Ass Squad Leader, worth it?

I thought about it. Orginally, SL was going to be my dream, but I thought about it. The only time I'm ever in a group is on PA Hunts, and because I'm not incharge of the Combat Group I don't plan hunts.

 

Even if I did, I'd get flamed (like in the lastest Hunt Post), saying, "OMG n00b! You can't have hunts now, we have the PA Hall coming up, and that McRodian, or whatever." So, basically, the question is, if I picked up SL would I get to the lead the hunts.

 

Before one of you say, they have a lot of responsibilities, remember 1. this is a game, and 2. it's fun, hunts are supposed to be fun. They would have to remind the group, if Gawd forbid, I'm late due to real life issuses, the don't start or form a group without me.

 

Something a Squad Leader, or any group leader, should have is patience. We lacked that last Lok hunt and the group paid dearly. Let's face it, the people that are there early are usually there, because they are powergamers. Admit it, it's easy to tell a Power Gamer from a casual gamer, just look at the skills they have. (NOTE: I'm not saying Power Gamers are bad, I'm just saying just because they get there early and have no patience doesn't mean they should get to lead all the time).

 

I know what you're saying, but I only stated that last paragraph, because I know that's what the argument about me taking over will be, hands down.

 

Oh well, here's my rant. I'm sorry if I stepped on any toes, I'm just stating the facts.

ok with SL you dont have to be the person who leads the hunt... you just have to have the Leader Status so the group gets all the cool bonus's that your profession provides.

Just tell us what u want to do with your character and we will try to help you with which profession to choose. Like crafter or fighter..

If people that typically dont show up for hunts decide that they are too busy to come on hunts so be it. Dont let them bother you. But don't insult someones business because you get your kicks out of it.

 

If you truely want to lead hunts then there is nothing stopping you. So far Giles and I are the only ones having consistent hunts and I have yet to see you even attempt to lead a hunt.

 

Everytime I see you post now I know its going to be a good read because you are going to insult someone and make yourself look like an ass in the process.

 

If you have something to offer to the PA then try doing it in a less abrasive manner and you wont have everyone shooting your ideas down all the time =)

1. It's called constructive critism. I have to admit, this PA, compared to others, is in pretty poor shape, when you think about it. I'm here, like you, Corzip, Jan, and the others, to make it better.

 

2. Where did I say it brought it me pleasure? I'm only saying if we have the group leader, a power gamer, leading the group, he has to have patience.

 

3. Yes, there is. I recall Patman's response to 8/12 Hunt, "why are you talking about hunts now, we have several important events coming up like the PA Hall, etc." (for the most part, that's how that went). So, why should I propose, a hunt, when I'm gonna get flamed for it.

 

Another point to that, is if I start a hunt I can't promise I'll be there on time. So, I do know they won't start a group without me. *No biggee, if I wasn't a Squad Leader, right?* Well, people would start whining, "Come on, let's go, I want to hunt!" "No, I'm sorry, we need to form a new group, so I can get SL XP." Trust me, most of our people don't whine, but we've invited a few non-Asses to join, and they have whined.

 

Ok, so you say, kick them out of the new group. Well, ok, so they go back to their 200+ person PA with a list of our group members. Then, using /who, they stalk up and annony us, and hunt our prey. I don't know about you, but I've read the Starsider Forum, and others, this happens.

 

4. I'll take that as a compliment, considering I am an Associate! I don't know if you read the thread, "The Asses Most" but in it, I wanted to see positive feedback from the PA. If I recall I put you on there too. The response I got back from you, was positive, now you turn around and give me a general negative comment. How thoughtful!

 

5. Again, I like you, Corzip, Jan, and the rest of the leaders, have been here awhile and want to make the Associates organized and fun. However, we can't have an attitude like this.

 

I promote others' ideas. Could it be the fact that my ideas make sense and fit into our agenda? Could it be the fact that I would make a decent out of game leader, and you and others aren't willing to share the wealth?

 

I don't know, I'm just a side-liner.

The reason why I lead the hunts when I organize them is because people listen to me, they follow my orders and it works out great.

 

Being a squad leader is awesome for group hunts my friend has and when he is the leader it really helps out the hunt in both organizational stand point and the bonuses.

 

Jek the best way to find out if you wanna go squad leader is organize a hunt and lead it. If people listen to you then go squad leader if they do not then do not go squad leader.

 

Also only go squad leader if you plan on doing a lot fo group hunts that is how yo get xp in squad leader

He didn't flame anyone but if you got your feelings hurt by what he said I'm sorry. I wont stop hunting everynight because the PA hall opening is in 5 days but thats just me.

You are making excuses for not leading groups. If you don't want to lead groups then don't whine about others.

You arent organizing and you arent making the game fun by making fun of peoples ideas and complaining about how those of us who attempt to do something organized in the PA run things.

Fact or opinion? There is always room for people who want to lead but you arent showing leadership when every post is an excuse for not doing something. If you want to lead then go for it, post a time for a hunt, show up and lead it.

The only reason I said that was because we didnt know when the date was for thos two events. Now that we know when the PA Hall is going up, and I know its going to be awhile for my restaurant to open, I dont have a problem with hunts.

I'm going to have to stomp on your toes Jek. To put it bluntly, if you were a leader, I wouldn't listen to you. Firstly, because I haven't liked any of your ideas yet. Second, because Jan is right, you've got this "conspiracy theorist" thing going on for you.

Why do you think everybody is against you? Also, the way to become a leader is not to walk in and say "Make me a leader, you money squandering, power mongers!" Normally, I wouldn't mind being given constructive critism, but this is insulting!

 

I was one of the orginal founders, so technically, I'll always be a member. Sure, many, many others have contributed a lot more, but I'm still here helping The Associates stand tall against it's odds. I'm here to help turn this ragtag group of posters, into a Player Association that will, hopefully, have some impact on the Starsider Galaxy and on SWG as a whole. However, more importantly, have fun, and build relationships among it's members.

 

Just because I'm not on some Fan Site's PA Database roster, doesn't make me less of a member than you. Besides, swgalaxies.net's login is broken. So, technically, I can't register. When the leaders want to make it official they can. Until then, I won't stop posting and voicing my opinion nonetheless.

Well, that first statement, I learned more about you then I wanted to. The second, I have one response, when in the world did I ever take charge? I've never claimed infalliblity, I've merely made suggestions. And if you, or anyone else, interprets my mere suggestions as claims then you are gravely mistaken.

I'm sorry, but I can't find any thread anywhere that said you were part of the founding group. In fact, I can't even find a single thread, post, or sentence that you had joined up.

 

I liked you once. In the beginning.

But then you changed over the following months. You either decided that the people on these forums were naive and deserved to be called that in their face or you've always been like this.

Last time that you were a regular to LFN as a whole, was back in 2002, July 4th. You then left for about 2 months. When you come back, the very first thing you have to say is a direct flame, although suttle, aswell as making fun of them. Not to one person, but to everyone (don't ask for proof, cause I will provide it). You post a couple of posts, then disappear again for 3 whole months.

 

When you finally post again, you are still in the mindset that people around here are stupid.

 

Another 2 months goes by, and then comes the real flame. The stupidity of the Official Forums are finally showing it's effect on you for full now.

You make a few normal posts, go after Setsuko again, and are once again in the wrong which she so excellently shows every time.

 

4 months go by, we are now very close to release.

And the first thing you are interested in are luring the "stupid and naive" Associates members into thinking that Bloodfin would be a good place to go to.

 

Not all your posts are bad, some are good. But you have a negative and some kind of superriority complex about you, thinking that just because you were a regular at the Station you were somehow better than the people here, which I don't like.

 

Also, I don't really like being called a liar for no reason at all.

 

So, bottom line, I find you as a trouble maker, and others in our PA agrees on this too. I even hear you have gotten into some serious trouble in game, pissing off the wrong people.

Wow, I remember when I got flamed on these boards. It was about a year ago, but I did for making a few suggestions.

 

Anyway...Jek, just stop posting, because I have been through what you are going through many times, and it is just best to keep your mouth shut, because no matter what you say, they will always ridicule you.

 

Personally, I barely come here, but the server is down. I just play the game, and ask Corzip, or Iwok what is going on. Iwok barely answers me though(he he). The PA city(Well, what it will look like) is coming along nicely, I still need furiture for my home.

 

About Hunts. I never join them, dont really want too, but might in the future. I am to much of a casual player, and the times people set up are to much of a hassel to do. I join with Iwok at times, and go hunt some lairs, but that is about it. If you want to set up some hunts, talk to people on AIM, get a chat room up, and get everyone in there. Then again, you can just yell at Starports that you are going on a group hunt.

 

I will be willing to listen to you, if I ever go on a group hunt.
