...

Luckily enough they didn't know how to kick ppl, they said I had a cheat to do the move. A couple of weeks later everyone used that move over and over, lol!

Follow whatever server rules put in front of me. if saber down=peace, then so be it, as long as i at least get to duel and as long as the admins don't abuse power every time someone jumps out in front of me saber down then claims i lamed them :/

if its just saber down=easy kill, hell with it, I'll fight my ass off.

In other words, Play for fun, rules are like stop signs, solmetimes however inconvenient they are, you just have to live with it :)
